You share your innovations/inventions both the ones that work and those that don't. You illustrate what you tried to plan for and how you improvised to get through a sticky situation. Sometimes a.person just has to ride out bad weather or such. Lastly, you give your followers a fair idea of unforeseen financial costs and what things needed to be repaired or replaced. Your videos are always entertaining! Thanks! Continued Safe Journeys!

MPG! You are exactly right! A small amount of miles per gallon can save you a lot of money over a long period of time. It's even more apparent when you equate that savings to the extra beer that you could consume! ☺️

$3 or $4 a gallon, we can only dream! As of today the UK equivalent is about = $9 (US) if I've converted that about right I actually almost enjoy all the little snagging issues and thinking how to fix them - as long as it's not major structural stuff. Great update

Yesterday here in Canberra, Australia, I paid US$6.60 per gallon for diesel. Petrol (gasoline) wasn't much cheaper. Was much much cheaper just before the war in Ukraine. I wanted to have a salad for dinner but thanks to climate change floods here and now a wet, cold winter, lettuce are hard to come by (supermarket stocks low or non-existent) and have reached AUD $13 (US $9) each in places. A pack of 4 tomatoes was AUS $11 (US $7.62). So no salad, just cheaper potatoes and broccoli.

Have you ever considered carrying a hammock, under quilt and tarp? You can set them up in 10 minutes anywhere that has two trees 12-14’ apart. Very flexible shelter arrangement at home, camping, or even day use at a park. Recline at a 30 degree angle from the hammock line for maximum comfort.

You made out much better than me. All after an uneventful trip, 3 blown tires and 14 hrs by the side of the road in New Orleans. Fridge doors flew open breaking the hinges and threw raspberry vinaigrette all over my cream colored carpet. Dinette table broke off the wall. Got home safely although upon waking up and going to figure out how to fix things, my windshield was cracked in the lower right hand corner. A motorhome windshield. Huge bucks. Probably from the 70 mph winds that almost flipped me over in PA. Afraid to ever go out alone again. Love traveling, driving, just not alone again. Now at my cabin and winter has returned. Beautiful, really gorgeous white covering all you can see but delays my projects. I feel like the dropped over daffodils outside. Hopefully I pop back to life like them when the sun and warmth return. I can really relate to your travels Slim. And, my goodness, the trees, yeah! Always praying! Compressors with cords are a pain, I got a Ryobi P731 compressor/inflator a few years ago (and Ryobi P747 when Home Depot had a deal on them). Love it. It's great. Plus the 18V batteries can be used in other Ryobi tools, LED lights, blowers (to clear a camp site), etc....Ryobi even has some (18V and 40V) Battery Inverters. I don't want to sound like an ad for Ryobi, but they have nice and handy stuff for home and on the road. Edit: Oh and battery/120V powered fans too.

A couple of tips for the Jeep to get a bit more life out of the transmission (black and burnt fluid is never good, transmission is over heating), consider the addition of an auxiliary transmission cooler (if not already done) and I would also suggest given the amount of towing and travelling you do, a quality transmission temperature gauge. Also don't forget about the oil in your differentials, if your shop doesn't already note it when you get it serviced. Cheers.

Good to have you back in Canada! We headed south the first of March for just over a month. Hoping it will be longer next year. It was the first trip we'd taken in our 'new to us' trailer that replaced the one that was stolen from us in 2020. We also had a new phone plan with Bell for US and Canada. Worked great! Our only issue was occasionally with debit and credit cards not working! Not due to lack of funds or payments. Just finicky gas pumps! It's all part of the adventure! Take care!
@ScubaSteveCanada2 жыл бұрын
Sometimes, the pumps won't accept "foreign" credit cards and you must go inside and pay at the counter. If prompted for a zip code, in your own postal code take the first three numbers then add two zeros at the end. i.e. if postal code is M1R 1E9, the zip code becomes 11900. Works most of the time but not 100% guaranteed.

Gas mileage was worse in Florida due to air temperature, you want cold/cool air drawn into an engine for greater effeciency. This is why in modern cars the air intake is outside of the engine compartment or at least near the outside.
@michellegarry18722 жыл бұрын
Interesting. I have lived here in south Florida for 16 years. In 2 weeks I am moving to Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. I will definitely test out that mileage thing. My 2017 Ram 1500 4x gets decent mileage (14-15 city, 18-19 hwy). I would love to improve that especially with paying almost $5 a gallon!
@johnm20562 жыл бұрын
Add an intercooler like they have on diesels. They cool the air before entering the intake. This makes it more dense.

The alcohol they use in winter fuel. Helps with knocking. Also if you use fuel with a lower octane rating you get knocking. Also if you use to high an octane rated fuel the electronic fuel control will toss in extra fuel to keep the engine at the right temperature for the internal burn. What is the best octane rating for your vehicle when towing?

Slim, in the old days, when they were making things out of meatal, things would wear out and break down. However, one could usually replace the parts and one could usually repair it. Now it seems that they transferred this trade secret to plastic merchandise. They really cheapened out, you have no choice except to buy a replacement.

Our next went to Detroit about half way there it quit working after we delivered we droped the trailer and found a phone store and took it in to see what was wrong the battery had died in the meantime the guy pluged it in to get it turn on and it worked he got on the phone to see if they could explain why found out that all you had to do was shut it off and turn it back on turns out that some time that it would get hung up on a tower and it would keep looking for that tower no matter where you were

A good assessment of things to be aware of when traveling. I had the same exact swing-down jacks on a popup camper I used to have. They worked well, but also got corroded and could be difficult to get to swing down. WD-40 usually took care of that problem. I also had mystery parts with that camper. Many times when popping it up, there would be a screw or something on the floor. What was the snowboard for? You probably explained it in a previous video, but I wouldn't know which one to look for. I also used to have a Jeep Liberty. Enjoyed it a lot. Sounds like you had a nice trip and now are safely back home. Enjoyed the video.

Happy to hear you are back safe. Can’t wait for cabin updates. Check in to possibly returning the inflator. I was surprised when our local auto store said I could have returned one a couple years later, because it malfunctioned. Also we have had good luck with Camco suction mirrors. I see poor reviews, however if you wipe off where you put it on your existing mirror and don’ over tighten, we have not had a problem with them. Flat for drivers side. Convex for passenger side. As to the camera, I hope it can be fixed. However, I just called to see about fixing one of my cameras and was told it wouldn’t be worth it, and that is if they could even get the parts. I hope it is under warranty for you. Though warranties aren’t worth much, if they can’t get the parts or lack of workers push the repair out several months or more. Hope that all goes well for you!
