@@sebaschan-uwu Yeah, in the comic this is based off of, seeing her child killed in front of her makes her go crazy. But slowly over time. Not immediately like in the movie. There’s even a heartbreaking scene after she lures Jim Gordan to a decrepit building having kidnapped Harvey Dents children. She dresses his daughter up in the Joker outfit, and tapes guns to the girl’s hands before taping her mouth shut (the dark knight seems to have taken this idea). When Jim shows up he shoots the child, and Martha, hiding nearby, slits his throat. Then Thomas Wayne as Batman shows up, and after a lengthy chase confronts her and tells her about Flash and that they have a chance to change the future and save Bruce. She snaps out of her craziness for a moment, and even hugs Thomas, asking about Bruce and what he grew up to be. He says he grows up to be like his father. At first she thinks he means a doctor, but when she finds out that Bruce grows up to be Batman, she goes hysterical again and runs away, only to trio and fall into an open chasm and die on impact. Sin#102: You're talking about a Kal-El that was captured by the government as a baby and has probably lived his entire life as a science experiment, but you wonder why he's undernourished, timid, and generally terrified of people?
@jondunmore42685 жыл бұрын
But if the yellow sun still gives him super-strength, just how did the govt hold him and experiment on him, when he could've just walked out at any time?
@avidreader85215 жыл бұрын
@@jondunmore4268 When they enter the holding facility, Kal is in a room of red lights. It's never explicitly stated, but it is implied that they are red sun lamps and that Kal has likely not been under anything but them in his memory. Kal looks startled and scared when he sees the world outside the facility, which could be explained by trauma (and likely is partly due to trauma), but he also clearly has no idea what his powers even are or how he might control them in the scenes immediately after when they are confronted by the soldiers. He's doesn't understand what his laser vision is and vaporizes several soldiers accidentally because of it. These things combine to create the impression that Kal has likely lived out his life thus far under red sun lamps, having no idea that escape would be simple if he managed to damage them and be exposed to yellow sunlight for even a few minutes. But, beyond this, there's also learned helplessness to consider. Learned helplessness is a condition in which a given subject eventually stops trying to alter or escape their situation because all previous attempts to do so have failed. It is a pervasive sense of "I have no control and nothing I do will affect this and it will probably just make it worse, so why bother?" If Kal had previously attempted to escape and/or had been previously punished for trying to use his powers, it seems likely that learned helplessness would come into play as a psychological factor affecting behavior, especially given that he has been held for pretty much his entire life. The whole thing with Kal in Flashpoint is complicated and messed up, and in no small part because we don't really know much for sure about his situation. I read the implications into those scenes from a background knowledge of the Superman mythos on a whole, making sense of the scenes as presented.
@scottmatheson33465 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the sin in this case is not that the characterization is illogical, it's that it misuses the most important character in the movie's canon - he is marginalized and changed drastically to get him out of the way so the other characters can do an edgy grimdark plot, one that cheats on its dark ending (and thus renders itself meaningless) by reverting it at the end. And I say that as somebody who liked the pathos of this alternative kal el. The fact that this kind of plot would not work with superman around doesn't mean they were right to cut out the very heart of dc canon so they could do what they wanted, it means they should have chosen a different plot. Remember "sins" are a broader category than "plot holes".

@SILVERF0X133 жыл бұрын
@@jockeyfield1954 There's lots of small changes in flashpoint. Harley goes by yo-yo and has a whole different getup. In flashpoint, Martha goes crazy and takes up the moniker long before the red hood would have been a thing. In addition, Thomas has been shown to be pretty much all lethal in his form of crime fighting, so if nothing else, I'd guess he would have just shot red hood before or during the transformation. Or really, it could just be that everything did happen the same, but because there was already a joker, the og joker just took up a different name like Harley did. @andyoats5 жыл бұрын
Well for starters, the whole "DC Comics" as a sin really IS just because of C in DC means Comics. The sin isn't because Jeremy hates DC, the sin is for the redundancy, like Paola said. The other sins for some of these things is explained by what they define as a sin. One thing that used to be pointed out often was that, when sinning a movie, "the books do not matter". This was expanded upon to mean that any information that the source material contains that is not mentioned in the movie is fair game for a sin. It's mentioned in the comics of course, that Flash can heal super fast or whatever, but not mentioned in the movie. As such, it counts as a sin. Lastly, and this is probably the most important bit, the sins literally do not mean anything. And I mean it as in "literally" literally, not "figuratively" literally. If memory serves, the exact line was something like "The sins have no meaning, because if they did then they'd lose all meaning." If you didn't know that, well it's not as if they advertise this fact anymore so it's understandable. But now you do know, so keep in mind that this isn't meant to be like "136 reasons why Flashpoint Paradox is a terrible movie" but more of a "I found a variety of things to mention about this movie, some good, some bad and some funny, so here they are!" kinda deal.

