This is such a wonderful routine. It’s rare I see people actually nurturing themselves in these kinds of videos but there was zero “calorie counting” and he actually ate what he NEEDED to replenish after such a long run. This is great to see!!!!
@Anula9937 ай бұрын
The thing is, it is not that easy (at least not for everyone) to eat enough food to replenish after long training runs without counting calories. I am recently training for a longer distance and doing long slow runs over the weekend (up to 6 hours) and eating that much calories back is almost impossible normally. So far, I kinda scramble along eating slightly more doing the week to replenish for the weekend, but it would have been so much easier with calorie counting. What I am trying to say: calorie counting is a very good tool when you are pushing your body out of a typical situation, because, really, just as your body doesn't have that much of an idea how to behave, but thanks to countless other people doing it, we as humanity generally know.
@sunset79435 ай бұрын
long distance runners usually don't need that calorie counting because they burn too much calories on long runs anyway
@Anula9935 ай бұрын
@@sunset7943 That's the thing. You burn too many calories and your body (at least mine) does not give you enough hunger cues to replenish that (personally, if I don't eat enough gels during a long run I will typically have problems eating anything at all for the next 3-4 days). So the problem with "intuitive" eating here is that you are not eating enough to properly recover from that run and are not gaining the endurance/muscle/speed improvements you could have otherwise. I can only imagine what happens for proper athletes that do these long runs more than once a week.
@sunset79435 ай бұрын
just eat bro its that simple@@Anula993
@jacksonanuszkiewicz5 ай бұрын
@@Anula993You make a great point with intuitive eating. When I used to run ~80 miles a week, it would be difficult for me to feel hungry the rest of the day after the morning runs before it got to 100+ degrees. However, I feel that counting calories is not necessary. Set times to eat and pay attention to carbs and protein because those are the important things for storing and burning the fat your body stores for energy. Also, the quality and type of food you eat can impact the hunger cues as well. Foods that are good for athletes who rely on explosive, fast twitch muscles aren’t necessarily beneficial for endurance training.

I literally did the same thing yesterday and felt like a piece of shit even though I have an otherwise productive life. Don't let people fuck with your head and make you feel worthless or lazy just because your sleep schedule is fucked up. But you should fix it for your health because fucked up sleep schedules increase your chances of getting dementia when you're older.

alright this seems like the perfect day. a nice run, nice food, and to top it off, a date with your girl. checks all of the boxes

Bro, perfect day is the one in wich you surrender to Jesus Christ. Anything different than that is vanity of vanities. (But sure, it is a good practice to wake up early, make some exercise and other things that is good for you both in the short term and long term

I'm most impressed that you didn't wear earphones the entire time.
this is so inspiring. I dont know if I would have been able to maintain that pace for 16 miles. You finished that within 2 hours which is astonishing. I feel inspired to run 5 miles for no reason now! Thank you!
