Michael Rivers Zemo is in my top 3 favorite MCU Villains. He's the most relatable on a bunch of different levels. He has no powers, he's not a God, he's an ordinary soldier, he's not a robot, etc. He's almost a more relatable version of the Joker. A man who just came out of nowhere, that could almost be anyone.

The Line that Spider-Man gives when he says "When you can do the things I do, but you don't, and *THEN* the bad things happen, they happen because of you." Kind of ironic he's supporting Tony Stark since the Accords conflict with those ideals. Of course I believe Tony is manipulating him a bit by not giving him the full details. Simply "He wrong but thinks he's right so that makes him dangerous" as Spider-Man told Captain America in their fight.

It's implied that it hasn't been long. Uncle Ben probably died only a few months before Civil War. Peter says something along the lines of "I don't want to give Aunt May any more to worry about right now" in Homecoming. The loss of Ben is still fresh.

One of my favourite lines in the MCU is "I don't care, he killed my mom." Why? Because we know all about his relationship with his dad, we've been hearing about it since day one. All we've seen of his mum is her talking to him at the beginning in a hologram, but that one line tells you everything. It's not "my parents", it's not "my mum and dad". It's his mum, who was probably the only one (bar Pepper) who genuinely supported him without ulterior motive when he was growing up. Just... Urgh.... Gets me every time.

@Laurens Brettschneider imo it's hard to think of someone who just figured out their parents were murdered in cold blood (instead of a car accident, as he had believed for decades) and is facing off with that exact killer (whether he was brainwashed or not) as "bratty"... tony isn't reacting like a spoiled child being told he can't have what he wants. he's literally just reacting with the gut instinct of a child to hurt the person who killed his beloved mother. rather than labelling it bratty, i'd say his reaction/wording was completely understandable.

The character is an extremely difficult role to play and is very complicated and complex; on paper Captain America is probably a character I wouldn't have liked that much because he seemed so self-righteous but Chris's performance seemed so natural and it gave the character a lot of depth. Plus the fact that he is nothing like the character really speaks volume to his acting performance. I'm not trying to diss anyone but for mcu actors like RDJ who play a character like Iron Man who they are actually really similar to, it's easy for them. But when it comes to a character like Captain America who doesn't even seem human and no one could be similar to him because of how perfect he is, it's difficult to play that kind of role yet Chris did it amazingly. All the actors in mcu are amazing and they all deserve awards for their performances but Chris definitely deserves it more than most.

I'd like to add on another win here if I may, that someone on tumblr pointed out! When Spiderman catches Bucky's metal arm, you'll notice his eyes widen, and he actually lets Peter speak rather than counter attack. In the MCU, where literally anything can catch Bucky's arm, that's not what he's surprised by; he's shocked that Peter is just a kid. He's never seen Pete's face, and this is the first time he's heard his voice. It may look like he's just standing there to wait for Falcon to come in, but in reality he's pausing for a moment to take account of the fact he's fighting an actual kid, a kid who should be in school and be doing his homework, not dealing in grown-up stuff like this. Having recently watched the film again, I noticed something about the scene where the Winter soldier kills Tony's parents: as he picks up Howard Stark, Howard says "Sergeant Barnes?" which really changed the scene for me. The idea that someone else recognized Bucky who would be considered an old friend right before they got brutally killed was both a tragic betrayal and upsetting that Bucky didn't even realise it was Howard due to age so it didn't make any difference to the Winter soldier. That scene hits differently now

It's impossible to imagine what it would be like to remember actions that you had no control over at the time. As you said, Bucky wasn't particularly close to Howard during the war, but the memory of killing someone you knew, and seeing the pain you unwillingly caused their family, has to be immensely painful. When Tony jerks towards Bucky right after finding out the truth about his parents, if you watch closely as Bucky steps back and brings up his gun, (15:59), you can truly see the pain in his eyes as it really hits him that the horrendous actions of the Winter Soldier are, in part, his actions. You can see the weight of this burden fall on him as he, most likely for the first time, begins to realize the pain he has caused Tony and so many others, a burden he will perhaps carry with him for the rest of his life. Tony wasn't entirely prepared to kill Cap at first. It was only when Cap REALLY started hurting him that Tony realised it was all or nothing to avenge his parents. In short, Tony made the decision too late to be of any help in the final seconds. To avoid being one-sided, I think both characters match each other. Sure, Iron Man has a fancy suit with lots of gadgets, but aside from being smarter and stronger than your average man, he relies on his suit very much in fights. Cap on the other hand is extremely powerful and doesn't rely on the suit or suchlike - its more or less his ideology that can bring him down (he nearly died to Bucky in the final fight in TWS because he refused to kill his friend; unlike Tony in this situation, he wasn't really prepared to kill, at least not until something terrible happened to Bucky).

