BDS kits on 8 lug trucks float down the highway, I can ghost ride the Cummins and just let the wheel go on the highway and it keeps straight and rides nice. For that single cab I’d go with a 6 inch long arm kit.

Mr.Hammer was a wise gentleman it seems. He knew he'd built that truck a tad bit unsafe in way he lifted it,but if he passed it down to you two, you'd correct all that and make it the best it'd ever been.He passed it to who he knew would keep it close as able to still be "his" truck, yet improve and take great care of it too.An awesome way to compliment all involved. He told YOU TWO how much he thought of you to hand his ride to your hands.Hes smiling down on both of you.

honestly once the lift(s) are removed i'd personally get slightly higher than factory springs and update front end parts to the new late model truck parts so you'll never have to worry about death wobble and get less agressive tires probably upgrade the brakes as well. but defiantly more so to get a healthy driveshaft angle

Oil is very important with the 7.3 and 6.0 powerstrokes. They use the engine oil to fire the injectors. Bad, old, worn out oil can cause a plethora of injector problems. So maybe consider using an oil additive like the hotshots stiction eliminator.

If you can keep the same height get a better/safer lift kit. If you can’t find a 12” lift kit go with the biggest you can find. Replace the tires and check the brakes out and replace whatever’s necessary to make that truck safe and drivable. You don’t have to go all out because I think it’s best to keep the truck as close to Hammers original design as possible to keep his legacy alive.

Why Duramax? I met a guy who bought five 6.0 Powerstrokes to start his asphalt business. The business itself was doing great, but because those Powerstrokes were always breaking down he nearly went bankrupt. So he sold them at a loss and bought a used LB7 Duramax with over 200k miles, and never had an issue with it. He now runs Duramaxes exclusively.

Address the safety issues for sure. It’s definitely a beauty as it sits, but I think a 4” to 6” lift would be more practical. Mr. Hammer sounded like a hard working American farmer and a family guy. I think he would want this truck used and appreciated in memory of his legacy. It would be a lot easier to use more with a smaller lift.

Glad to see back! Glad to see you didn't take too long of a break. Love the shop and certain you will also. I would trade the Ford on a Duramax. I have a question not related to this video. I am ready to start to modify my Duramax but don't like that all of the pipes being made from 304 stainless. Especially when thinking of up and down pipes. Of all the stainless grades, it is the least tolerant to high temperature. 309 or 311 seem like a lot better choice. How does it hold up in the long long run, say 200,000 miles?

Call Trevor at PMF Suspension and order the rear traction blocks. Traction bars, lift block, and 5 degree indexing for driveshaft angle all in one unit. They are custom building mine for my 03 F250. Should be getting them in a few weeks.

It had a smoke switch and stage 3 injectors at one point in its life. Weather or not they were left with the 03 turbo and it had a sct tuner when it was built. But it did have different factory style steps on it not the chains and the 9-11-01 magnet was on the door vs the fender badge but when i saw it i thought it looked familiar. I'd say leave the flares and I would do the same lift just not the way it is currently done.

I’m a huge hater on fords but the powerstroke is officially my favorite truck on the channel. Can’t wait to see you redo the lift. I personally want to see it stay around 12”

Love your work & projects. My daily driver is an ´18 Silverado 1500 LTZ. My summer fun car is an ´08 Mustang GT. My next truck before an electric would be a Duramax or Powerstroke V8 depending on body designs of both at that time. I think making your Powerstroke safe for all to enjoy would be a 6” lift with a less aggressive tire tread on the same rims? Keep the fender flares and color match everything above the bumper to body color. Still a great eye catcher & your wife could enjoy some alone time with Dad’s truck & memories

After watching this, new 8- 12” total lift. New Nitto ridge grabblers or something like that same exact tire size it has now, keep the same rims. Get some nice running boards that flip down when you open the door and get rid of the chains maybe. Idk it’s kinda cool but a little ghetto lol. And maybe 2 piece driveshaft or something to help with the u joints for that thing. It’s gonna eat them I think

Hey do a 6.4 starter upgrade on that powerstroke. It helps drastically!

I didn't comment before but if you wanted to get rid of the flares, you could replace them with more low profile factory looking flares. Another option is just to paint match the flares on it. Help get rid of the 90s look. I dig it and would hate to change up too much out of respect for your wife as it was her dad's truck.

Definitely keep it at 12in high and get similar or same tires. Maybe color match the flares if anything
