After watching your EWWC: Harry Potter series, I find it _VERY_ ironic that Jeremy constantly calls Anakin creepy for having a crush on a girl that's only five years older than him, and yet, every movie in HP, he constantly jokes about Hermonie being "hot" while she is very much _WAY_ under age in those films, even in Deathly Hallows. Ironic. He calls out other people for being creepy... but not himself...

It's actually incredibly thematically important that Anakin's eyes turn Sith yellow the moment he slaughters the Separatist Council. This is much more clearly elaborated on in the novelization than the film itself, but Anakin's eyes change then because that is the first time he actually ENJOYS murder. He killed the Tuskens out of rage and grief for his mother. He killed the Jedi younglings, reluctantly, out of a twisted sense of duty to his master. But the Separatists... he enjoyed their suffering and their screams for mercy. That was the moment he truly started tapping into his hate for power, as a true Sith must. So that's when he gets glowing Sith eyes.

Padme's seemingly abrupt change in personality in Revenge of the Sith can easily be explained by a combination of 1) pregnancy hormones do weird stuff sometimes, and 2) she's been a high profile politician during the first large-scale war the galaxy has seen in generations, and when we see her in Episode III it's almost always in the context of her private interactions with her husband, it makes sense that she'd be able to be the most relaxed during those times

Anakin's cheesy sand line is also indicative of his time as a slave on Tattoine - soft sand tends to be either deep desert (like you see in Book of BD), which was once supposedly ocean or near water. @@adamjanek3511 Why not? People always forget that Vader never knew that either of his children survived until Palpatine told him who Luke was in Empire and didn't know Leia was his daughter until he fought Luke in Jedi. Tattonie is a backwater planet that only has a fairly minor imperial presense and it's not like the random Stormtroopers on the planet are going to know jack about the name Skywalker. Outside of Vader himself and Palpatine there's no one in the entire empire that knew Vader used to be Anakin. Let's not forget that by the time of ANH Vader is so deep into the dark side and clouded by it that he doesn't sense that Leia is his daughter, or that she's even Force sensitive, when he's literally right up in her face. Nor does he realize Luke was his son at any point in ANH. Of course the real reason is simply that Lucas didn't come up with Vader being Luke's father until he was writing Empire, so he was kind of backed into a corner here and Luke had to end up on Tattoine with the last name Skywalker no matter what.

Another angle of the "I have the high ground" quote is that Obi Wan had been there before. He knows the whole jumping over the person move because he did it himself. @PosthumanHeresy
@PosthumanHeresy Жыл бұрын
@@DLFLux I agree, but also, Obi-Wan trained Anakin. There's pretty much not a single move that Anakin knows that Obi-Wan doesn't know he knows. This is the same criticism people have about the Obi-Wan series duel with Vader where people are like "how can you say they're not going for the killing blow each time". Because they are experts at fighting each other. Almost every sparring match Anakin did growing up was against Obi-Wan. Everything that looks like a try at a killing blow isn't because they both know the other can take it and will respond in kind. It's even why their final battle is so subdued. When they're actually going for the kill, they play chess. When they're just keeping each other busy and trading blows, that's when it looks frantic. For those two, a serious fight slows down because they are running fifty different versions of the battle mentally and are skipping each of the energy-wasting moves. Obi-Wan isn't saying "I have the high ground" because it's inherently superior. He's saying it because he knows how Anakin fights and knows Anakin will try some over the top flashy stuff whereas Obi-Wan's preferred lightsaber form is all about defense and turtling so it's like Ali vs Inoki.

I don't get why CinemaSins or anyone criticizes Padmé for "being melodramatic". Everything she loved was twisted and destroyed in front of her. She lost her career and legacy under autocracy, she lost the Republic she fought for, she lost her friends in the Jedi Order and Clone Army, she lost her husband, she lost hope when people applauded when everything she held dear was torn down, and she lost her sense of safety now that Palpatine was hunting his enemies. She had nothing left to live for after back to back traumatic experiences. The only thing left was to raise her kids in a fascistic society that hunted their kind (force-sensitives) or a dangerous backwater berift of conviniences. I'm not saying her dying was "good", by it makes sense she would at least lose "the will to live".

