📍All the places I went to!
📍 John's Water Ice
701 Christian St, Philadelphia, PA 19147
Honestly, their lemon ice was legendary. Sad I didn't get to try other flavors but heard their pineapple is also godly. Simply the best.
📍Angelo's Pizzeria
736 S 9th St, Philadelphia, PA 19147
Cash only! Make sure to get there before 6:30 for last orders. You can also try calling in advance for a pick up order but they don't usually pick up their phone. Also heard their pizza is fire fire but I didn't have anyone to share with...
📍Saad's Halal Restaurant
4500 Walnut St, Philadelphia, PA 19139
A local hidden gem. Their chopped halal philly cheese steak is apparently one of the best. Really cute neighborhood joint and awesome options for halal food.
📍Taco Heart
1001 E Passyunk Ave 1st Fl, Philadelphia, PA 19147
So good!!! Their tortillas were made fresh and I honestly cannot express how much I loved their breakfast tacos. Limited space to sit though so be aware!
📍Isgro Pastries
1009 Christian St, Philadelphia, PA 19147
Their cannolis were 10x better than the ones I got in Italy. I keep thinking about their mascapone cannolis. Personally their cheesecake I wasn't a big fan of but everything else was very good.
📍Cafe Nhan
1606 W Passyunk Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19145
BOMB Bun Bo Hue. Broth is so so good. Pho is good but slightly on the sweeter side. Their bun bo hue is one of the best I've tried on the east coast.
📍Herman's Coffee
1313 S 3rd St, Philadelphia, PA 19147
Cute neighborhood coffee joint. Cheap coffee and really nice selection of tinned fish.
📍Malooga
134 Chestnut St, Philadelphia, PA 19106
Fool was so good. Personally found the chicken mandi to be too dry but their lamb was very tender and nice.
📍Reading terminal market
136 Arch St, Philadelphia, PA 19107
I could spend hours and days in there just eating. Must visit for first-time visitors.
📍 DiNic’s
51 N 12th St, Philadelphia, PA 19107
Broccoli Rabe Roast Pork sandwich. Very good, this sandwich is for the moist sandwich lovers out there.

Damn.. as a Philly native & food lover (my wife & I even did a Philly vs. Seoul cheesesteak episode on our channel 😅) I could NOT be more thrilled to see Dooby highlighting so many well loved and stellar local spots.. Angelo's, Saad's, Isgro, Reading Terminal, Taco Heart, Cafe Nhan, etc.. A killer lineup! Watching this just warms my heart so much ❤ Thanks for visiting and going all out, Dooby 🙏

For future reference we pronounce it REDDing ... not READing.Terminal Market . Also, on the DiNic's pork that's pronounced broccoli ROB even though it's spelled RABE. Come live here with us. As a person who has lived here (Philly) 9 years and worked in the restaurant industry here going on 6 years, great job. Definitely showed off the smaller businesses that are hidden gems in the 6th largest city in the U.S.. When you come back definitely hit up the restaurant scene here too. It’s very competitive between some small restaurant groups and so the food is spectacular. Let me know if you need some insider knowledge of the food scene here.

@@PullthaleverKronkooo that’s a toughy for all of them because a few will have a different dish I enjoy there. Love to help though! For Ethiopian, I’d say Gojjo, Kaffa Crossing, or Abyssinia in West are good. Eastern European food, go to the far Northeast, Bustleton. I love Georgian Bread but there’s a bunch in the area. For Vietnamese or Cambodian, check out Washington ave area. Where she went, Cafe Nhan is really popular for Viet! I really like going to FDR park on weekends, Viet & Cambo families have stands set up. It’s budget friendly & a nice way to spend the afternoon.

I'm a native South Philadelphian. To see you go to John's Water Ice, where we used to go when I was a kid (60s and 70s), walking there with my cousins after dinner was so nostalgia-evoking! I've been living in Texas for 25+ years and I miss Philly! My grandparents had an Italian corner grocery store about 4 blocks from the Italian Market. I remember the smell of cheeses and salami, the wooden pickle barrel. I have very Proustian memories of the Italian Market, too! I love this video. Also, all the natives know that Geno's is a tourist trap. The best cheesesteaks and sandwiches are always in the little mom & pop places, in Philly & the burbs, and in South Jersey. I'm moving back to the east coast soon, and really can't wait to go around Philly. It always was a great melting pot as far as food goes, but it's increased it so much! I can't wait to try it.

Johns also has the best ice cream hands down and I’ve tried ice cream at places all over the US. I also frequented saads when I worked at Penn cause they are 100% halah which is nice. I’m og from queens New York and I agree food in philly is just better mostly bc it’s easier to approach and not saturated, but the food is definitely amazing. I’m in love w this vlog, it shows stuff that people don’t bother checking out because it’s not mainstream but it’s better than mainstream

I get to see things with fresh eyes, which makes me appreciate them more. CHEESESTEAK NUMBER ONE SANDWICH YES (Geno's sucks, I'm glad you threw shade at them). Philly is so wildly underrated in terms of its food scene, glad to see someone acknowledge that! Please come back soon and try even more, I've loved every second living here

I went to Philly once probably 15 years ago now and since I’ve traveled the states and world. I always tell people Philly had some of the best food I’ve ever had, even back then. I need to go back! 💞
