A german magazine had an interview where they got some new infos. here a short summary: Game supports Ultrawide Resolutions, they mention you can use 2 4k monitors to achieve 7680x2160. Units can still fire through walls atm, they could fix it, but they are not sure if such a huge gameplay change should be done. They are open to it if the community asks for it enough. A-Move is fixed, as well as enhanced AI by the people at Forgotten Empires New Higher AI Difficulty, where the AI doesnt just cheat to keep up(it still cheats, but said difficulty is higher without more cheating) Home City Levels to get new better cards unlocked are a thing of the past. All cards are available from the get go(great change imo, i still have some home cities not fully upgraded after hundreds of hours of play) Home City still gets new Decor on level ups though. (singleplayer campaign still has card unlocks as before) Swedes are the aggressive new civ, uses gunpowder and mercenaries.(they say a civ AOE3 fans will feel at home with) Inka are the defensive new civ, good walls and special fortifications.(they say a civ AOE2 fans will feel at home with) Sioux and Iroquois are getting overhauled, with help of people from these cultures they changed the civs to represent them better, as mentioned gold is replaced with fur trade(works the same from a gameplay perspective, but they didnt use coins as the europeans did in that timeframe). Story missions for Warchief expansions will also be reworked, with a Native American writer redoing the story so its less of a "natives are the henchmen of the europeans" story. No new Campaigns, but the historical battles will be used to show stories like the one of Francis Drake raiding spanish ports.

@André Alcântara the main thing with unbalance in AOE3 its that it doesnt got any atention at all from Microsoft when it was realeased. just think how much work was put in AOE2 since it lunched in 1999 between Voobly, FE and DE. i really have high hopes for AOE3 DE since i loved wath they did with AOE2

I think he along with many other AoE2 players say that (they believe) AoE3 is a lot less detailed and a lot more monotonous or same-y, like you don't get the same variety of metas in 3 as you could with 2. That's why they all put out scarce to no content on it.
@mord554 жыл бұрын
Seconded! If SoTL started doing some AOE3DE videos, I would be very happy. I'm sure he wouldn't make it his full-time thing to replace AOE2, but maybe if Microsoft gives AOE3DE the support that AOE3 never got, maybe it will become competitive and worth prolonged attention.

Sweden had a few colonies, one of them was New Sweden in todays Deleware river towards the coast and lasted for 17 year (1638-1655). The logghouses exist still today in USA so they had a lasting imprint. The colony was conquered and taken over by the Neatherlands. Many of the inhabitants of this settlement where also people from Finland or finnish speaking swedish people. Whats interesting is that the Swedish settlers had good relations with the Natives I think they where called the Susquehannock in the area and trading guns to them and also had an agreements for trading pelts. The reasons for them essentially being the settlements protectors was how the firearms helped them wage a war against an alliance of natives. They even sided with New Sweden against the Neatherlands in the take over of the colony and was very protective of it due to the benefits they got from trading.

I always preferred AOE3 too AOE2, because of the home city feature and how much uniqueness their is between civs, especially with the later factions. But their were some problems I had with it. The unit cap was one. While it was 200 hundred, many units cost more then one population. Calvery, artillery, mercenaries, special villagers, and several infantry. It could range from two to six population slots for just one unit. The maps were just not as fun as two's. Their was no real randomness like you could get in two, and you could increase or decrease the size of the maps. With only a select ones getting a larger version. They always felt the same, with the only real difference was your placement on the map. Any if you were playing with the max of eight, on some maps you would be placed within two dozen or so tiles of your allies. Their just wasn't any room. The defenses, besides the fort, mostly felt useless after raids ended. Walls barely ment anything, besides a slight slow down, and towers were just limited to eight max, with castles being limited to just four. And the only reason forts felt like a problem, was because the AI loved to park them in the middle of the map with a army standing right next to it. The resource gathering was to simple. No strategy, besides defending them, involved most of the time. They don't need to drop off resources, with every one just teleported to your stockpile.

It looks fab! Two new civs is way better than I was expecting, especially the quality & unique character they’ve clearly given both the Swedes & Inca. I’d really like to see an option to disable batch building for multiplayer, and the ability to play with fixed Home Cities (both of these I’d consider analogous to Age2’s alternative formats such as Empire Wars or 500 pop). It would also be amazing to see more civs in the future. Notable civs I think definitely warrant an include are the Haida (also known as the “Vikings of the Pacific Northwest”, famed globally for their totem poles), the Moroccans (Morocco was a major rival of both Spain & Portugal throughout this era, and it was only after Iberian expansion into the new world that they truly gained the upper hand), Ghana (Ghana was the major player in west Africa during the period of Age3, and it was their unfortunate history of slave taking which inspired the European Triangle Trade), Austria (one of the Great Powers of Europe at the time, and a major rival to France & Prussia), and Arabia (this would be the most ahistorical civ, since Arabia was ruled by the Ottomans at the time. However the two groups had very different cultures and Arab revolts were common especially those concentrated around the holy cities of Mecca & Medina) It would also be great to see “Germany” renamed to “Prussia” to more accurately model what the in game civ represents. They could have a Revolution option “German Unification” which renames the civ to “Germany” and boosts their signature unique units.