Actually considering the “I don’t like sand” scene - first of all Anakin says it after Padme describes her memories in which she talks about sand so it’s not like he just said it out of nowhere. Secondly Anakin grew up on a desert planet as a slave - no wonder he doesn’t like sand as it can and for sure does remind him of his not so happy childhood. Third - it can also just be seen as a jab at Padme’s story in which she mentions some other boy which as we all know is an easy way to trigger Anakin. With the last one I just mean that he may (and as Clone Wars shows few times that he does) get easily jealous even of totaly “non-threatening” men when it comes to Padme so maybe he just says it as a way of showing his distaste for her story in which there is some different boy which makes him uneasy when he imagines Padme with some boy having fun. All in all I just wanted to say that the “I don’t like sand” scene is not as bad as everyone says. Yes it is dumb and awkward (and memeable of course) but it’s not that tragic if tou take those three into consideration. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

One thing I think some people don't get is that midichlorians don't change what the force is, they just give a deeper understanding of how we, as living beings, can connect with it. The force is still exactly as described in the original trilogy, we just have a slightly more scientific reason why some people are stronger in the force than others. I kinda get why some people don't like them being introduced, but I really don't mind them. Midichlorians do not "explain" the force. They are merely a biological way for Jedi to roughly judge the potential for force use someone has. The are NOT the force. The force is still its own thing in the PT.

@@P.HATHCOX originally, I thought it was a conflict as well until I rewatched the first movie and phantom menace again. Here's the quotes from both. "The Force is what gives a Jedi his power. It's an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together." " What are midi-chlorians? Qui-Gon Jinn: Midi-chlorians are a microscopic life-form that resides within all living cells. Anakin Skywalker: They live inside me? Qui-Gon Jinn: Inside your cells, yes. And we are symbionts with them. Anakin Skywalker: Symbionts? Qui-Gon Jinn: Life-forms living together for mutual advantage. Without the midi-chlorians, life could not exist... and we would have no knowledge of the Force. They continually speak to us... telling us the will of the Force. The prequel trilogy is two eras, the thousand year peace (TPM) and the Clone Wars (the rest of the prequels) If you like the Galactic Civil War, you like the Original Trilogy. That's it. If you like the Clone Wars, that doesn't mean you necessarily will like the entire prequel trilogy. Same if you like the high republic/thousand year peace era. Also they used "Force Speed" to avoid the shielded droids on the ship. 26:25 There's even more reason for Jango to be aware of what's going on here. This whole movie is a setup. Only a Jedi can find the clones without it being suspicious. Zam Wessel was Jango's bait. Palpatine is the one who specifically recommended Obi-Wan for this job. Jango uses a weapon that can exclusively be traced back to Kamino. He only fires this when the Jedi will be able to see him and pursue. Palpatine's plan accomplishes everything he needs here. Anakin is split from any Jedi that could hold him back. Padmé, the main dissenting voice in the senate is kept away from the vote. Kenobi is finding the clones and just so happens to be who Dooku wants. Then the senate is given a reason to vote for the militarization act because of the droid factory on Geonosis.

The novel Brotherhood, set not long after Attack of the Clones, also has a master plan by Palpatine with the Separatists and Republic as the pawns. A neutral planet, the home world of the Nemoidians, is attacked by an unknown group and Obi-Wan is able to negotiate to investigate while Dooku insist on having his own agent present to avoid political bias (don’t read the back cover if you want to keep the surprise). Multiple times Obi-Wan needs to be careful as he knows this could end the war (which we know doesn’t end up happening because of Clone Wars and Episode III) or make it a hundred times worse.

No, Palpatine recommended Obi-Wan because he had Anakin as padawan, and he knows what Padme means for Anakin. Jango was hired by Dooku because Nut Gunray wanted Padme dead. @InfernosReaper
@InfernosReaper 2 жыл бұрын
@@Сайтамен That last bit seems like a really stupid and hand-tipping want to do it. Getting Jango to use something that easily could be tracked there was a good way to expose the existence of the clones to the Jedi. Jango leaving his gear where it can be seen was a bit sloppy, but honestly he easily could've just explained it as "there was a bounty on that assassin and I took it" and that would've basically been that without things being *too* suspicious.
@o0Evo0o
@o0Evo0o 2 жыл бұрын
@@InfernosReaper I'd think Kamino would've contacted the Republic themselves once the war kicked off if the Jedi hadn't found them- "we were beginning to think you weren't coming" suggests they've been considering that a possibility, anyway. Sidious' plans aren't generally super micromanaged- mostly he just engineers situations where the Jedi loose no matter what. This particular set of circumstances was definitely not planned for, but I'd guess the idea was for Obi-Wan's investigation to take him straight from Jango to Dooku without the detour to Kamino (ie Dooku gives an address with Jango behind him or something), and have his execution kick off the war.