Literally every Flash battle can be summed up with "he should easily beat this person". It honestly baffles me... I am a huge Flash fan yet I can't overlook the fact that he can't seem to stop someone from shooting at him or hitting him, etc... Dude is so fast he can travel through time yet he can't instantly subdue a few weak criminals with guns? How does Captain Cold ever even get a chance to fire his gun? I get it... cold can slow the Flash... but not if he just insta-punches Captain Cold in the face in a one hit KO before he can even finish squeezing the trigger. I see this a TON on the live action TV show... It makes me sad. I want a smartly written Flash story... I would prefer to see him absolutely decimate common criminals and have fun with it, instead of watching him get beaten in stupid situations and then constantly have some super villain who somehow manages to run faster than the fastest man alive... That's literally been the premise of almost every season of the show. "I'm the fastest man alive! Well... except for Reverse Flash... oh and Savatar (yeah I know)... oh... and also Kid Flash beat me in a footrace... b-but... I'm the fastest!"
@jonathanlong45807 жыл бұрын
you do realize that going that fast even for him does expend a lot of eneregy lots of times he has to eat A SHIT ton just get his energy back and thats only half speed. There has been times he had to go top speed to beat a villain and after maybe 4 minutes yes yes he did win but in just 4 MINUTES he was damn near dead saying he cant go that fast. you have to imagine it that way i honestly think its stupid when people complain about that okay yes his powers include ultra fast movement and healing capabilites doesnt mean his stamina is refreshed given the guy CAN BE OUT OF breathe lets put it this way. running 200 miles for flash is like running 5 miles for the average human MOST CAN DO IT but they are out of breathe after wards. Most can Also push past it. now put flash at his top speed and yes he can hold it but not forever. he is still human under all that he may be a meta human but he is still human. HE gets tried and exhausted like anyone else. PLUS it still putsa strain on his body to GO THAT FAST not like he can do it every day
@jonathanlong45807 жыл бұрын
oh plus going that fast he may make a mistake and he MIGHT kill someone same with superman. so please please look at the bigger scheme and logic i love all comics read a shit ton and the only person i have a problem with is superman
@k0nidias7 жыл бұрын
Okay but what requires more energy... running really fast for 1 second to disable Captain Cold completely by taking his gun... orrrrrr... getting hit by a cold blast, being frozen in place... having to vibrate your body so that the friction melts the ice, and then dodging dozens of cold blasts at a slower speed until finally disabling Captain Cold? You act like him running really fast is this huge liability/drain on resources... when the real liability and drain on resources is drawing out a fight longer than it needs to be. Most of his fights should be over in a second. Not several minutes. No enemy should even have the time to lift a gun to point it at anything... He could remove all weapons from a person before they even blink. He wouldn't be exhausted and need 100 cheeseburgers after, either.
@selalewow7 жыл бұрын
I love how I have only seen one person point out the biggest plot hole in the last season of Flash. Flash and Snart had to break into a facility that suppressed meta powers, like superspeed for example, to steal a power source to create a weapon to stop the villain before he could kill Iris at a specific point in the future. Why not just, oh, I don't know, put Iris in this facility until the fatal deadline passed?

Actually, if you take the multiple worlds interpretation and Murphy's law into account, the possibility of only a few specific events changing is completely possible. Time is like a tree, with each event creating a completely different timeline from the others. By saving his mom, Flash opened up every other possibility for all subsequent events. All other subsequent events were no longer bound to how they happened in the original timeline. The chances of any of the infinite times were 1/infinity. When Murphy's law was added in, everything that could have gone wrong went wrong, so we ended up with this timeline.

