The last Mondeo I owned was a 2006 2.0 tdci bought for £750 in 2015. It had less than 100k on it and I thought I'd bagged a real bargain. When I drove it home I noticed a slight rattle so the next day I took it to my mechanic and found out it had a broken spring. I also discovered that the flywheel was on it's way out so straight away £1300 for a new flywheel, clutch and a front spring. About a week later it went into limp mode as I was overtaking and nearly killed me. This was something that happened almost every time I drove the car I actually kept the car for 3 years clocking up 150k but despite dozens of trips to different mechanics I never found out why it kept going into limp mode?

That's a nice car for the money. People make fun of Fords but clearly they're well built.

'It's a bit crass isn't it?' You are not wrong. Personally I loved both Mondeos I had: reliable, cheap to run and service, got me to work and back, up and down the motorways in Summer and snow. Also loved the heated windscreen in Winter. Good cars.

Great cars, but just goes to show the issue with the used car market at the moment. This should be circa £750-£1000. Not your fault as you're just selling the car at the current rate but a 19 year old car should be basically scrap value at this point unless it's something special; but because of current inflation they're just not.

Fab review of a hugely underrated car. I'd love one especially with a heated front screen. My daughters boyfriend bought a 2014 Mondeo Hatch recently for £800 and its awesome. Make no mistake these are very good cars.

What do you have against taking shoes off indoors Matt? 😂 I married a Japanese lady who hammered the rule into me and it’s much nicer to keep the inside of the home nice and clean. Why do you want to bring all the crap from your shoe into your home? I’m with you on sofa protective covers being silly tho. Why buy a nice comfy sofa then put that on because you’re worried about damaging it? Makes no sense to me.

Famous for electric faults, and traction control issues. Plus you have to take half the front off to change a headlight bulb. Good heaters and reliable though.

I drove 3 Mondeos between 2001 and 2009 (2 the shape of Goldie in your video) and covered 360,000 miles and the only mechanical issue I had was one seized rear brake caliper when i was heading to France for my hols. I recently bought another Mondeo on a 15 plate as they eat up the motorway miles effortlessly at low cost. Brilliant workhouse cars that people look down their noses at but are great to drive, economical and cheap to run. Looking forward to seeing your favourite countryside litter bin again soon....sorry i meant to say affordable older car. Great video Matt - keep up the good work.

Now they are number one in the US for recalls 3 years running. Everyone I know who has had recent Ford have issues. Fiesta, Mustang, Escape, F-150 all had issues. Some major some minor. You don't buy a Ford for quality or reliability. Frankly I don't get how they are still in business with how many markets and segments they left

I ran a 56 Reg 130 TDCi estate (in 2012) for seven years. Pound for pound the best car I ever had . I modified mine by deleting the EGR valve , fitting a KN air filter and putting a Drake Box 2 on the fuel rail . Also fitted a Discovery intercooler . This turned it into a rampaging beast . However it also returned 55mpg!

Excellent no-nonsense vid. This is what KZbin was invented for. He takes the risk of buying unseen, does the necessary and deserves the profit. No doubt gives some sort of limited warranty too. He risks giving second-hand car dealers a good name!

It's good to see cars like this that were looked after and living a good lifespan, so many of them were driven to the moon and back and scrapped within a few years. I know people like to mock the "Mundaneo" but they were competent everyman cars back in the day. Not very desirable but they served a purpose and did it pretty well. I had a '94 mk1 years ago and it served me well.

We bought a cheap Mondeo to do the Crumball Rally, drove through France, over the Alps, to Turin, back over the Alps and finished in Nice. We did everything we could to kill it including frying bacon on the exhaust manifold whilst driving through France (the smell was awesome), trying to burn out the clutch in the hotel car park in Nice (the smell was awful). What an awesome car it was. Never had so much fun since.

82K on the clock is nothing for such. Acar and it's been proved again, it's not age that kills a car, it's lack of maintenance. The Duratech engine is a Mazda/ Ford thing and those 1.8 and 2 liter engines were also used by Volvo and are chain driven so no belt to replace. This particular Mondeo is just like new and the price is spot on too. Thank you for the upload.

I had to stop the video and comment. I 100% agree with your sunglasses comment! I find it so incredibly rude, disrespectful and discourteous when people don’t remove their sunglasses when greeting other people. Eye contact is very important as a mark of respect to the person you are communicating with. I thought I was the only one that felt this way! Love your videos by the way, great content and always entertaining Ok back to video.
