and we can establish his double personality thing in his own movie, so you can have him cast illusions to convince black adam to join his side but his personalities clash while casting and it messes up the spell and corrupts it which makes black adam reluctant to teaming up with them. imo that is a lot better than having them just fight and also I haven't read the comics but I'm pretty sure dr fate should be more powerful so you can have black adam run away after the horribly casted spell instead of soloing everyone which is kinda weird

Apparently, it was going to be rated R because it was originally much more bloody/violent than what we ended up getting. I’m not saying it would have dramatically improved the movie, but it could have sold the “antihero who is one bad day away from being a villain” thing better if Black Adam was actually allowed to be more graphically violent. I don’t get why film studios don’t shoot for R-rated superheroes; movies like Logan, Joker and Deadpool 1 and 2 have shown that R-rated comic book films can be very financially successful.

DCEU problem is they try to establish the universe before the world. So no character even within their own starting movie truly ever got fleshed out with their backstory, rules, relationships etc.. everything is starting from 55 because we got to amp it to 100 even before we even know why we should be invested. The heroes have become their own villain of the week, why should I be invested if they have nothing to fear but just get to the finish line oh wait we got to introduce these five people? Why because - reasons so they can have their own franchise. Like can I get to know one before you hand me several people I'm suppose to pay attention to? A few points that weren't brought up. First is the Eternium missile and how eternium can hurt Black Adam, how the movie pauses to showcase it (like printing "eternium" on the missile itself) only to drop that point from the rest of the film. Second is the mom's heirloom eternium necklace, which is the same necklace that Black Adams wife is wearing 5000 years ago; again it's showcased to the audience and never mentioned again. Third is the backstory of how Black Adam gained his powers; it's fine; except it's logically stupid. The son gained the power of Shazam and did what exactly, Adam says the king sent assassins after his son won a few battles against the king, so the son didn't depose the king and free his people immediately; Adam did it in 5 minutes after his family was killed ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Do you know what's refreshing. My Hero Academia. Heros have the opportunity to preemptively strike the homebases of the major Villains (one of them is a major hospital) and the very first concern is actively evacuating a city. Notifications go out to the residents cellphones (which would probably reveal the timeframe for the Villains to start prepping but, the main goal is to evacuate civs before letting loose). Heros go to houses to knock on doors. Multiple frames of heros carrying civilians out. They even just began the discussion on the nature of killing as a Hero. This is absurd considering the powers some of these hero has. One of them carries a gun and is Deadshot adjacent. Another can basically turn himself into a centimetre thin bladed that can poke holes through people like the guy from Guardians of the Galaxy. MHA has plenty shounen troupes that would get it eviscerated by EFAP but there is some quality to what it tries to say about being a hero (sometimes).

It has been unfortunate at times to see missteps and missed opportunities in the series, but that does not mean his story is a failure. He has kickstarted a world worthy of spin-offs, alternate universes, reboots and more. It might outlive him, just as Spider-Man outlived Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Izuku has some more growth to go, that is not a flaw. I admit I am ready for a break from him. But ultimately I think he’ll soon become a character to rival Tony Stark or Peter Parker in larger storylines, even when details change with each lead writer.

It’s not that Heroes can’t legally kill (they can as a last resort), it’s just that it would be a PR Nightmare for the Heroes as Heroes are seen as these perfect paragons of justice and equality and Villains as these scourges on society who commit acts of injustice. It’s a complete dehumanisation of people based upon labels. A big part of Japanese Hero Society is perception. It’s the reason why you have such things as Quirk Discrimination and labels such as “Heroic” and “Villainous” being placed upon simply for the type of Quirk someone has. This Hero/Quirk obsessed culture bleeds into the wider society, which leads to some Heroes being able to get away with not some Heroic deeds and Villains having been ostracised victims of society.

Why was 6 afraid of 7? It's a fairly common question, mostly because when people see 6 and 7 next to each other, it doesn't really make sense. 6 is large, muscled, and trained in multiple martial arts, while 7 is fairly average, physically, and short. However, 6's fear of 7 has its roots in childhood. See, 6 and 7 grew up together, and for a few years, they were best friends. But then 6 kissed 3, and they became childhood sweethearts. 7 secretly had feelings for 3, so 7 decided he needed to destroy 6 to win 3's affection. He started subtly, undermining 6 whenever possible with passive aggressive comments and compli-sults. But over time, things got much more insidious. 7 started messing with 6's performance in school, bringing down his grades and turning teachers against him. Even worse, 7 became great friends with 6's parents and slowly turned them against their own offspring. At night, 7 would sneak into 6's bedroom, and whisper depressing and hopeless things into his ears. Every time 3 was around, 7 would pants 6 and make fun of his genitalia, or try to body shame him in other ways. However, 3 was both smart and compassionate, and saw through 7's schemes, sticking with 6, trying to counter 7's psychological tear-down with compliments and friendship. Finally, 7 decided that he would never be able to win 3, so he drugged both 6 and 3, taking them to an abandoned cobbler's hut on the edge of town. There, he proceeded to torture and maim 3, forcing 6 to watch in horror, unable to do anything to save his sweetheart. 7 didn't kill 3, but instead, put her in a semi-vegetative state. 7 cleaned the scene of his prescence, then called the cops, having 6 blamed for 3's condition. 6 was sent to prison, believing 6 was guilty, 6's parents fell into a deep depression, eventually committing suicide over what they believed 6 had done. After serving 17 years of a 30 year sentence, and getting out on good behaviour, 6, now muscled and skilled as a fighter, thought he might get revenge on 7. But when he finally tracked down 7, he found out that 7 had installed a micro-bomb into 3's body, and should he be killed, the bomb would automatically go off and kill 3 as well. And though she was still in a mostly fugue state, 6 couldn't bring himself to hurt her any further, and decided to try and move on with his life. However, being an ex-con, it was difficult for him to get a job. 6 finally found employment at a diner, which 7 then bought, and proceeded to again undermine and toy with 6 at every turn. 6 tried to find employment elsewhere, but 7 contacted any potential employer and soured them against 6. 6 finally realized that no matter what he did, 7 was going to try and ruin his life, and he resigned himself to living as a broken, lonely man, never able to stand up to the depraved, amoral 7.

