Love Kara and Nate and their adventures! To save you a little bit on buying detergent, you could carry the laundry sheets (flat like dryer sheets) that work as both laundry detergent and dryer sheet. I know backpack weight is primo so may not be an option but i stick a few in our suitcase whenever we travel (in suitcase takes up NO space!) and it saves me from buying the overpriced laundry supplies at my destination.

I met two thru hikers today on my way to host at a camp for the weekend. I had a short opportunity to talk with them as we all were eating lunch. As I was getting ready to leave I offered to take any trash they wanted to get rid of. They said thank you, but because they had just left Harpers ferry they didn’t have much. I figured it was the least I could do.

Do you switch to a summer weight sleeping bag once temps get warmer? Learning lots! Vids seem about 7-10 days behind real time so you are getting close to,1500 miles now. Keep on hiking!

@TaylortheNahamshaHiker
@TaylortheNahamshaHiker Жыл бұрын
I usually buy a small box of ziplocks every other resupply (I'll check any hiker boxes first) then I throw extras in my food bag for the next resupply. The camp soap has lasted the whole hike for me, I only use a drop or 2

This stretch is beautiful and this corner of ct is so quiet and peaceful. The first part runs thru ( supposed) old growth and the pitch pines on bear mountain are amazing. Long time passed but at the bottom of bear was an incredible log cabin ( another atop nearby Alander)... Sages ravine...trail follows the steam down by many waterfalls. Not a thru hiker but from Rhode island , but I used to camp at riga lake, and this is my favorite place nearby.
