Nice interview with Scotty, (regular guy). I subscribed to his channel when he was still telling his stories, some of them I will always remember. I first arrived in the Philippines before the demic, and am back again for the 3rd time. Scotty's minimalist style is a good mindset to have, if you plan on living as the locals do. Most people here don't have the trappings of the western lifestyle, think flush toilet, screens on windows, toasters, etc. I've lived in big beautiful new homes, and been flat brokeand everything in-between, stuff is a distraction from real beauty, and the true meaning of life. I'm happy for you, and to hear you are blessed with a loving relationship. I'm in Mindanao, and will be married soon, to a lady I got to know in 2019. If we get to Dumaguete , perhaps we will meet you at the favorite coffee shop. Enjoy your day.

Great interview. I liked hearing about Scotty's history and how he ended up in the Philippines. I've watched a few of his videos and really liked the one he did during his visiting a small city in Mindanao called Malaybalay. I've added that city to my list of places to visit when I get to the Philippines. I'm looking forward to Scotty reporting on his visits to out-of-the-way places with his new scooter. Mark: if you get to visit the waterfalls at that hot spring, I'd like to hear about it--it sounds like the kind of places I like to visit when traveling.

Loved the interview , he didn't know what love was.. People fall into into infactuation or it's a "romantic love " Ask thr older generation, love is through the sunshine and the rain; a lover which becomes less important over time and then a best friend, an a partner , adviser , shoulder to cry on etc....most people don't finish anymore . Best of luck to Scott. Keep staying positive ❤

Scottie is a real expat, ie teaching English in S Korea for 20 years! It’s the real expats who can go the distance in SE Asia because of their life experience. For the rest of us who’ve only lived in our home countries it’s more challenging. Thailand has advanced more rapidly than PH. Bangkok and Manila aren’t comparable nowadays. The former has freeways that look like LA or Houston and an MRT. Driving in Manila is a nightmare and the public transport is almost entirely Jeepneys. The people are wonderful in PH as is the landscape of seas and mountains.

Thanks for meeting Scotty. Scotty is a good guy. If you wonder about him, it is just his personality and how he looks at things. If you look it several different ways, there is often a funny side to things. And, as some say, it is just entertainment. All the vloggers contribute a great to the common topic of living in the PH as an expat. Our common thread we all have is freedom of speech with vids and vlogging. The platform of Ytube allows anybody in the world to participate in in free voice. Let us all have fun with it. Scotty is the young one, he brings a different side to living in the PH. All is good, all is fun. Good times, great job.

Hey Mark, there was a super great interview Scotty tends to have a quirky personality, and when he's being interviewed by other KZbinrs he tends to be uncomfortable in his own skin this is perhaps the first time I've seen him relaxed and it was a great interview I'm happy for both of you. Scotty, if you read this and I'm sure you will, I look forward to meeting both you and Mark, Gio, Paul old dog.. and a few others. My plan is to retire to the Philippines in the June/July time frame. I already purchased all my cameras and gear, with the intent of developing my own KZbin channel. Mark, I always love watching your channel. Congratulations on the baby!

It is amazing that the love was "stuck in time". The part that you love only exists at that point in the past. Both of you have grown and different now and you really can't get that back. That realization is very powerful, and it reminds me of Star Trek, TNG episode: The Dauphin. Weasley tells Guinan: "I will never feel that way again". And Guinan says: "Your right, oh there will be others, but it will be different." Too bad it takes us until 40 or 50 to realize that.

You know the thing about Thailand is that because of its infrastructure, and attractive women it is very very enticing place for an American to live..But the realities really hit you hard when you stay even 3 years in Thailand…For example the reality is if you as a westerner cannot read or speak Thai it is a severe handicap..And there will be times when you have to hire a Thai lawyer just to get documents done and those are the times when you regret not being able to speak Thai…another reality is the Thai govt really doesn’t want the older westerner to live there..They put all kind of financial limits on a retirement visa….Reality is this..yes the Thai women are beautiful but the reality is they would rather converse in Thai than in English with you..I notice that even the highly educated Thai women who are fluent in English were very materialistic when being courted by a western man…They only wanted a man that could elevate their status….The ones that spoke perfect English and had a degree were fairly picky on the type of farang their were looking for…them is just facts…so basically said all this to say phillipines is the logical choice for men from the US..
