@icarusty6481Ай бұрын
To be fair to the Doctor, I’m assuming that the “I never land on Sundays” thing was a 10th Doctor rule, specifically. In that case the only time 10 is confirmed to have actually *landed* on a Sunday, as opposed to the day just rolling over naturally or the Weeping Angels sending somebody there, was when he was loopy from regenerating and may not have had very much control over the exact date he went to. Also, if I needed to recover from something like that, I’d probably choose a more boring place than normal.
@9nikolaАй бұрын
Also I'd say Christmas Eve probably cancels out the boring of regular Sundays. He did specifically decide to land on that date because it was special

I suppose an interesting thing to note is that at least half of these Sundays are *after* that quote in the Doctor's personal timeline. Not sure about the certain David Tennant episodes outside of the his first adventure post-regeneration (Haven't watched Doctor Who actively for a hot minute, so my memory of the episode order is very hazy). I also feel Blink is a special case because people were being sent to that date by the Weeping Angels, not the Tardis.

Noting that most of these are either a holiday to begin with or a day of importance in history we can guess that he makes exceptions for those events. Also we can ignore all the old doctor who stuff as it might be an idea he only came up with after Survival as Ace put the seed of how boring Sunday is in his wee head. But we still have a few episodes that don't fit that so maybe he was just saying that in reference to certain travels or more likely the writer didn't think it would matter & be taken as a joke & never would've expected someone to waste their time doing this. But thanks anyway as it was fun to see this.

Apollo 11 landed on July 20th, but Neil and Buzz didn't walk on the Moon until July 21st. EDIT: Granted, the moon walk was at 02:56 UTC, which would have been 22:56 Florida time.

I love how by that logic we need to include everything that happened after 12 pm on a Saturday because then it would have been Sunday in Australia xD
@wtfmcgurk6315Ай бұрын
I think it still tracks because it's Sunday where the story is happening. It's just late enough on the Sunday that in England it was the Monday already. Australia doesn't come into it but if there was a story set in both England and Australia you'd need to think about these things.

@wtfmcgurk6315Ай бұрын
Tbh the issue is not really "there's very few Sundays" it's more "most Doctor Who stories are vague about when they're set". If a story is set on an alien planet then half the time you don't even know what century it's set in. Even if there are human characters we often don't get more than a vague era to go off. These are just the few stories that A) are specific enough about when they're set and B) are set on a Sunday.

I’m playing devils advocate, 13’s happened after 10’s comment, 9 at Krakatoa could easily have landed the day before. The Vincent episode could be the very early hours of Sunday as they stay with Vincent, so he could have landed on late Saturday evening. The doctor does not land on a Sunday in blink. He lands on the Saturday in evolution of the daleks. 13 really landing on two sundays in one series, she’s a menace. We definitely did not land on the Sunday in kill the moon. Christmas Invasion is 2006, Runaway Bride is 2007, Voyage of the Damned 2008, The Next Doctor is 19th Century which gives time for us to catch up to the show's present in End of Time set in 2009 which is the only RTD Christmas Special set when it was released.
