Bonedrewd was a good villain. He did fucked up things but he did it for the betterment of others. He was never malicious about it either. He cared about both the kids and probably the others too but he knew that the Abyss demands sacrifices for progress so he decided to be the one to make them to try to save others from the same fate. All the other white whistles probably had to sacrifice someone precious to make the whistle too, so i wouldnt be surprised if Boedrewd had helped them too.

1:34:45 A bit of context that was sadly left out from the manga : Pakkoyan, the girl that tried to save Vueko at the cost of her life here, and was also the girl with blue hairs in the flashbacks, was Vueko’s lover. It was revealed in a panel of the manga during the montage of Irumiyuui’s life with the Ganga, that showed Iru stumble onto her adopted parent doing the naughty with Pakkoyan. Their characterization as a couple is very subtle and never really explicitly alluded to outside of this small scene but this makes the sacrifice of Pakkoyan to save what is essentially her ex that she left to rot in a hole for ~150 years, just a teenie bit more heart wrenching.

Personally i give an extra win to s2 for -The meaning of Sosu. So cute that Faputa is trying so hard to be proper and royal-like. -The meaning of Haku giving much needed context to all season. -The ending having so much meaning in the last episode, being a declaration of love between Irumyuui and Vueko "I still remember you, the love you gave, even if everything has changed you push me to live on" "I still love you, even if i miss you" -The detail of one dragon killing the weakened one, as to say "Now you're weak, do your part and become food for the abyss". -Interference Units. Their existance basically confirms that the abyss holds multiple ancient civilizations. If the IU recolect knowledge from the abyss, then they're not from the original civilization.

That scene where they plan out their strategy and then implement it to inflict Bondrewd with the curse to make him suffer what he put Mitty through to give you an emotional high from the karmic justice, then crash you back down at full speed with Prushka crying over the papa she genuinely loved, then resurrect him right in front of everyone's eyes leaving with a weird feeling of being happy for Prushka getting her papa back but also disappointment and concern for the heroes because all that effort went to waste and their enemy is back like nothing happened is just the type of emotional roller-coaster that only this show can provide.

The best way I could describe this show is "Disturbingly Beautiful". Everything - the world, characters, their bonds, everything is so beyond gorgeous while at the same time filled with danger, dread and horror, and all of this is somehow mixed so perfectly to create something that can only be called a Masterpiece. I didnt have the time to re-watch S1 and the Movie before starting S2, so this video was a great way to refresh my memory, and S2 ended just few days ago so all the feelings from the Finale are still fresh. Watching Made in Abyss is like traveling into the Abyss. It lures you in with mystery and adventure, then rips your heart out and goes "What have we got here then? I wonder if it could be taken apart and put together again over and over - let's find out, shall we?".

It's just that I think it's worth noting that it was also Bondrewd's intention doubling Prushka as not only a way to access the blessing of the abyss, but also as a white whistle for Riko, as it is implied that while he's very very twisted and fucked in the head, he's caring and loving in his somewhat deluded mind

honestly i feel like bondrewd deserves a little more love in the form of a spot light. he's disturbing because if you watch him he's never angry in the movie, he never raises his voice out of anger, he is always encouraging and never rude in a way that seems rude to him. he doesn't mean to insult nanachi, he is genuinely proud of them for finding a way to put mitty out of her misery, he never demeans the main cast for failing to fully kill him, he compliments and encourages their teamwork. and most disturbing of all, he actually loves all the children that come to ido front (supported by artist), he knows all their names and even their aspirations and can tell which child is in each cartridge and a little bit about each of them, "she was a very kind person who dreamed of being a princess, isn't that beautiful": cruel on the outside, but disturbing because if you read it from his perspective it's really not. he is disturbing, because he is a villain with the power of love on his side, and that makes us able to put us in his position, because if it wasn't for the child experimentation, bondrewd would be a genuinely good person.

It's the unsettling fact that people hate to accept: even abusers and fucked up mad scientists can love the people they hurt (In Bondrewd's case it wasn't abuse out of malice, but rather abuse out of "ends justify the means" at least at first. Making him genuinely love all his test subjects was such a smart move to make the readers feel unsettled rather than just a big bad that most can hate without issue. Such good characterization.

I still have nightmares about what happened to Mitty. Some of them I am experiencing it myself. Considering I have numerous degenerative health conditions I feel like it's my psyche wrestling with the worse possible outcome. Will one of my loved ones want my misery to end one day as I continue to decline? It reminded me of when my Mom developed a very aggressive and rapidly spreading cancer. It reminded me of watching my brother decline from schizophrenia. He was high functioning at first. It delayed treatment. When his symptoms were undeniable it felt so sudden. He died of accidental drug overdose. This manga and the anime helped me and is helping me mourn. The ugliness and pain sweetens life in some ways. I experience a deep gratitude for the blessings this life gives me. Like how bitter flavors make things taste sweeter.

Now, there's only one thing to do: - gaze into the void (after experiencing only the best anime) and w8 for the next movie/season to come out in 2024+. Since there are just 3 or 4 manga-chapters out right now, i consider w8ing for the next movie, i guess. Made in Abyss is easily competing, with Pricess Mononoke, to be my new all time favourite. Insane worldbuilding. Also, Ouzen is just great in every way. After watching many anime, you become desensitized/fine to the childish aspect and the realism makes it also out for it. Btw, i'm not sure if people see that the curse/abyss also works for light. I mean, there is light on all layers, that comes from the top, but from the top we just see darkness, because the light itself is also trapped. Such a great thought.