One of the best little nods in this movie was definitely showing the ease with which Spiderman caught Winter Soldiers arm. Spiderman is so much above Cap, Winter Soldier and the other "regular" humans in pure strength that it's not even slightly a competition. The thing keeping him down in this fight was lack of experience and you could see that in the choreography. Once Cap, Bucky etc. understood how much stronger Spidey is than them they noticeably changed to more trick and experience based fighting from brute strength and it payed off. Marvelous (sorry) little thing to show in the movie.

That point bothered me Cross Bones was proved in the last movie he was a Hydra agent and as a Hydra agent he would have wanted Steve to be dead anyway so even with out the ass kicking Cross bones received in the last movie he would have wanted Cap plus all the Avengers to die. and Hydra was created before Steve ever became a super soldier and if The founding Shield members would have killed Armin Zola Hydra would have been defeated in the first movie. The reason Cap even becomes a Super Soldier is because Dr. Abraham makes the Super Soldier serum and gives to the guy who becomes Red Skull. and then Cap gets the Super Soldier serum because he just wants to help people and does not care about the glory which also the reason Peggy starts to get endeared by Steve. And if Shield would have killed Zola instead of letting him go free Bucky would have never became the Winter Soldier thus saving Tony's parents and pretty much getting rid of the existence of Iron man and Tony becoming less of a dick because his mom is still alive so most of his enemies would not have a reason to try and get revenge on him. Thor would still probably come to earth because that changes nothing that happens on Asgard. Hulk probably still exists. Cap still gets found in the Ice but because Zola was killed Hydra does not infiltrate shield. also Steve and Howard get to have a cool reunion. So if Dr Abraham does not create super soldiers the MCU is just full of human conflict for the most part. and all 3 Iron mans are erased Cap 2 is erased because there is no Hydra infiltrating shield and no Bucky. the first Avengers happens just with no Iron Man. Age of Ultron is gone thus we get no Vision. Civil War does not Happen. Thanos can still be searching for the Infinity Stones and that would still lead him to earth most likley thus we get the Infinity Wars but with out iron Man and Scarlet Witch they would probably loose. So everything that happens throughout the MCU save us from Thanos wrecking everything.
@Kartissa6 жыл бұрын
*"if Shield would have killed Zola instead of letting him go free Bucky would have never became the Winter Soldier "* Zola had already performed some experiments on Bucky by the time he fell out of the train (how else could he have survived the fall?), and that mission was the one where Zola was *captured.* If SHIELD had killed Zola at that point, Bucky would probably still have become the Winter Soldier anyway.

Has he a right to be angry - yes, but attacking a man that was brainwashed into being a human waepon and should not even be considered a murderer ('cos he had no choice or agency one can argue that Bucky should be considered innocent).

I feel like there’s a missed win for the scene that gets two wins at 10:09. We’ve seen Bucky punch with his non-metal arm before, and there is zero reason to believe it would be ineffective, but he just kinda stares at Peter. He knows Peter is a kid, especially after he talks, and you can see it in his eyes. I love the detail with that, and how good Sebastian Stan is in that moment. Of course, it’s kinda basic sense to not punch kids, but Tony brought him here anyway, so I still think Bucky deserves a win for caring about the fate of someone clearly on the other side

JustYellow On that subject, I love how the symbols on Cap's shoulders change throughout the MCU in correspondence with where he is in his story. In First Avenger, it's a star, signifying his trust is in his country. Then in Winter Soldier, it's S.H.I.E.L.D.'s crest, showing that his trust has shifted from the country as a whole to S.H.I.E.L.D. specifically, in a way showing how he's being lead down the wrong path. Once he learns the truth about S.H.I.E.L.D. (& the government as a whole), he goes back to the star, showing that he now trusts an idealized version of America. However this trust doesn't last (it can't with him), so he replaces the star with the Avenger's logo, signifying that he trusts his team, until in Civil War when even that starts to falter. Finally, he goes patchless, showing that sadly, Cap only trusts himself, & even then not completely. Fuck I love these movies.

