“Depression tricks happy people into thinking they’re alone.” You summed it up perfectly. You can have genuine joy in your life and still experience some unbearably dark moments. Please find someone you trust to let them know when you’re in that dark place. Be vulnerable with your loved ones. And check in on your family and friends, even the ones who seem like they’ve got it all together. They might need your support the most.

I saw the news yesterday morning and I will never forget my reaction. No, no, no, no, not this one. Not this family. No. Having severe depression, I can understand the why and how a person gets to that point, but Twitch was the kind of person us depressed people seek out and want to be around. That uplifting light and smile we need to see to help us through. I seek out positivity, and that makes him the last person I thought I'd be mourning. This one gut-punched me.

I am so sad about Twitch. Everyone keeps talking about "you need talk with somebody", you need to look to somebody", but a lot of time this "somebody " doesn't wants talk with negative, some really say "be far away from people negative, those who put you down", it forces people to act like they're happy, because shows their emotion will be back like they're weak. I am really sad about him and his babies.
@Purpleeye6002 жыл бұрын

Absolutely, I agree it's hard to believe and saddens us. You're correct in these times we're definitely experiencing negative forces in this world. But we can counteract this with a higher force to overcome darkness which is to "Love". Those of you who are a light shine for whoever is in your space to be that positive impact wherever you go. These times are definitely uncertain so, we must be persistent in promoting self-care for ourselves and sharing and being supportive with others. We all certainly feel impacted by a loss of life in the same way. God Bless ❤❤❤❤

Thank you for covering this story so respectfully and for really talking about how much tWitch affected people. His dancing and personality has brought me so much joy ever since seeing him on SYTYCD and I, just like everyone else, assumed he was very happy. Despite the fact that I myself fall into that same category of seemingly always happy from outsiders perspective despite battling major depression for over 13 years of my life. Everyone, please check on even your seemingly happiest friends because you never know what they might be going through internally and your support could mean a lot to them. And if you're like me, please reach out for help in whatever way you can whether that's to family members, friends, a therapist or a hotline. Sending love and support to everyone out there, but especially to Allison, Weslie, Maddox, and Zaia.
@thetreasuregarden.creates2 жыл бұрын
He may not have just "seemed" to be happy. With depression, there are not always dots to connect. And not all of us who wrestle with depression feel alone. In my case, I am very joyful, grateful, outgoing, creative, active, full of laughter, in therapy weekly, helping others...but when hopelessness does set in, it can take me to dangerous lows. When you ask me how I'm doing and I say "fine", I really mean it. While it's important that we do check in on our loved ones, you should know that the moment you check on them, they may be doing great, so do not feel guilty or responsible if that person later leaves here at their own hands. It's not a clear cut condition and checking in is the most loving thing you can do, even if it doesn't save them 🙏🏽💖

Same here. I can’t imagine ever getting low enough to act but man I’ve hit it pretty low sometimes. It takes daily sometimes hourly repetitive structure, pray, balance, fresh air, laughing. Takes a whole lot to run the machine that runs me I try hard to grin and bare it if I just talk myself into knowing tomorrow is a new day and when I don’t know what to do I try my hardest to remain the same and do nothing new when I’m unsure. It’s hard seeing these things happen tho. I can’t remember the last performer but really cried about if I ever have. I think notorious big has been the only other. Crazy. So sad. What a loss. Depression is a disease. It's something I've truly only felt this year in honest waves of hopelessness and crippling fear. It's more than just a sadness, it can be so scary...I've always misinterpreted it with sadness - but it's so much worse. I am so sorry for the pain that Stephen had, and I am so sorry that this demon got to him. To those who are dealing with this disease, as so many of us are, please remember the child you once were; imagine that child and protect that child as best as you can

Im a mental health nurse and ive never seen anyone woth severe depression present the thecway he did. Severe depression involves making no future plans (if planning suicide), they lose motivation, are unable to function, neglect theirselves, sleep a lot and the list goes on. Idk, seems very unusual to me that there were no signs at all. To not even leave a note for his family? Again, very odd because if he went to a motel to do it then he mist have had concerns that he didnt want his family to see him like that which means he cared about what his family thought so to not even leave a note (that we know of) to say sorry or give an explination doesnt make sense to me

Not sure if it's feeling alone, a lot of these people come from big families and even celebrities with endless attention. It's just a medical phenomenon not studied or understood yet. I would go as far to say it is linked to something we eat because these adrenaline rushes seem very spontaneous and temporary. Not sure why depression is in our brains to begin with, but something has to trigger it and it's not always bad situations. So if not always phycological then the physical must be included.

Pure sadness 😔 and grief, I can't put into words the heartbreak 💔 I'm feeling. I'm a person who was diagnosed with suicidal ideations,although I often presented myself as happy and strong. I was hospitalized at a critical point and learned much from great care. It is a continuous journey which requires continuous professional care. There are small demons that can pop up in my life and I know 👎 now to not try to struggle through on my own. My fantastic psychiatrist told me once when I questioned how did this ever enter my life? He advised me to never try to stand in the middle of the fire and try to put it out myself, but to know and run to the closest exit. This disease took me to my knees at times when from the outside world I had everything going for me. I am honest and open about what I know is a hidden disease. I'm sending all my love and prayers to this family. I will keep Stephen in my prayers 🙏, he always brought much joy into my life. I urge others that if any suicidal ideations come into your life, help is there. Run for help,it's very accessible and I am still working daily to talk about what is truly going on with me, and I'm not alone. See you in heaven twitch, I'll always honor your memory ♥️ and Thank-you and Allison for all the joy that you guys brought you to me. God bless and please get all the care you need. Yeah but sometimes talking to people doesn't really help either and people either don't know what to say or don't have the right things to say . Like the worst things to tell a person in that position is oh you're a strong person , it'll be okay , or stay strong, or be strong or this too shall pass , or tomorrow it'll be better, tomorrow's a new day , or better yet like my sister-in-law used to say get over it or my mom pick yourself up by your bootstraps or get it together girl...none of those things are of any value and make things worse