There is no reason that man should be worried about anything. Lolicon in japan isn't considered pedophilia. Hell you can have the craziest fantasies ever, as long as they're drawings on a page, there is no problem with it and, in a way, I agree with that way of thinking. Fantasies are harmless. Being unaware of the differences between fantasies and reality is where danger lies. There is a difference between fantacising about, let's say, being raped, and actually being raped. That's why I think that the state of the hentai industry in Japan is perfectly fine, if not healthy because it helps people with weird fantasies to have some kind of outcome and pressure release and maybe keeps them reenacting these fantasies in real life out of frustration. To me saying hentai of any kind is dangerous is like saying shooter games are dangerous. Its not because some kid that shot up his entire class somewhere enjoyed shooting games that shooting games make kids violent. Its BECAUSE the kid was violent to begin with AND had a very hard time making a difference between reality and fiction that the unfortunate events happened. Here's the thing though, education is what teaches you what you can and cannot do in real life and well if an adult isn't capable of understanding that molesting a child is going to hurt that child, if an adult is capable of rape and basically putting their own needs before someone else's, even at the expense of someone else's werebeing, then I'm sorry but the issue isnt that person's fantasies in themselves it's their entire core education that needs to be redone. So no I don't think the author of made in abyss has anything to worry about.

Took me a moment, but i knew i felt familiar vibes from somewhere, Made in Abyss definitely reminds of the Etrian Odyssey series, they start out with your group in high spirits ready to climb (or descend, depending on the game) around a tree the size of a whole city and each few floors (usually 5) you arrive at new ecosystems where different creatures live, Layers in MiA or Stratums in EO, a journey no everyone can make due to the dangers involving it, and EO also has it's fair share of dark moments, nothing as cinematic as MiA but gut punches are still a thing

I need to say this, its something so freaking small of a detail but when i saw how the recap films reworked the OST, i noticed not only there were some unique songs added but also some unnamed songs i wish it was officially part of the records, especially with the scene where riko finds reg for the first time, not only the score feels more atmospheric but after realizing my love for Bass as an atmosphere setting really changes the perspective of feeling to any show or movie. If you ever find a chance to see the original recap film to that specific scene, you'll understand why i love the film version of it in particular when you compare it to the original. This is an amazing video BTW!

Personally MiA would be getting wins from me every damn second, but there was one scene that I'm shocked and appalled wasn't acknowledged! Shocked and appalled I say! When Faputa enters the village and we get that shot of her with the red light in her eyes and glinting off her claws and horns - that alone is worth wins. Also, the fact that the play of light is actually in the shape of the HAKU symbol is a stroke of genius (I swear I would've never spotted that if someone else didn't point it out on another vid). ALSO, Faputa's speech and her VA - the way she drops the tone of her voice, so cute previously, to murderous levels is just fantastic. As I understand it, voice actors are generally discouraged from changing their voice too much, if at all, when playing a character (I guess for the sake of consistency and recognisability, if that's a word). The fact that the VA was allowed or encouraged to change Faputa's voice so much is brilliant. Great work on the vid though ;)

This series is one of the top three series that has mindfucked me, but at the same time, has given me a truly unforgettable story with characters I love. Elfin Leid Dead Man Wonderland Made in the Abyss Are inspiring and twisted all at the same time, but Made in the Abyss has to be my favorite because of the insane level of detail in Every aspect, from the character development, the world building, the musical scores, the freaking epic mystery, and the absolute Legend of a story! They don't hold back on the darker or more uncommon bits, like characters getting mutilated or mutated, as well as them having to puke their guts out, or just go pee. A lot of these things are overlooked but are very much a present matter in adventures, you don't always have the convenience of quality or even palatable food, nor will you always have a safe or dignified place to relieve yourself, these are things you'll have to deal with and I love how they aren't afraid to be real with the audience. Seriously, how can a FANTASY series be so real with us? Finally, Faputa and Reg together is just too damn precious, I want them together forever! X3

We needed this. The combination of the artists, the voice work, the story, the music and everything else is unexplainably stunning, beautiful, emotional and every other good way to describe it. It's indescribable. The music made by Kevin Penkin is SO MASTERFUL. I literally cannot stop listening to the music. It has no right being that good, but at the same time, it has ALL the right to be that good

Dude i dont know if you know last month this game came out is a rpg open abiss for fans Its my favourite because im a fan the tutorial is the only thing anoying for me is the first 5 episodes of this anime The game is exploration survival rpg , the player create a explorer and try to reach white whistle rank and beat the dangers of the abiss possible go into bondrewd laboratory in the sea of corpses this is the last layer in the game for now, its the final of first season this game has many easter eggs for fans is made by a indie company. This show......it's so beautiful, an amazing and intriguing plot, but some of the darkest and disturbing things I have seen in an anime. I love it and will continue to watch everything they put out. I was still thinking about Irumiyuui's fate weeks after watching season 2. Faputa's VA needs all the awards. The screams on this show are so good I feel it in my soul.

Thing is, the manga has 3-4 chapters after the second season of the anime ended, so we are all pretty much on equal grounds in terms of knowledge.