A missed sin not counted is Jeremy saying Jar Jar stepping in poop is a metaphor for the franchise. Not Phantom Menace or the prequels but all the movies. To that, I say, “You’re wrong and couldn’t be more wrong even if you tried.” Not only are the prequels over hated for stupid reasons but Jeremy proves once again he doesn’t know what he’s taking about…..Ugh!

11:38 What I enjoyed about the original E.U is that Plagueis wasn't exactly directly responsible for Anakin's creation but it was more of a byproduct from Plagueis trying to seize control of the force over several rituals and experiments. So the force pretty much said "I can do what you cannot, ez" and bore space Jesus lmfao. Anakin is essential what they referenced as a "backlash" or "punishment" against the Sith for going against the natural laws of the universe.

There's a lot to unpack, but to me, the dumbest sin is sinning the Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru scene. Jeremy's logic seems to be that it is stupid that Obi-Wan would leave Luke on Anakin's home planet with people he knew. However, Tatooine is actually the perfect hiding spot for Luke since Anakin's deep hatred for his home planet means he is less likely to ever go back to it. On top of that, how could Obi-Wan know that Anakin had met those two before? On top of that Anakin met them ONCE! That would be like if you tried yelling that somebody tried to hide my kids from me by giving them to that nice Polish family I met at the grocery store the other day.

The I don't like sand line is not as dumb as people make it out to be. Anakin grew up on a desert planet as a slave so sand reminds him of his childhood. What makes it a bad line to me is Hayden's delivery of the line

Gotta love Jeremy thinking monarchies and democracy are mutually exclusive, when elective monarchies (monarchies where rulers were voted in either by assembly or democratically) existed in so many places as far back as ancient history, including examples in Macedon, the ancient Roman Kingdom, the Holy Roman Empire, Anglo-Saxon England, pre-1687 Hungary, the Kingdom of Kongo, the Parthian Empire, the Mongol Empire, and many more.

12:40 On top of CS not getting how stories work, Qui Gon honestly has a point considering how the force has already been shown to work, with stuff like precognition. The force has been established as guiding certain things to happen, and the sheer amount of coincidence that led to Qui Gon locating one of the strongest force sensitive people in the galaxy in such a remote and nondescript location so far outside of their original plan’s way, due to the influence and omnipresence of the force, is evidence that SUPPORTS what he’s saying: that this meeting was meant to or fated to happen. He’s literally explaining why such a strong coincidence happened in that very scene!

You know, I personally haven't really paid attention to the original trilogy as I mostly consumed Star Wars through games and spin-off content, but whenever I heard the Padme and Anakin age I thought it was a huge age gap. It wasn't until this video I decided to google it and find out that yes Anakin is nine, *padme is 14.* I always thought she was an adult here which would give *some* credit to the claim that it's creepy, but now that is just dumb

"There's know way he could have known they'd be here"...Jeremy says about Jango Fett...JANGO. FETT. One of the biggest badasses in the series that could have actually fought Sidious and maybe even won, as he beat Obi-wan in a fight, outsmarted Count Dooku, and held Mace at bay for an extended period of time, along with fighting seven jedi at once with his bare hands and killing all of them. In other words, Jango is a scary bitch.

I'm sure someone's already said this in the comments of one of your videos (or somewhere else on the Internet at the very least), but have you ever wondered if Jeremy goes on about his life everyday like it's an "Everything Wrong With" video? For example, whenever he wakes up, he says, "Ah, I don't have to go to work today! Convenient! But I won't get any money, so what's the point of not working?" or, "Ugh, my favorite restaurant is as busy as always cliché..." Anyways, I hope you enjoyed your trip to Japan!