This time I won't forget to write down my thoughts: The selfish slavedriver could be the kind of management guy who takes credit for his subordinates and would later claim that the miner died tragically or that the Eternium(?) was just lying around. Or the driver was expected to give the slaves their share and _his_ manager can't be bothered to check if they did. What're the slaves gonna do? Report him? Assume that the missing slave isn't having better life somewhere? Idk if indicating this in the movie would be better. I freaking forgot something, I lied. BA would be kind of reasonable in discriminating based on skin color, considering the way societies were structured back then. Foreign = Bad is fairly reasonable for that time. Or maybe he just has those soldier instincts that let him detect hostility. Or he heard her awaken him and could thereby tell who was the good guy. The art of BA looks really really cool.

I call Black Adam my favorite 4/10 it has good stuff like the mom grilling the JSA, the reworked backstory(difference being Adam killed Harut to get power), but the annoying kid, flat villain Sabbac weigh it down. An explanation for Rock not having an accent is because the first voices he heard were Intergang, and using one of his powers he gained from the gods(wisdom) assimilated as well as Waller saying the more he adapts the harder it’ll be to take him down one of them being communication

Funnily enough, Im fine with sabbac being a flat villain. It really represents that khandaq hasn't had a chance to exist as its own entity because of their past leaving them crippled, with Black Adam letting them have the strength to murder the demonic manifestations of the ancient regime that Black Adam toppled and allowing them to move on. Sabbac himself justifies his own flatness by literally being a dude groomed to fulfill his family's "destiny".

The Rock has been trying to make this movie for fifteen years, not understanding the character or caring about his ties to Captain Marvel (Shazaam) and claiming to care deeply about the character... entirely because he saw him as a black version of Superman and wanted to get to fight Superman in a movie. And that'll never happen. When he got his way and got Cavill in the credits, he should've at least exchanged no-context blows with him and had the film end with them angrily fighting toward each other. Poor guy. His ego has been coping ever since his movie underperformed and James Gunn got to take over instead of him.

@3:58:00 The Purple head dude on the right has no idea how air/water pressure works. Water pressure cannot "crush you like a tin can" cause your body is not compressable, only the air in your lungs is, and being that the air is already at that level, it's already compressed down to reach equilibrium with the water pressure. What would happen is he would have gotten nitrogen poisoning aka "the bends" from going up so fast.

What I just realized is a huge missed opportunity was the backstory he had should have made him hyper susceptible to the kid, because Adam lost his son and it would be natural to see his son in the annoying kid. Wouldn't that have been interesting to see him be apathetic to everything except the kid and you wonder why that is? Only to find out the empty revenge he had and then to find meaning in life again through that child? Just a thought

Sad thing, there's an ok movie called "Little Traitor" from Amazon, that has a somewhat similar premise of soldiers setting border patrols, and curfew time on citizens of another country and the citizens comply, but have ill will against them, that they should go home, that things will be more peaceful when they're gone. There is a cringe scene in it, but the movie is all about a kid from that country, hating the soldiers and was initially willing to do terrorist acts so they can leave, and a soldier who acts friendly to the kid, tries to understand their language and they try to make him relatable and human. Then we got Black Adam, where the soldiers are proclaimed one-sided as evil as a kid, who's friends with The Weapons of Mass Destruction, goes Mr. Manhattan on everyone he hates and the citizens cheer and I'm just thinking 'if the country was ISIS, we would not be cheering for them.' And Batman would be right about his 1% chance.

The fact DC thought, (audience perspective) race-swap Shazam, discount Falcon (who is actually race swaped), discount Ant-man, discount Dr. Strange, literal who wind girl, would not only be accepted by main stream audiences but hyped due to big name actors enough to forgive the absolute RUIN of the snyderverse just proved they learned _NOTHING._ NONE of the factors equal a _good story,_ the ONE THING DC needs most. I kinda feel as though they could have tied this into the wider DC rather easily...granted with a headcanon I've been building since Mauler started his Justice League coverage. Baseline: Earth gets a ton of supers cause the Anti-life equation is there and it spawns Meta Humans to make earth impossible to capture. The Greek gods (Diana's crew) were the first and strongest, repelled Darkseid, but went power mad. Insert the Black Adam backstory, and it's simply that the crown was made to bind and weaken the gods (power mad, ergo remembered as demons) maybe the original Dr Fate was the one who acted as the crown bearer, just for flavor. Amd he's cursed to inhabit the helmet as an embodiment of the Equations self defense. So who is black Adam in this? Same dude, son becomes a Shazam (probably the wizard order helped make the crown) and he gives the power up to save his dad. All that ties together in a neat little bow. gives Fate a reason to care about the crown, gives context to what the "demons" were, and the Eyernium is like....the blood of the Anti Life equation or something.