Not really given how the amazons were able to wage a global war to simply fight the atlanteans. I mean seriously nothing about the thought process makes sense. We see that the amazons brought all sorts of magical beasts with them to fight not only the atlanteans but also the humans but how? Their islands were flooded and they do not have advanced ships. They have wooden boats and yes flying eagles but these flying eagles couldn't transport minotaurs. How did enough amazons survive to still put up a decent struggle? Why did the atlanteans flood almost everything just to take out one island? It's an island. If they used boats to get off the island how did the atlanteans not just blow them out of the water
@Japaneseanimeguy7 жыл бұрын
Magic. Their boats can be reinforced with magic and the can simply call upon beasts that don't normally exist in their reality. Plus this particular magic the Amazons use is the Divine kind. - This channel has a rule: "Books don't matter". If the movie doesn't explain it, it's sinable. Comics are books, so they do not matter at all. - This is Satire. It's not supposed to be an accurate review of the movie. They're nitpicking on it on purpose. They will make some valid points throughout the video (they have made some mistakes here and there before, so that's nothing shocking), and they make some jokes. If you didn't enjoy it, okay. Not everyone will find this entertaining. But if this video still offends you personally, you probably shouldn't be on the internet in general. It's not healthy with a skin that thin. And to people getting honestly offended because he makes comparisons between DC and Marvel... I'm just hoping he makes such comparisons in every DC movie he covers in the future, and that you see all those videos.
@artemisfowl527 жыл бұрын
You've been around this channel a while. There is clearly an editorial opinion, and it is not friendly towards DC. To make myself perfectly clear, I really like this channel and they do great content, but there are points where they just take the lowest hanging fruit or are just petty and mean, usually to movies they consider bad. They don't treat Marvel movies with the same contempt they do for a lot of DC content, and for people who are fans of both DC and this channel, it definitely sucks.
@sofiafernandes97 жыл бұрын
artemisfowl52 I understand what you're saying, but I have to say, that really doesn't justify the reaction so many people are having. Cinemasins hated and made a lot of inaccurate sins on one of my favourite movies, and while I pointed out the inaccuracies, I wasn't mad or trying to insult them for it. It didn't sucked for me. They don't like one of my favourite movies? Okay, so what? It's still not the end of the world and they're not personally insulting me. Fans need to grow up. They're only bringing bad image for the fandom - and that's even worse when we think how fandoms in general are already portrayed.
@artemisfowl527 жыл бұрын
Lily Hannah Sure, people are rude and disrespectful, and the worst comments slagging these guys aren't warranted or fair. However I do think it's fair to say the team didn't give this movie a fair shot and just applied their bias and nothing else.

To Creeper - Someone flagged your comment. I tried to restore it but it didn't work. I'll post it: - "The Creeper - I have a rule: the comic was garbage and therefore the movie is also garbage." I think your rule is flawed. I've had books being shit, but the movie was great. And vice-versa. One does not dictate the other. If you read the comics and saw the movie, and thought both were garbage... well, you are free to your opinion.
@sofiafernandes97 жыл бұрын
Creeper - You missed my point. I'm not trying to discuss with you what is good or what is bad, or even change your mind about it. I see that as a waste of time, because in the end it's just a matter of opinion. You already listed two movies I liked, so yeah, it really doesn't matter. *Also, those are not called facts, it's called opinions.

@PongoXBongo7 жыл бұрын
You shouldn't need to read the book to understand the movie. That's one of their rules.
@anordinaryperson7097 жыл бұрын
..Perhaps because that's the point of CinemaSins? They have one simple rule, that they've repeated hundreds of times; "The books do not matter!" If a movie is forcing me to go and research topics that aren't explained, then it's failing the basic function of a movie. Take for an example, how everyone seems to love to correct that scene where our little channel says; "How do you know your powers haven't returned, at least run a little!" And everyone was so eager to type; "Duuuuh, Flash can heal super fast that's how he knew..." Problem is, they never said that. What if I had never even heard of The Flash before, and my friend was showing me this? I'd have a problem with it as well as it would seem like a major plot hole.
@ILiveAmongLions7 жыл бұрын
I agree, and I think this video is right to demonstrate that this movie falls into that problem. It's a huge issue with this movie. I think a lot of comicbook movies have that problem. However, with most movies that have a source material having an understanding of the main character's lore and rogue's gallery often benefits the watcher -and when you have 60+ years of source material if you come in ignorant of that it's your fault. The lack of that is what I was more commenting on.
@usmansultan54417 жыл бұрын
well cause if they had to explain everything about every character the movie would be way too fucking long. This movie is targeted at people who have at least somewhat knowledge about the DC EU
