I have two as well, the CVT and the manual and I love them both, they are both bullet proof the CVT I drove it till 360,000 kms, assembled in japan all the parts are either made in japan or made in Germany like the rear struts, nothing made in NA/China/Mexico from what I can gather. only negative I can say is it should have come with 200 hp, but that would have raised the msrp so who knows how that would have turned out. These days I drive rental cars with 200 hp and honestly it doesn't feel much faster than the CRZ. People should give more props that Honda was the first to make a hybrid enthusiast car, before the P1, 918 and the LAF
@illusiversx5 ай бұрын
I agree man. It was a weird car that just wasn't appreciated the way it should have been. It really does feel faster than certain cars when I think about it. Honestly the manual for whatever reason feels faster than the cvt but could just be a placebo effect😂

How do you think the new Prelude will compare to the CR Z?
@a.p.63505 ай бұрын
Over the years, it has become increasingly clear that the criticism of the CR-Z was superficial and simply unfair. What is particularly interesting is that most critics never even test-drove the CR-Z but merely read off the data sheet to see what it technically offers. But that doesn't describe the driving experience. In fact, a more powerful engine would have been even better for the car, and that's the only drawback I see as justified. However, as it is, it's perfectly fine as long as you're not focused on power alone. Regardless of its performance, the CR-Z stands for driving pleasure and timeless design, and it fulfills both. It’s a model that doesn’t appeal to the masses but is rather niche, which only makes it more special, as are the drivers of this car, who do not follow the crowd and have realized that the crowd can sometimes be wrong. Additionally, the driving modes offer an interesting experience and make the CR-Z feel like three cars in one, as these modes make a significant difference in handling.

I've had my manual CR-Z for 15 months now. Here in the UK, it only costs £25 a year in road tax, the insurance costs me very little and it does (in British gallons) 55mpg or about 41mpg in the USA. Reliable little cars if maintained properly and you keep the rust in check. They are an absolute hoot to drive on some of our twisty little roads that we have and that's when you find their handling more than makes up for their lack of power.

I've come to realize it's way more fun to drive a slow car to its limits rather than a fast car to half its limits 🤟. Shoutout from watching in the UK🫡

As long as you arent on the lithium battrey, the crz forum knows a guy who will show you how to trickle charge and discharge the battery and recover it capacity. Allegedly back to at least 75%. Mfactory do a 4.928 diff gear and LSD to replace the the 4.111 diff gear and standard diff (20% more acceleration, 20% less top speed (150mph+), which you dont have the power to hit (only 125mph) as the 6th gear is used as an autobahn overdrive rather than a clase ratio gearbox ie 125 x 4.928/4.111 = 150, where you drop from peak power at 6000rpm to peak torque at 4800rpm for greatest torque mulltiplication from 3>4, 4>5 and 5>6 gears. 0-60 is also substanitally improved as you still need 2 gear changes but have much greater accleration through 1st 2nd and 3rd). Allegedly hondata allows you to retrain the gear ratios. BC racing offer coilover, not necessarily for lowering, but you can level the lower arms and most importantly swap the spring ratings out to 6.5kg front/5kg rear or if you like it real rough 7kg front and 5.5kg rear. The front springs are easier to source and will be valved properly when bought from BC racing. This cars home isnt on the drag strip, its on the tight twisty bends up in the mountains and such. For me, the mistake honda made was using the IMA for direct power rather than energy recovery to drive electric compresors with upto 144v on tap and 48v high power compressors available. Even garrett is now working on genuine electric turbos rather than the ebay hairdryers, because of the battery power on tap with hybrids.

As a former CRX owner, it was just disappointing that Honda didn't put more effort into making this car better. I don't mind the hybrid power train, but they definitely should have had an sporty Si model that put out at least the same if not more HP than the CRX Si.
@illusiversx5 ай бұрын
Absolutely agree man. The crz si would have been the cake on top for the crz project but it definitely fell short of a crx successer. I wish I was a crx owner before a crz to feel the raw power and really appreciate it but one day hope to own a crx to be able to have the best opinion on the crz and crx.

For the comments wishing it was faster, I wished that was the case ad well. Interestingly enough, Honda was looking to put a more powerful engine in it at the time of production, but it couldn't pass safety standards. There wad a supercharger that Honda HPD released which could boost the car to around 200 HP but it was limited. Wish I could have gotten one for my 2015. Also the supercharger only worked on the ones with the manual transmission as well.
@illusiversx5 ай бұрын
I think the main complaint when it comes to power with these cars is just the fact that the supercharger kit costs so much as well. Sometimes we just gotta step back and appreciate the crz for what it is.

The CR-z just wasn’t good enough to justify the engine choice… And it should’ve came with an Si variant. Too slow, yet fun. Not fun enough to be comparable to a cr-x. But, when you K swap it it’ll be under 2400 pounds. With that engine it’s a really cool car..
@illusiversx5 ай бұрын
I agree man. I don't understand the choice of not at least having some other variant like you said si. I understand it would be a more expensive option but look at what hondas doing with the civic type r's rn. There almost $60k cars now compared to like $30k-$35k for a base civic. People are still buying type r's so I don't see why the crz would have been hard to sell being faster with a higher price tag.
