Yes there must be a point where you go, is it worth it? This had done its job; the rust, bushings, etc. really tipped it over the edge. There has to be a point even if it is your own car and it gets to this condition, you have to just let it go and get what you can. Thanks for reminding us to not let our beloved cars to to this. Great stuff as always.

I really like the Mk3 Mondeo, as well as the Mk1 Focus. I should buy one of each before they all vanish. [ I remember when you could pick up a tidy Mk2 Escort for about £500 ! ]

seeing a mk3 Mondie on an 03 being sent to the scrapper makes me uncomfortable about my current daily (Mk2 2005 focus) I know the time is coming, I'm just not ready for it 😭 I've owned, and loved my focus from 2009 and its took me everywhere. shes a pampered girl to say the least.

I ran a Mondeo of this generation right up to 369,000 miles before it was scrapped in late 2011 (EA04GYZ) however it didn't have anywhere near the crustiness of this one underneath despite a very intense life as a taxi. This must have been stored on damp grass or similar for a considerable length of time or maybe even underwater! 🤣😂

@chris jones I totally agree that the Petrol engines are week got a mk3 Mondeo 2.0l Petrol and only on 86,000 miles and had to replace coil pack and spark plugs due to misfires and the IAC unit failed causing the car to rev up when slowing down and idle rough Luckily I’ve also got a Mk1 Skoda Octavia vrs only has 200,000 miles on the odometer but is so much more reliable then the Ford

They do rust but... never this bad. The reason? Tow hitch....some jerks been dipping it in the sea to offload a boat/jetski. They do rust but never this bad honestly. It's been Seasalted so not the cars fault. Guarantee it

Next time why not scrap it using the online guys? Remove my car or car take back would have paid easily £300-320 for that. And they pick it up from you, no need to drag it down the scrap yard. Hope that helps 🤙🤙
@ShiftingMetal2 жыл бұрын
You reckon? Sounds like strong money, do they break them for parts or something?
@sammytheseal23072 жыл бұрын
@@ShiftingMetal If you punch the registration into one of those websites along with your postcode you'll be surprised. The car just has to be moderately complete, a few bits of missing trim is ok but needs to have engine, gearbox, catalytic converter, wheels etc The price you're getting there £160 per ton is what you should be getting by weight if you had removed the catalytic converter yourself or stripped part of the car and was taking the shell. But when it's not been stripped, it's worth more. The higher prices would simply take into account the catalytic converter, or a lot of them auction them off and fetch a premium that way. The companies I mention are a comparison site, it'll be any scrap merchant that picks it up but the price is the price. Redcorn salvage is another one, and Charles Trent but varies massively by area. Try all 4 for every car you scrap and I promise at least one will offer at least £100 more than you would get weighing it in at the scrap yard 🤙👍
@sammytheseal23072 жыл бұрын
@@ShiftingMetal Also if it's a newer car (10 years or less I think?) They will pay a premium if it runs and is in acceptable cosmetic condition, (£300-800 on your average scrap car less than 10 years old)
