Another possible sin: How the heck did Tris get really good at fighting? She was just okay at it in the first movie, and the initiates only trained in it for 10 days or so. That is not enough time to develop action-hero-level fighting skills. Her fighting off people with guns is some bullcrap.

well in the books the main thing was that the government genetically modified areas of the human race to "fix" them but instead created the people who live within the factions in the book. The divergents are unmodified people, and the factions were made to "fix" the modified people over several generations. The ones outside factions were considered subhuman and left to be homeless, when in reality they were essentially just people with slightly different brain structures. I haven't read 1984 before but I feel like that's not the plot

Emily Hendrigan I don't remember clearly myself, but I defiantly remember that the machines didn't say that Tris was the one they were looking for. The guy in the book was all like everybody thinks you are Abnegation and Dauntless, but you are also Erudite because blah blah blah, something like that. I don't remember what it was, but it did not involve anything mechanic, just Eric (I think) being a person about to get stabbed

nah, from what i saw from this sin video (didn't watch the actual movie), 70% of this movie is shooting, they show a person falling off a building, close-ups of people getting shot in the head, tris beating peter (or was it caleb? don't remember) to a bloody pulp against a glass wall. if anything, that scene would have been more on the comedy site, at least that's what it was to me in the book. plus, the peace serum had actual plot relevance, since it's supposed to keep amity people calm and cheerful and, alongside the other faction designed serums, has pretty dubious origins that will most likely revealed in the third movie (not gonna spoiler it just in case)

Christ, these movies are just about how special special a special girl is because she is so goddamn special because she doesn't fall into just *one* of a couple different groups. The groups don't even make sense. Dauntless, the soldier/cops/parkour bastards, probably would not have children because what Dauntless lady would want to be slowed down? So where would a technician that follows the order of an engineer at a power plant? Not exactly Erudite as he is just a blue collar guy. What kid is going to go "you know, the farm life is for me"? What happens if some slobbering idiot that can't chew with their mouth closed goes for Erudite?
@Skyebright19 жыл бұрын
Well the idiot erudite would fail the initiation, amity would be people who were born into it or wanted a safe initiation, the technician could be from Abnegation and not everyone from dauntless is in a physically demanding job, most of them just stand around the fence that no one generally goes in or out of
@juicycoutureee9 жыл бұрын
A farmer type of person would probably go with the Amity(not sure how it's spelled) folks. A technician would go to Erudite most likely. They are molded into whichever groups they chose.
@RoguSpanish9 жыл бұрын
+ZergrushEddie I was disappointed that these videos didn't once mention the lazy hackneyed premise of a super special teenage girl who doesn't fit in with the other groups because she is far too special and unique and so everyone is out to get her for it. The whole high school allegory is more thinly veiled than a used fabric softener sheet. They keep saying it's a ripoff of Hunger Games, but it also looks like a ripoff of Twilight to me.
@31webseries9 жыл бұрын
+Magnus “Bushido” Ballspunch I really despise these prophecy storylines where the fantasy is apparently to be told your special for doing fuck all, you just happen to be born a pretty pretty prince or princess. That's why I actually like the Hunger Games. That chick is so real she's not even likable. She just happens to have a particular set of skills, circumstances, and flat out balls - that if anything come from being born extremely unlucky and anything but special - that lead her to victory. Kind of like real heroes.

Something easy to hate about these YA-books, and adaptations, with their panoply of vague dystopia, vague overlords and abundance of vague, young beautiful people. If you're a teenager and secretly want to be the cornerstone of a rebellion against a thing with evil overtones, just watch Star Wars.
@TheKeyser949 жыл бұрын
+DaveDexterMusic Funny thing is, that you are totally right, Star Wars was the first Twilight, even with a totally bland and blank characters like Luke Skywalker that stupid child's and idiotic teenagers at the time could project themselves into.
@davedextermusic71299 жыл бұрын
TheKeyser94 And you are entitled to that opinion even if Star Wars is highly dissimilar to Twilight, but I must point out that you ironically used the phrase "stupid child's".
@TheKeyser949 жыл бұрын
DaveDexterMusic What kind of audience you think that would go to see this movie in the 80'? Adults, no. Children and teenagers mostly, and is like Twilight, Luke is a totally bland character that any teenager with two brain cells can project themselves into, funny, when Lucas try to make an actual character aftermath (even that it was a horrible actor) every Original Star Wars fans bitched into oblivion because they missed their blank character. Star Wars has the typical Young Adult plot mixed with the Lord of the Rings mythos, to appeal the narcissist side of teenagers at that time, maybe is the reason why they continue to so fixated to that even today, is they little power fantasy that they can comeback every-time that they want.

Something I've always wondered about is what if they did one of these stories where the hero character has nothing particularly special about them within the world's setting. Think about it, most of the tween oriented block busters of this sort, good or bad, the main hero who heralds the big change has something rare amongst everyone they'd be compared to: - Percy Jackson is a son of one of the "Big 3 Gods", something very rare because of the pact. - This movie, Tris is divergent, which is rare because of the eugenics or brainwashing that makes everyone single trait oriented. - Maze Runner, Thomas has those flashbacks that imply some kind of history with the people involved (I didn't follow that one as well to be truthful though) - Harry was a Horcrux because of that encounter when he was a baby. Even in non-book adaptations like (I presume at least) Jupiter Ascending, this corruption she's stopping on the Galactic scale only involves her because she was the one in a billion with the exact gene sequence or something. That's one of the few things that kind of interests me about Hunger Games: Katniss is a completely random girl who volunteers for the game and ends up thrust into a bunch of other shit afterwards. I find it more interesting when the hero becomes some great figure without some natural gift or prophecy backing them.

There are only two good scenes in this movie. Killing Jai Courtney, and Naomi Watts shooting Kate Winslet.

im really disappointed he didnt include any comments on Triss's hair after she wakes up from a nap in that holding cell when her brother comes and talks to her. I had to pause the movie and laugh for a few minutes before going back it was such a mood killer.