@@housshil3675 Absent only in popular history. If you asked the average person what was happening in Africa during the AoE III time frame, most people could point to the slave trade but probably little else. A lot of people assume Africa was colonized right away, like the Americas, but for 90% of the continent this wasn't the case until the very late 1800s, like 1870 on, which is at the very tail end of AoE III. There's a lot there - its just overlooked. And I'd say Morocco deserves a spot - the Saadi dynasty saw the limelight early in this period, 1500s-1600s, defeating both the Portuguese and the Songhai in succession. And places like Fez saw a bit of a renaissance after receiving Muslim and Jewish refugees from the conclusion of the Reconquista in Spain.

I'm hyped about AOE 3 DE. Mainly because NO MORE FORWARD CASTLES (Building too close to enemy starting tc is not allowed in aoe3) . I can play without constant castle drops! The aoe 2 players can keep castle dropping each other while the rest of us go play a better balanced and more refined game. With more variety of units and strategies too. Spirit I hope you cover AOE 3 too.

I don't know much about Scandinavian history, but I'm also pretty sure that (some) Swedish houses had straw roofs. Not sure where and when this method was used, but I've seen quite a few houses in Skåne with that technique. Even some of the new houses use it, but I think it's quite a luxury and only rarely done nowadays.

Yeah, I'm from Indonesia. According to Wikipedia, Indonesia has many historical because The Netherlands (Dutch) invasion to Nusantara (Indonesia) and they called them Dutch Indie. They colonization to Indonesia for 350 years, since Dutch civilization already playable in AOE 3 vanilla. In a game AOE 2, they were called Malay civilization which include Malaysia, Indonesia, southern Thailand, Singapore but campaign scenarios focused to Gajah Mada and Hayam Wuruk. So in game AOE 3, Indonesian civilizations has only mods 'Struggle of Indonesia'. Myanmar also has history during British invasion like India. Bring Koreans civilization for expansion DLC because they impressed to Hwacha and turtle ship and Joseon Dynasty. Also bring korean wonders like Asian Dynasties such as Hwangyongsa, Namdaemun Gate, etc... Sorry just only know that civilization...

I suggest: - Remove box formation for cav (Opri box) - Rework Japan to not be so OP, such as changing the ability of Buddha. - Fix French Cav - Allow for limitless supply of wood for nations that don't have factories/shrines. - Slightly improve early game defences to reduce the ridiculous impact of early game rushes in large 3v3 or 4v4 matches. - Improve ranking system

Including Historical Battles over a new campaign is pretty fair, honestly. The campaign of both Vanilla and War Chiefs were a specific fictional story, that of the Black household, spanning a few generations. Asian Dynasties had to buck the trend, though, but at least one of them still went for fiction in the americas. EDIT: Personally, I'd like to see an option to use a HUD more reminiscient of the old version. Even if the 8 Gigabyte RAM demand is presently beyond me, it would be nice for that to be a thing.
@Steelion694 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't worry too much about ram, I think the recommended specs are only for 4k, and max graphical options at the most, and 8 GBs if you just want the basic low resolution stuff.

I know AoE3 gets a bad wrap for it's inferiority to Aoe2, but it actually did do some pretty cool things. I liked the treasures in the early game, and the fact that forests weren't this weird impassable thing in Aoe2. I also liked being able to train units by fives, and some other things too. I'm not a fan of gold being farmable- kind of changes the dynamic of games (so everything is a trash unit in AoE3?) and every villager just collecting resources as they gather rather than needing to drop off.
@Alias_Anybody4 жыл бұрын
I personally love the fact that coin isn't fundamentally different than the other ressources. Wouldn't make too much sense in the age of gold fleets, plantations and industrial production, right? Wood is still collected faster and can be upgraded quite cheaply while infinite coin collection at a decent rate requires a bunch of quite costly upgrades.
@vegannegan96524 жыл бұрын
Wood is the valuable resource in aoe3. It's also gathered at a very slow base rate.
@Wesujin4 жыл бұрын
You can "farm"gold, yes, from plantations, but they are insanely expensive to build and the gather rate is horrible. Best way to get trickle gold is calling in factory cards.
@HerralemanZyG4 жыл бұрын
Wood is the most valuable resource and pretty scarce in some maps, also slow collecting rate (unless you play Indian)
@gastonhitw7204 жыл бұрын
for me I don't think it is inferior, I mean for players that have been playing nothing else than AOE 2 of course they'll say that, they don't know anything else! they are comfortable watching and playing the game, for years and years, this game just feels completely different, but it has a good multiplayer, there are top players either,. In this DE they could change some fundamental parts of the game, like "no ballistic by default", not a "super early aggression"(in mp you have to attack your enemy very early on) changing units building chain, changing the card to a more "balanced use" etc etc... but for me the normal AOE 3 is fun, different and definetely a good game, the campaign is enjoyable too

@@_Doskii I think it's more common in the north, though I may be wrong about that. You want to look for old log houses. The game devs actually realised this mistake, and they created a thing called xp mod. U start a game with someone with xp mod, play for a min, resign and u reach lvl 100 instantly. And if u remake other civs, they will also be lvl 100. Also difference is not really big, like 1 or 2 more units.