I believe that Stan Lee's cameo at every MCU film is related. - Stan Lee was a WWII veteran who's father was a general (Captain America) - In "The Incredible Hulk" he drank Banner's blood - In "Thor" he was revovered probably when he pulled of the bed of his truck - In "Avengers" he was probably tired living in New Mexico, so he moved to New York and even appeared in deleted scenes - In "Iron Man 3", I guess Tennessee was his home state or he visited his relatives in christmas and took a opportunity to be a judge in a local beauty pageant contest - In "Thor: The Dark World" it is unclear how he got into mental ward hospital and what reason - In "Captain America: Winter Soldier" he probably got tired of being retired and become a guard in Smithsonian but loses his job after Steve stole his suit. - In "Avengers: Age of Ultron" he, as a veteran, appeared at the party in Avengers Tower, and drinking. Probably because he lost his job because Steve Rogers. - In "Ant Man" he moved to San Francisco and got a job as a bartender - He probably lost his job as bartender too because as stated in "Captain America: Civil War" he is now a delivery guy.

take the looks on the events they use for the accords. if they had their way New york would be a radioactive wasteland. millions killed, and major trade up destroyed affecting all the world's economy. so the Avengers damage is far less and thus the lesser evil. the Hekicarriers. we know they released all the sheild files. and what they said those ships launch and 20 million people are dead. msot who actually die are hydra agents and the damaged limited to the sheilds location. so again lesser evil. Sokovia is their only defense and even there it's not the Avengers fault but TONY'S maybe the worlds sicne they failed to capture all hydra agents. the Wanda incedent. they are goign aftger another hydra agent and they think bank robbery but turns out it's him going after a bio weapon. and her move only 14 die were if on the ground at least 100 are dead, maybe more if she wasn't there. also the accords can not stand legal muster. what we know of them vioaltes at least one US constutional right and vioaltes a couple UN human rights so it has no standing.

I totally disagree. If the Avengers aren't as omnipresent anymore, the incentive to measure up to them and try to beat them would go immensely. So while the world might not have fewer villains in total, it would definitely have fewer "supervillains" who try to match the Avengers in power level.

10:39 - I always felt there was more to this scene. Peter being young, and Natasha being unsure of things is clear. But contrasted against Caps team... Years later, I feel like I found what I was looking for: It's a combination of Cap's words here and in Winter Soldier. Specifically his stance on the accords and armies. Like this video said on the subject of Cap's decision regarding the accords "But it's run by people with agendas, and agendas *change."* The Audience knows that Ross is supposed to be the stand-in for the government leader that cares more about protocol than protecting people, but for the team in the moment here and now, it's them questioning the stability and willingness to listen of Iron Man. This is why Ant-Man looks straight ahead, because he *believes* in Cap, despite not knowing the specifics of the reasons for the fight. But I think it also has to do with belief in an idea. That those on Cap's team don't just believe strongly in him, but also that their opposition to the accords is right. Hence why Rhodes and Vision on Tony's team is also determined, not just out of trust in their friend, but a strong belief in their cause. Meanwhile, Natasha and Peter's glances, and T'chala's *lack* of one hit home with what Cap said in the previous movie: "Soldiers trust each other *that's* what makes it an army, not a bunch of guys running around shooting guns." Natasha and Peter don't know if they can trust Tony's leadership, and like Black widow in the previous movie's actions which was why Cap confronted Fury like that in the first place, Black Panther is on a different mission from Tony. He didn't care about anyone else, his only concern was killing Barnes. Had Bucky surrendered, he likely would still have killed him, which isn't what Tony was after in the beginning. It's showing that Tony's team isn't focused and trusting, but Cap's is. This is also why things end the way that they do. In the first Avengers movie Cap mock's Tony's nature "You're not the guy to make the sacrifice play; to lay down on the wire and let another guy crawl over you." And what happens in Civil War? "Much as I hate to admit it... If we're going to win this one, some of us might have to lose it..." Cap's team "lays on the wire" to give Cap and Bucky the chance to stop Zemo.
@darknessknows12355 жыл бұрын
Natasha might be one thing but Peter was definitely just him wanting to see Tony was going to do. The movie showed he really had no problem fighting, and it's not that he glanced to Tony out of lack of trust but more for direction

The blast would have been no smaller on the ground, and in the middle of a busy market clause would have killed as many or more innocents. Plus it would plausibly damage structural supports on surrounding buildings, potentially taking the entire buildings with the . She didn't know she'd lose control, she couldn't know. The point is simple, she did the right thing, and the Avenger's decreased civilian casualties to the greatest extent possible.

Devin Gendron Maybe so, but it was still her mistake that she accidently led him into the side of a building rather than in the open air directly above the marketplace, and any person whose mistakes carry a body count needs something to be done about it. honestly, I don't have anything against Wanda in that particular scene... yeah she lost control, but she was trying to save people - she actually did... accidentally while doing so she killed others. I don't know if it had been more or less casualties without her, but she wasn't left with much of a choice besides trying to save them. However I'm going to argue, that they shouldn't have fought there to begin with... I mean... couldn't they have properly evactuated around the crime scene. or not let the villain run into the most crowded area ever... seems like a big blunder on the teams part.
