I think the bridesmaid was in huge debt and stuck her head in the sand. A lot of people, instead of facing reality, just avoid uncomfortable conversations. And obviously got to the point where she would have been too embarrassed to show her face (after the wedding, of course she disappeared because she was embarrassed). I am not saying any of this justifies what she did but I think that's exactly what happened. She wasn't cackling to herself about how much money she embezzled.

I have bipolar disorder and go to therapy and are on meds. I LOVE how my meds make me feel normal and like I can actually function as a normal human being. The feeling I had off meds was so awful like I was in the driver's seat but couldn't drive my own body. Sad that people still have such a negative stigma about therapy, medication, and mental health as a whole. I try my best to advocate for it as often as I can.
@WhitneyDahlin

I don't believe negative stigma is an excuse to not get treatment. It's her fault for ruining everyones lives because she doesn't want to admit she needs help. Evil bridesmaid story: My dad was a very smart man. One of the best pieces of advice he gave me was this: “Never loan what you can’t afford to give away.” If you loan something to someone, you will probably never get it back, and if you do, it will not be in the same condition that it was when you loaned it out. I have “loaned” several people books I had, and I haven’t seen them since. All of these were books that I needed / used for teaching. I should have said “No.” I should have listened to my Dad.

The phone booth photos - the last time I was in London I saw *lines* of people waiting to take pictures with those damn booths. @coloraturaElise
@coloraturaElise 6 ай бұрын
Are you talking about the ballet photographer? If so, you need to read what she says in her text. She was there first, and as she approached the booth to start taking pics, the other people run over and got in the booth so she could not get her pics. They said they would just be taking 1 picture and would be finished, and apparently they took a really long time to take that one photo, so it seems clear that they were deliberately blocking the dancer from using the booth. Then, when they got their 1 picture, and the dancer came to get photos, the people decided they needed ANOTHER picture, and were trying to block the dancer again, for another 10 minutes no doubt, and the dancer just had had enough and started getting her pictures, and that's the other people complaining about not getting their other 10-min picture.

So it depends in America. So if the birthday person planned and invited it’s either everyone pays for themselves or bday person picks up tab. But it’s usually everyone pays for themselves If a friend organizing it, everyone pays for themselves and then either puts in money for birthday person or the organizer picks up birthday persons tab. And then if it’s a family member who plans it usually they pick up the tab. But I also know there are fights over people paying tab in a way that my dad invited our family for his bday dinner and was gonna pay for all of it but everyone picked up their own before he had a chance and pitched in for his food so when he went to pay bill it was done😊

When you invite someone out, make sure everyone else knows they have to pay for themselves. If the plan is for someone to pay as a gift to you which I find ridiculous unless you and the person are very close friends, sort that out beforehand. Don’t be that person who just springs it on someone out of nowhere that you expect them to pay, and then expect them to take it well because your friends. I learned/realized during the pandemic that I had a panic disorder. I had not been in therapy or on medication because up until then I was able to cope. The pandemic pushed me over the edge. Still, I resisted going on medication (couldn't find a therapist during the worst part of this). After about 4 months of daily, severe panic attacks I finally went on meds. Best thing I ever did. After being on the meds for about a year, I recognized that I felt better than I had in years. The medication is basically an anti-depressant so I apparently had that going on too. I will not go off this medication unless it starts causing problems. Better living through chemistry. Sometimes it IS necessary.

The 3rd last story about the time Karen calling the police on that boy who was cursing at the skate park, it reminded me of something . When I was a teacher I went to the mall to meet someone. Found a bunch of my students near the food court who were occupying a big table and being your average hooligan! I heard everything most of what they were saying to passers by would not be tolerated. I went about my day. On Monday after school I get called to the principals office. The principal was trying to chew me out for not reprimanding the students at the mall for their behaviour. I fought back and that I was not on the clock by the school, it was my time. Also the parents were there so why didn’t do their job? I reminded the principal that every time a parent wants to discipline their child and can’t should we as teachers go and do their jobs? And if so is the school going to be paying us more? The principal was so livid she devised ways to get me fired! 😂 I didn’t even give her that I quit before she could. And I talked about the school and their politics with the local community that principal has a bad name now!

@Raven62
@Raven62 7 ай бұрын
@@FreedomofSpeech865 she was crazy. The principal of the school was also the director of the school. And it was a private school. She had this weird ideology that all of the children had developmental problems and if they didn’t their home life was the problem. I had a student who was extremely smart. I would say like Sheldon from TBBT, but was emphatic unlike Sheldon. They would not bump him to upper grades because they worried that the average student would get jealous. He was in grade 5 but performing at grade 10. I gave him extra work from other grades to gauge his comprehension skills of the subject starting at grade 6. He flatlined at grade 10. According to school testing he flatlined at grade 7. Why? Because they were scared to give him the following grade. I had another student who couldn’t comprehend at grade 5 level he was functioning at grade 1. His older brother had similar issues. We found out that his older brother felt so pressured the teachers to perform (he was dyslexic and on the spectrum) he tried to unalive himself. The parents wanted both the children to stay back a year or two. Or be taken out of school and taken to a school that had special needs teachers helping them. The school refused. The older child couldn’t take it. He blamed his teachers in his note. The parents had it and removed both the children. The principal fought with them. When the father threatened to bring a lawsuit against her she let them go. Found out months later that there was a legal case against her and her practices. Decided to cut my losses and quit, as I was the teacher for all of these kids and she got it into her head that I was the problem. I was being made out to be a scapegoat for her. Left a month later. It’s been 6 years. And all 3 kiddos are in much better places. The smart one moved to a different school and graduated early and is in university. The other 2 went to special needs school and they are both doing good too. It’s not always the parents that become the issue, sometimes the school system or the power of that system is just corrupt.

