In my experiences priests/pastors prefer to skip "books like Leviticus and most Priestly sources" too, else people start asking the difficult questions, which result in them uttering things like how adults should come as children to the lord (trusting and asking no questions of authority) and how you need to put on your (horse) blinders so that your focus is only on god and god only. Or you could go full Ham like my fundie pastor when I was a kid and go through Leviticus and Exodus with such conviction and bluster that nobody dared to ask why/how people deserved this from a god that supposedly had their best interests at heart.

@@halebopp4747 All of the tens of thousands of constructed religions, and their “laws”, have been fabricated by humans and then alleged to be backed up by one or more of thousands of mythological all powerful “gods” or “goddesses”. This methodology has historically been utilized to evoke fear and greed within the masses, and hence the great power and control of business men and Charleston’s of politics and religion . Fabricating all powerful punishing / rewarding “gods”, to back you up has always been a hugely successful homosapien strategy, giving tribe leaders, priests, kings, emperors, popes, bishops, dictators, politicians, preachers, missionaries, authors, apologists, prophets, apostles, the Vatican, churches, clergy, witch doctors, faith healers, etc, etc unprecedented control over and financial support from the masses. This has been a practice of homo sapiens since the beginning of recorded history. it seems like both now and throughout history, if for example a dictator wanna be, can convince a group of people: 1)That he alone is the exclusive agent of an all powerful temperamental demanding deity. 2)That hence only his words and writings are those of this god. 3)And that giving to and obeying only him, is ubiquitous with giving to and obeying this all powerful “deity/god”. 4)That the entire quality and quantity of their very lives, are entirely hanging on obedience to ALL of this agent of god’s requests and requirements...... If this method of religiosity based propaganda and dogma is used by any leader to indoctrinate and control their targeted victims, it evokes such all encompassing emotions on a spectrum from fear to greed within the victimized groups. And it subsequently keeps the regularly fleeced “flock” willingly structured within the leader’s confinement barriers. Then looking at the big picture historically, there have evolved thousands of branches of alleged gods and religions across the globe. When religious con- artists, prophets, writers, and religion promoters in general, take this scheme to the next level, the highest level. And they are able to furthermore convince the masses that this exact same obedience based reward/ punishment system applies not only here, but will also extend into their infinity based afterlives... with eternal pleasure VS eternal fiery torment being the end game. THAT strategy of ultimate eternal reward-threat issued, and greed-terror eliciting propaganda, has shown to be the most effective,at soliciting any degree of control and subservience of the masses, by human dictators that is desired. And the perpetrators underlie it all with edited and customized binded collections of many ancient arbitrary hand selected myth. Example of such contained in the Torah, Tanakh, Old Testament, New Testament, Holy Vedas, Quran, Book of Mormon, etc that were written by humans, and to this day twisted by humans into “supreme statements of gods as originally transmitted to agents of gods”.

There have been many thousands of gods in recorded human history, all of them invented by humans. Not surprisingly, these gods have tended to reflect the character traits of the people who invented them. For example when leaders of humans that were ignorant, rudimentary, cruel, and barbaric, invented OR selected a god(s), the god also tended to be ignorant, rudimentary, cruel, and barbaric. And in so doing, anything and everything, from mass blood ritualization of animals, torture, murder, mass genocide, mass looting, the taking of slaves including sex slaves, sacrificing first borns, sacrificing or murder of children as a test of loyalty, allowing the leader and priests to own everything and make all rules..... could be justified as the will of the god, as interpreted by the self ascribed "representatives" of that god. Yahweh, the chosen god of the bible, is just one of those thousands of invented gods, but without a doubt one of the most ignorant, sadistic, cruel, and barbaric among the recorded gods of mythology.

*Although the biblical narratives depict Yahweh as the sole creator god, lord of the universe, and god of the Israelites especially, initially he seems to have been Canaanite in origin and subordinate to the supreme god El.* Even the biblical Book of Deuteronomy stipulates that *“the Most High, El,* gave to the nations their inheritance” and that “Yahweh's portion is his people, Jacob and his allotted heritage” (32:8-9). A passage like this reflects the early beliefs of the Canaanites and Israelites in polytheism or, more accurately, henotheism (the belief in many gods with a focus on a single supreme deity). *The claim that Israel always only acknowledged one god is a later belief cast back on the early days of Israel's development in Canaan.* *It is generally accepted in the modern day, however, that Yahweh originated in southern Canaan as a lesser god in the Canaanite pantheon* and the Shasu, as nomads, most likely acquired their worship of him during their time in the Levant. *Yahweh in the Canaanite Pantheon* The biblical narrative, however, is not as straightforward as it may seem as it also includes reference to the Canaanite god El whose name is directly referenced in `Israel' (He Who Struggles with God or He Who Perseveres with God). *El was the chief deity of the Canaanite pantheon and the god who, according to the Bible, gave Yahweh authority over the Israelites:* When the *Most High [El]* gave to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of men, he fixed the bounds of the peoples according to the number of the Sons of God. For Yahweh's portion is his people, Jacob his allotted heritage. (Deuteronomy 32:8-9, Masoretic Text). The Canaanites, like all ancient civilizations, worshipped many gods but chief among them was the sky-god El. *In this passage from Deuteronomy, El gives each of the gods authority over a segment of the people of earth and Yahweh is assigned to the Israelites who, in time, will make him their supreme and only deity; but it is clear he existed beforehand as a lesser Canaanite god.* Yahweh, according to Amzallag, was transformed from one god among many to the supreme deity by the Israelites in the Iron Age (c.1200-930 BCE) when iron replaced bronze and the copper smelters, whose craft was seen as a kind of transformative magic, lost their unique status. *In this new age, the Israelites in Canaan sought to distance themselves from their neighbors in order to consolidate political and military strength and so elevated Yahweh above El as the supreme being and claimed him as their own.* His association with the forge, and with imagery of fire, smoke, and smiting, worked as well in describing a god of storms and war and so Yahweh's character changed from a deity of transformation to one of conquest. *As the Israelites developed their community in Canaan, they sought to distance themselves from their neighbors and, as noted, elevated Yahweh above the traditional Canaanite supreme deity El.* They did not, however, embrace monotheism at this time. The Israelites remained a henotheistic people through the time of the Judges, which predates the rise of the monarchy, and throughout the time of the Kingdom of Israel (c.1080-c. 722). Clearly all insects with six legs, not to mention other arthropods with eight or more legs, are clean.

Being a life-long atheist of Jewish descent I think that my lust for swineflesch and the bodies of crustacea is some form of genetic hunger. I have chewed the toasted grasshopper and called it good plus in Thailand, which is the place of the most wonderful food humans have devised, such flying insects are given the whimsical colloquial name of “sky prawns,” which makes the eating all the more fun.

Most insects have six legs. Are they ok?

The reason for "unclean" is that it doesn't eat cud and has divided hoofs? So... Humans are unclean as well... STOP TOUCHING YOURSELF THEN 😂👌

God must use that excuse -- humans are "unclean" -- to justify how many humans (adults and children, and animals, birds, fish, reptiles, etc.) he has murdered (Friendly Atheist made a video about that). Also since so far I haven't seen a clear definition of "unclean", it seems god needs no reason at all to rain terror and death on "his" creation. He's a narcissist ("worship me") + psychopath ("or I'll kill you and all your relatives. You are not allowed to hurt my feelings!")
