He started out as a villain and continues to become a good guy in Sonic Adventure 2, he keeps this arc going in Sonic heroes, and Sonic 06 I'm sure he was the one who got the longest straw since his story and arc was the best. I was upset at SEGA and Sonic Team for treating him as a "Good Guy with Bad Guy persona who has no friends" for a while, but it seems they are working their way out of this phase. I'm happy that they are turning Shadow back into Sonic's Equal!!

Mufasa is based on the expanded universe of the Lion King franchise. While most people who grew up with it have already grown up, or even forgot about it, it might have a considerable interest. a lot of the later remakes overtime have less and less justification to exist. only changes made in the lion king remake is showing Nala escaping (doesn't add anything), making shinzi some sort of leader and having this rivalry with nala and justifying why hyenas are bad for the pride lands. Lindsey ellis few years back made a good vid on the topic and you start to realise beauty and the beast set the motion from re-examining the source in a different way (not always doing it well i must say) to filling in plot holes and fixing things that create other issues and funny enough can be sourced back to 2000s internet

Dude honestly I had an Archie comic as a kid (I think I lost it unfortunately), and in it Knuckles and Shadow duked it out. It was so cool to see Knuckles keep up with Shadow (honestly if memory serves correctly he dominated around the beginning). I'm curious how Sonic 3 vs Mufasa will go amidst general audiences, especially those outside of the West. Sonic has had a huge uptick in popularity, but nowhere near the cultural relevance The Lion King had in both releases; couple that with the fact that Sonic is most popular in the West, and I'm more curious who the holiday box office will go to. I think the two things working most for Sonic 3 are the extreme levels of hype and the fact that Sonic 3 is more clearly connected to an ongoing popular film franchise, whereas Mufasa being connected to the Lion King franchise is always reserved for subtext in the film's posters. Overall, I think Mufasa will get bigger earnings at the box office, but I think Sonic 3 could have a greater impact on viewers. I hope Mufasa doesn't eat into Sonic 3's box office too much, though.

Exactly, I completely agree. Video game fans don't really make up a huge amount of general audiences. Which a lot of them don't realize. For example, if I were to ask my mom or any people around her age, most of them wouldn't really be too familiar with Sonic. Unlike the Lion King which is a more recognized name. I have no doubt Sonic 3 will be a success for sure. But comparing its previous 300M earnings to 2019 Lion King's 1B. It kinda paints a picture of what we might expect. The movie is already being hyped, but if they want more people to come to Sonic 3 they should focus more on advertising it. The only official advertisement this movie has is the trailer, figurines, those projection of Eggman, Shadow, Sonic from all around the earth and some art from juice bottles.
