They are talking about their past. A person this young is fresh out of highschool and is very much a kid in this confusing world. Even if he was king of the world, he's still roughly 2 years away from HS and thats a kid IMHO. Not to mention that "trauma" sticks with a person for years if they never get to the root of it. Most people dwell and sink into their problems and they always are on your mind. I am sure you have something you regret... how long ago did you do this thing that you regret? I regret things from 10 years ago (lies, whatnots) and I would still drown in them if I did not make a personal change to learn from it and never do it again! Look at your 21 year old self, was that as an adult of a person as a 28 year old? A LOT of life between HS and being 30. If you are young, you would only know by asking others.

I think the fact that they almost immediately said “we believe he's working alone” even though his car was parked at his parents house and he clearly got a 50mil ride there either from a friend or uber.