15:40 I'm glad there was added more context, because just from the video alone, it sounded more like it was the poster and Amber who were Karens that didn't want to let others take photos even though there was maybe limited time to take photos and they'd been there for quite a while already. But with the context, it becomes abundantly clear that was not the case, at all, and that the poster and Amber had even been polite enough to let others take pictures mid-photoshoot session, only to be treated unfairly.

My sister used the word Caca to teach her sons when something was dirty when they were little. Fast forward to when I have my son and she tries the same thing. Unfortunately for her, my son associated Caca with her, not dirt. She has now officially been Aunt Caca since my son learned how to talk. 😂

If I was known as "Aunt Caca", I would be so proud I'd have it put on a t-shirt, with a poop emoji wearing pearls and catseye glasses! There's a 1948 movie called "Jungle Jim", starring Johnny Weissmuller of "Tarzan" fame. He plays a more low-key jungle dude; wears a safari suit instead of loincloth, and has a pet crow instead of a chimp. The crow's name is "Caw-Caw". My brother and I lost our caca as kids when we heard that!

As an avid mental illness medication taker, I am really happy that I have learned why being medicated is better for me, as well as everyone around me. I haven't learned what all my triggers are yet, but if I am not properly medicated and I get triggered, it isn't pretty. My medication allows me to have a more even emotional journey through my healing process with therapy.

Most people who haven't dealt with a dangerously mentally ill relative don't understand that they can and do hurt or kill their own kin. My ex MIL and I both had to move far from our home state of Texas to be safe from her son, my first husband. He murdered my dad in 1996, and threatened his own mother with death because she had testified against him in court prior to the murder, so that we could all get protective orders after he made many threats and committed felonies. We both testified to the Grand Jury in regards to my dad's murder, but the charge was no-billed anyway, even after his own mother provided them with the very threatening letters he sent her, WHILE he was on the run! Because the cops bungled the murder investigation and lost evidence, he was never indicted, so never convicted. His felonies were considered "non-violent", so he's still allowed to carry a gun in Texas, legally! I'm sad that I can never go home again, but most everyone I love there have died, or they hate me because I don't agree with their politics. Sometimes going no-contact with some relatives is the only way to protect one's life and sanity.

I spent 12 years in pretty intense therapy with a very well respected psychiatrist in Victoria BC. My mother was bipolar, and spent most of that time undiagnosed. And like many other people who suffer with undiagnosed mental health issues, my mum self medicated, and she chose alcohol to dull her pain. Those years were horrible for both of us, and mum was institutionalized twice. It was during this time that mum was diagnosed as bipolar and appropriately medicated. It took a little while before she felt better, but it happened. After a few months she no longer felt she needed to self-medicate and she started going to AA. Please don't think that it was a quick and easy, because it wasn't, but our relationship became much, much better, and we became friends, while still enjoying our mother daughter bond. It was great, and I have some wonderful memories. My mum passed away 7 and 1/2 years after she became sober, at the age of 57. I've now lived 4 years longer than my mother did, and that's both weird, and painful. I sure hope that OP's mum can get help and perhaps they can at least begin to heal their relationship, before it's too late. We never know what will happen next, I lost both of my parents within 13 months of each other. If you have something that you want or need to say to someone, don't dawdle, the regret isn't worth it.

In my country, if you have to celebrate ANYTHING about yourself (not just birthdays but anniversaries, job, promotion, etc) you have to arrange it yourself and then pay for it yourself and the guests just have to bring gifts and have fun 🎉 Most of the older guests (if any) just give enveloped cash directly and the younger ones put some effort to buy a gift..

The stigma surrounding therapy is still so unnerving. Medications and therapy help as a team and helps balance someone's moods n such. People don't want to be wrong or face consequences because they don't care about others and deal with deep denial. Mental health conditions may be part of one's personality but it doesn't have to rule your life either. I have BP2 and it answered a lot of questions. I still have issues but I've been balanced and confident in myself to continue to just be a better me. Also like, I've been the generous friend in the past and if I had the ability I wouldn't have them owe me. However now that I'm more restricted- I can't help and then notice the people who ask but never give or connect. Friends be texting me for money but not about how I am. That's the BS. Also like, thar bridesmaid gonna owe waaaaay more than she stole at this point
