Since this video was posted, Everything Everywhere All At Once has rocketed to the front of the Best Picture race. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping they seal the deal come March 12!!

1. Release date: EEAAO is literally still in theaters because people are still seeing it. CODA was released in August and only made 2 mill. 2. Importance: Importance isn't about celebrity anymore, but elevating voices that haven't been elevated as much (i.e. Parasite, Nomadland, Coda, etc.). 3. Genre: yes, Fablemans is one of the biggest tear jerkers, but not as much as EEAAO, which has countless of videos online of people of all ages balling their eyes out in the theater because of how moved they are. Fablemans doesn't have that. 4. Prior wins: As you mentioned, a lot of the most recent Best Picture winners are disproving this.
@yiqingtan4079 Жыл бұрын
I agree. The statistics / correlations may not mean what they seem to mean. Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if Fablemans win but I'm so ready to jump out of my chair for EEAAO

My thoughts are mostly that you've never been so delighted to be wrong in all your life. The Fabelmans won exactly (counting on fingers, frowning, rechecking) ZERO Oscars. If they were going to throw out all the rules of how a movie wins those golden statuettes, I too am ecstatic it was for this one-of-a-kind film!

Nice analysis. EEAAO deserves better award anyway, and it’s enough that the movie touches people’s heart and heals people. It opened up so many conversations within troubled families.

I hope this is another Parasite/CODA scenario, in which the Oscar goes rightfully, to the better film. This movie moved me so much, that it has become now my all time favorite film. Just thinking of it brings tears to my eyes. Such a profound, relatable and powerful sci-fi family drama.

Now that EEAAO have PGA, DGA and SAG all wrapped up. They are the clear on favorites to win Best Picture.
@BROJANGSTER Жыл бұрын
no it’s not. everything everywhere won critics choice. fabelmans wasn’t nominated for editing. spielberg wasn’t even *shortlisted* for director at baftas. original screenplay is going to either banshees or everything everywhere. the only award fabelmans could win is director, and daniels have just as good of a chance at winning, if not a *better* chance. ok, i’m gonna play the video now lol. prove me wrong 😎😎
@BROJANGSTER Жыл бұрын
ok, fine, you make some good points lol. especially about that pre-may release statistic, yikes 😬😬 but another big aspect about awards *season,* not just the oscars, is the precursor awards, like golden globes, critics choice, sag, and bafta awards. a lot of times, the big winners at those awards transfer over to the oscars. granted, the fabelmans won at golden globes for drama, and everything everywhere didn’t even win in the comedy category, but they came back in the biggest way with a sweep in most major categories at the critics choice. there’s a channel called the oscar expert, comprised of 2 brothers who have been super confident of everything everywhere’s winning odds for months now, and they have statistics that prove that eeaao could win, like how every single best picture winner has won a major critics choice award, for example. the fabelmans, as well as banshees, which is definitely in the top 3, if not top 2, walked away empty handed, outside of gabriel labelle winning for young actor, which isn’t a prize at the academy awards. if you wanna reconsider and maybe jump on the eeaao bandwagon and have fun with the rest of us, you should check out their prediction videos
@BROJANGSTER Жыл бұрын
there’s also been a bit of a shift in awards predicting, ever since moonlight beat out la la land. since that win, like you said, parasite won over once upon a time… in hollywood, nomadland won over mank, and coda won over power of the dog. the academy has been going outside of the box and giving the award to underdog films over the predictable hollywood circle jerk flicks. maybe the unpredictable has become… the most predictable lol. and on the topic of eligible awards outside of best picture, what awards outside of director does the fabelmans have a shot at winning? do you think it’s gonna win with a single director award? a movie hasn’t won best picture with just 1 award since spotlight, and that was an original screenplay win. with the exceptions of the artist, the shape of water, and nomadland, every best picture winner since return of the king in 2003 won a screenplay award, and eeaao has a really good shot at winning that, and based on previous critic awards as well as the critics choice, plus any future televised awards like the dgas and baftas, it might even take director(s)

I appreciate your comments! This is a lot of interesting info. I hope you prove me wrong! If I had it my way - EEAAO would take home everything they've been nominated for. (Although I guess supporting actress would have to tie for that to happen.) 😂
@BROJANGSTER Жыл бұрын
@@thefridayketchup hey, we’ve had at least 1 tie in an acting category before. fingers crossed 🤞🤞 although if we *were* gonna have a tie in the supporting actress category, it’d be between angela basset and kerry condon

"If the Oscars want to take credit for somebody else's struggle and cry about it, this is their film" They literally cried when they gave it to Ke. Eeaao always deserved to win, but it cleaned up the Academy specifically because it gave Oscar so many opportunities to take credit for other people's struggles, and cry about it. Who's "rooting" for Steven at this point? We're happy for him, he's great, but no one is going to cry when he wins

On the contrary, I would think Oscar really really wants EEAAO as it gets total 11 nominations, which enhance the chance of getting Best Picture, plus EEAAO won so many film trophies within USA (f*ck Bafta) which surely got the love from most of film critics.

Post Oscar Feedbacks: Can really see the love & passion in the Daniel’s. They cut across race to work collaboratively together, and came up with something creatively unique and impactful at the same time. To those who’s racist, look what can be achieved if you can just look at people not at the color of their skin. Daniel is right. We can all bring out our diversity to create something truly beautiful.Do not be swayed by politicians telling you otherwise!!! Congratulations to the entire crew and cast & Boos to those who are racists who are divisive. Has it ever occur to y that racists are happier if they are more embracing?

Thanks, but the award's scarecity along with it's unavoidable biases, which leads to the debates of it gives it the vaneer of superiority. It's a myth building enterprise. They know it is. And they don't mind us keep obsessing over it.

What I don't get is how little love eeaaao got at bafta. Was it less campaigning overseas? Did they less identify w the American immigrant experience? Were they biased towards a european movie? Eeaao still plays in theaters bc its audience has seen it multiple times. That means there millions that haven't seen it. Here's hoping the awards push it to its full potential

BAFTA heavily favours UK actors and European films. It’s considered a predecessor because so many UK actors also work in Hollywood, influencing the acting categories somewhat, but they’ve always done their own thing.
