I purchased a 2017 Kia Forte. Before making my choice I compared the Ford Focus, the Toyota Corolla, the Mazda 3, and the Hyundai Elantra to this Kia. What I discovered was that over all the Kia Forte was by far the best value overall. I have driven my Forte about 400 miles and I am well pleased no complaints thus far. This car is not a disappointment. It does everything well. It is not a high performance car nor is it a high end luxury car. But for what you spend you get a lot of amenities as well as great mpg. If you are looking for great value in a well designed and reliable compact car you would do well to consider the Kia Forte. I am pleased with mine.

I am not big on the details of all the inner workings and crazy detailed comparisons, but yours have just enough detail to keep me curious and cover what most laymen like me need: does it work, does it save me money at the pump in the real world, does it have the tech i need and want, all that good layman stuff. thumbs up all around.

Im a delivery driver. Small car hater. Is now 2023 and I've ended up with one of these. I drive the Hell out of it in the mountains in New Mexico. I can honestly say it has done extremely well and I usually average 30-32 mpg in town. (I know how to use hills) I just drove it 1500 miles within a week. At 85 mph it averaged 41 mpg. At 65 46-48. Astounding. I think a bit of programming adjustment for just a bit more oomph, and it will be nearly perfect as a delivery vehicle. That's coming from a Crown VIc fan. lol My other ride is a f'n Ford Ranger, put it that way lol. Oh and ill make more than you think. Technically this car will pay for itself by the end of the year.

I've got a 2017 Forte LX with the 2.0 mpi. I am averaging just under 35 mph and have done a 100 mile round trip where my average was 42 mpg. Heading to salt lake city one night I stopped for gas then headed 20 miles towards I80. I set the cruise control at 63ish and at about halfway noticed my mpg was around 70 and climbing steadily. Drove another 5 miles and it hit 99.9. Had the mpg display been able to go over 100 it most likely would have been at around 115-120.

The updated forte is the same as the 2017 elantra. this car is built in mexico it now has an anti theft deterrent system added.

Still would like to see a complete redesign, but I must admit, just the simple change of the front grill makes the car look a lot more modern

Michael O'Key it was due for a refresh and they wanted to change the headlights because it was too girly and most ppl that buy these cars are young guys. Now it's more broadened but mostly still sold to young guys. The redesign was good but they should have stayed with similar headlights to the old design. The 2014-2016 headlights were so ugly imo. The new ones are a lot better. I know they are going for economy for small cars but they should have either put the 1.6 turbo in it and had the 1.4 turbo as a base engine. Either that or have the 2.4 in it as the bigger option because they are a lot more smooth and refined. Also they easily make 200 hp in the optima so just stick it in the Forte as uplevel with 200 hp and 190 tq with a six speed and high gear ratio and the thing would fly

Michael O'Key that's how I would do it. 1.4 as base engine all the way through trims and a 2.4 for uplevel engine. Make it the same as the new optima base actually at 185 hp and 181 ft lbs and it would sell amazing. What I would do with optima is make the 1.6 turbo 180 hp and 195 tq with 7 speed dual clutch as the standard motor, with the 1.4 with the new 8 speed dual clutch as the Eco model. Then the 2.0 turbo as a optional engine and the 3.3 gdi V6 as the uplevel engine at 300 hp would be much better right now. They are coming out with a 375 hp awd optima turbo as a 2019 model through to compete with the sport fusion

I just bought the 2016 Hyundai Elantra. I rejected the 2017, 18, and 19 even though I had the money. I wanted the 5th generation Hyundai Elantra. It originated this design that this Kia is copying. It is also one of the most lauded cars out there. It is the best selling of the Hyundais

palebeachbum it's MSRP is about 25 thousand for the SX. Has everything in it. You can get one from dealer for about 22 k brand new Canadian. So US it would be what 19 k?

Nice review. A lot of features and nice looking, but loaded it doesn't seem like such a great value. As another viewer pointed out, you can get a more modern Elantra for the same money. There are also many mid size options.
