My 08 Lexus LS460 also was purchased and spent 10 years in Minnesota... and no rust. When I bought it and had it gone through my a dealer and a local mechanic, I asked them to look for any rust anywhere... and they didn't find any! I bought mine (salvaged title) with 99k miles 4 years ago. It now has 148k miles and it's been a wonderful ride and very reliable. Not cheap to maintain, but it just works.

I have not watched the video, but i know these cars very well. Common problems..... 1. Control arms front and rear. The bushings wear out and the suspension knocks. 2. They burn oil 3. ABS brake actuator and or acumulator failure. Very pricey to fix and has to go to a dealer to bleed the brakes. 4. Air suspension struts will fail. This is common with most air suspension vehicles though. 5. Torque shutter from transmission. 6. Bad throttle bodies causing jerking sensation while driving. These are still good cars, but they can have some very expensive repairs. I have seen many well over 200k miles.

Although still leagues more reliable than an S-Class from the same era, buyers should go in expecting maintenance costs of a 100k car, not a 5k car. If I could afford the repair bills, I would snap one up in a heartbeat

This my first view of your channel. I think youse guys are impressive and I sense between the two of you probably have an encyclopedia of knowledge and know of what you speak PLUS you have the neatest thing ever that has me green with envy, that Garage Lift! After pricing various more capable home lifts, at $4,000 and up, I decided I'd never be doing anything that would justify the investment, and just bought a 3 ton low profile jack and stands, to occasionally lift up this 2 + ton automobile. Since I just paid $1,000 to a shop just for a coolant change, radiator hoses, serpent belt and 8 spark plugs (and I gave them my own parts, yet!) it won't take long before I recover the cost. Anyway I'm anticipating more on the Lexus LS from you, my 2017 LS is the car of a lifetime to me. And after owning maybe 12 or 13 other, lesser cars, I wish I hadn't waited so long to own one. Anybody who is on the fence about buying a used LS should at least test drive one. And then you'll know for yourself why these cars are so sought after.

So, you bought a car without doing a full inspection? Not something that I would done.

I'd definitely use some high mileage oil. It's worth a chance for sure. Plus, with that high of miles. I'd try going up the next weight in motor oil. Could slow down the oil consumption.
