Off-Road: 2016 Kia Sorento AWD on Everyman Driver

I actually bought a sorento v6 awd 2 months ago, took it to an ORV Park here in northern California and it did 10/10 I was very happy with the way it performed, climbed about 25 hills,a ton of terrain types ,no issues. had some problems with clearance but the awd system is brilliant.

Hey bro which park did you go to? I've got a 2017 V6 AWD, was thinking of selling it for a 4runner but if it's indeed capable I'd like to keep it. I just need light to sometimes moderate off road capability. I know it's not a 4runner but like I said I just need light to moderate, nothing crazy. Thanks.

You can always lift it up ;) Or just give it some bigger offroad tires and you will earn 1 inch of clearance for free

I have a 2016 Kia Sore to AWD, V6. And the AWD lock is great for staying straight in the mud on Yokohama touring s tires. I'm gonna put all terrain tires and a lift kit on it, and try to get it to be a really solid trail car. Its no rock crawler but it should be able to handle any camping trail and moderate off-roading with good tires. It can definitely take a rock scrape lol.

the only limit on it was its wheels. It was meant for paved road when you should have offroad wheels.

Thanks for the videos, very informative and great quality. One thing about the off-road tests, you should make a comment about the stock tires on the vehicle, and how well they grip (or don't). Also, the road trip video with the Sorento was very well made too. Gives a good impression of the real-word use for many of the more advanced features of the vehicle.

Although I wanted the Hyundai Santa Fe and still kind of do, I opted for a Kia Sorento. I have a 2013 LX AWD 4 cyl. While it is, so far, miles more reliable than the Jeep Liberty I traded in, the 4 cylinder engine's 175 HP leaves a lot to be desired. My initial thoughts were that it was adequate for acceleration but as time goes on driving the car it's kind of a chore when passing and merging onto the highway. I have been thinking about test driving a V6 Sorento. I originally thought this 2016 revamp was hideous and definitely looked too much like a minivan without the sliding doors. Though seeing this off road review has slightly altered my views and may actually grew on me LOL. As usual a very good and well thought out review.

I too was about to go buy the Santa fe but I after I test drove the Sorento, Highlander and and Pilot...I got the Sorento. It's really nice inside and rides really well (better than the Highlander and the Santa Fe). The price was amazing! Honda and Toyota wanted $50000+ CDN for the trims I was looking at. Kia deal let me have the 2016 Sorento EX V6 for $36500 Taxes in. Its a no brainier at that price.

When your talking ground clearance of these vehicles ? How come you never talk about Subaru Outback and the Forrester ground Clearance ? It's right up there with Kia , Dodge , Volvo, Hyundai. Have you done a test on the 2016 SUBARU'S ??

Honestly I'm not feeling the off road reviews anymore. There's is a good chance that the people who buy these SUVs won't be using them off road. Can you do more real life driving? Like regular city traffic and then some highway miles as well instead of every other review an off road review

Just ordered some good all terrains for my 2012 Sorento so yes there are people that take it offroad. In fact everyone in Europe, or at least in my country, takes their Sorento offroad.

+M.Mishal Traded my Range Rover for a Sorento. The Sorento blows the DOORS off the Range Rover. From reliability to quality and drive. The Sorento puts the Range Rover to shame. I have the SXL V6 and its terrific. I can't believe how the Sorento has more "European" feel then the crappy unreliable Range Rover.

+ggolds5 I have never been in a RR but the Sorento is a very reliable and excellent car. I used to have the 2013 Sorento, i drove it for over 2 years (75,000 KM) with no problems at all and it aged very well. that is why I got 2016 Sorento which has all what the old model had but with more refinements and better quality.

the kia sorento is the only decent looking kia, i just can't see me getting a car with a kia badge though, just can't do it. honestly i will get a toyota sienna before getting this just because it has a kia badge. maybe kia can change their name and maybe come around in a few years.

Carlos Pereira get over it. Kia builds VERY nice vehicles now. Huge value, and very reliable. I have a 2012 Sportage, 190,000km and it drives as good as it did off the lot day 1. I live in Canada, where the winter is harsh on top of that! Sorento is next for me.

Carlos Pereira I've had 3 kias to date. Still have a Cerato. All have been super reliable and very well built. Worked at a VW factory for many years and these by comparison are also very well assembled.
