I don't think that "Max caring for people" is against his character. He always cares for people. He is just very hard to convince, especially when there's "real people" involved as in "guys that fuck you over", but these are kids who have no ulterior motives. Besides, Max has a soft spot for kids (see the feral kid from Road Warrior)
@immortannojoe95233 жыл бұрын
I never thought that. Good point 👍
@liamsanchezgoestovegas3 жыл бұрын
Agreed. The whole story is that these kids represent the future, and Max is leading them “Beyond Thunderdome” where they start their own civilization and by the closing scene “Every night we do the tell.”
@immortannojoe95233 жыл бұрын
Max actually has a really great character growth: *Mad Max* : Max told his wife that he wasn't really open about his feelings to his father and that now he can tell about his feelings towards her. But then the biker gang killed his family and now he's just a empty hollow shell looking for motivation. *The Road Warrior* : Max Rockatansky is just a lonely soul wondering in the Wasteland looking for a place where he can be in peace. No empathy, no emotions. *Beyond Thunderdome* : Max is starting to recover from the events of the first film. He's starting to also feel empathy and responsibility about his actions and decisions. He feels so responsible that he sacrifies himself to save a group of little children.
The reason there's two directors is because the one director's friend died on location scouting and could only handle the fighting scenes. He basically became super depressed and disinterested in the movie.

This was a great movie! The engines were off on the plane when it soared above Max (you could hear the turnover when they stole the truck)... The monkey threw more than his boots off the truck (and they weren't a matched pair)... The kids that he was Captain Walker because of the return story... The train tracks would still be there (a. it's a desert and b. hardly anyone was left alive to collect the steel and for what purpose)... There are so many more points to defend but this was a great movie, especially for its time...
@HuubHeesakkers3 жыл бұрын
And how would you explain that the plane perfectly flew above Max whilst in reality this would have been a nigh-on impossible maneuver? Besides, it was a desert which echos sound, with all his years of survival it's just highly implausible that Max would not have heard it in some capacity, since even glider planes are audible.
@truelanderdreams3 жыл бұрын
@@HuubHeesakkers It depends on wind direction, I've spent time in the desert (Iraq) and sounds don't travel the way you think they should. If you watch the seen, he is wrapped up in bedouin garb (blocking some sound) and it happens so quick we don't actually know if he did or did not hear the plane... If he did, where was he going to go? There's no reason they plane couldn't glide like that, that model plane is designed for low altitude plus crop dusters do it all the time...
@OnlyRoke9 жыл бұрын
Dunno why people don't like this movie as much. I thought it was a very cool and interesting story with some really memorable moments. The only things that annoyed me personally was the pilot-confusion (I'll just assume that Jedediah and Gyro were brothers and they just happened to both run into Max) and the fact that as soon as the kids enter the movie it has a very big shift. If you can get over the transition between Barter Town and the wild children scene (and their slang) then the movie suddenly gets very cool again. However, I was disappointed how they treated the henchman with the puppet helmet on his back like a Home Alone villain. Seriously he should have died at least four times but he constantly gets used as slapstick.
@HuubHeesakkers3 жыл бұрын

She was in her early twenties when she did this. She's quite dashing! (And Nix as a character is written without any "woke culture" pressure of making her always come off as a "talented & powerful" woman. So instead this character is authentic and memorable.)

turns 35 today! I definitely remember Tina turner the most in this one. it was a real comeback for her It's the most fun next to movie 2. The dome battle hearkens back to the gladiator days of old. Apparently George Miller suffered a personal tragedy that almost made him abandon the project, Bryon Kennedy his producing partner died in a helicopter crash in '83. Im glad it's still dedicated in his memory.

I don't think it was that bad, there's a lot of missing bits that when known make much more sense of it, why Bruce Spence was playing the same character who was not the same character was not one of them sadly.

Even when I saw the movie in '85, I liked the circularity of the trilogy's ending with Max returning the children to civilization. Mad Max started in the city, The Road Warrior goes far out into the wasteland, and Beyond Thunderdome basically ends in the city again.

I think everyone is missing the larger point of the film. Bartertown and the children's Oasis are as much part of the plot as the characters. Each represents opposite points on a continuum and ultimately it is the children that must leave to find a better life. Personally I thought this movie was fantastic.

*Jedediah the Pilot and the Gyro Captain are the same character.* There is nothing to indicate he doesn't recognize Max. Consider that he initially couldn't have known who was driving the camel caravan. Now consider that the Gyro Captain/Jedediah the Pilot knows Max as the tough justice type. Even if they were friends in the past, would GC/JTP rush to tell Max that he unintentionally screwed him over? At the end, Max knows he has a plane. How would he know this just from looking at him? The small child was the result of the GC/JTP's relationship with the woman character from the Road Warrior known only as "The Captain's Girl".

Actually one of the options on the wheel shown at sin 56 is acquittal, which would free you of everything so that is a good thing and one is just forfeit goods and it's not like you would have lots of great things in a world full of broken crap, and one of the choices is Gulag which for those of you who don't know is a horrible Russian prison work camp where if you go you will probably die a horrible death but I thought that was the underworld pig poop farm, that means that there is another possibly even worse prison work internment camp, wow.

I was seriously confused by Bruce Spence's roles in both films. Road Warrior ended saying that the pilot led a tribe. Beyond Thunderdome has him flying a new bird, but Max doesn't recognize him. Furthermore, the pilot's teeth in Beyond Thunderdome are white, like he is a new character? Why would you have a new character by the same actor who so closely mirrors the prior character? Even his son was a throw-back to the Feral Kid.
