Review from series ranking: "Steven gets upset that the gems can't hang out with him, then he gets even more upset when the gems ruin his game by breaking his TV. That is the third time this series that Steven's TV breaks, and, trust me, It will not be the last. It'll essentially become a running gag, from what I remember. Anyways, Steven wants a place to himself, and the entrance to his mother's room in the temple opens up. He abandons the gems to go into the room, which will form anything that he wants. But, for some reason, when Steven tells the room that he wants to leave, it instead forms the entirety of Beach City inside of the room where he realizes none of the formed objects are real. Why does the room do this when Steven clearly stated he wanted real food? I don't know. Ask the fictional room that Rose somehow gave consciousness and the ability to summon any object. D-did she just cry, in her room? Is that how it’s alive? I do like how the fake Beach City is treated like a laggy video game, with everything becoming lower quality to save on resources, movements and voice lines looping, and not even having a skybox. This episode is very unsettling, and the music really helps this feeling. Anyways, Steven realizes he's still inside his mother's room, the fake Beach City disappears, and Steven is taken back to the real world, and he ultimately learns nothing. This episode was interesting, but it couldn't pick between being funny and unsettling, and it constantly switches between those tones. This, overall, just leads to a pretty average episode, it's going right under Steven The Sword Fighter."

About steven being able to see the game - the game was predictable, it already happned even tho steven never saw it. But peridot - she is unpredictable. Anything could’ve came out of her mouth at that time but the video game was already set in stone to what it was going to display .

ok so i like to theorize that rose's room preserved roses consciousness, because the whale that asked "what do you want steven?" literally had her voice, and if we treat the room like a video game then rose couldve saved her data so to speak in a later episode called storm in the room, season 4 steven asks "i want to see my mom" which creates rose now, whats special about this is that the way rose acted was completely different from how the fake connie acted, connie was constantly asking what Steven wanted to do and never really gave her opinion on anything until steven said she can do what she wants too however rose only asked Steven what he wanted to do once and thats pretty much it, other than that she was having her own thoughts and opinions while holding actual conversations with steven and the thing that stands out to me the most is when she says "there's nothing wrong with your hair, its wonderful in every way, like you." this sticks with me because the amount of ernest sincerity in her voice and face while looking at steven just looks too genuine to be fake and not to mention she was upset when steven started mentioning her mistakes and afterwards when steven asked "did you make me so you didn't have to deal with all your mistakes?! is that all im here for?" she protested and asked him "in my tape i told you how much i loved you and wanted you to exist, do you think what i said in the tape was a lie?" why the hell would she care about mistakes she made if she wasnt the real rose and why would she bother asking a question that would really make steven think

3:15 I think its more like, if it never happened, it cant be repeated, the game DID happen, so it CAN be repeated, but peridot never finished her sentence, so the audio he's asking for literally doesn't exist.

I see it as more of the room just making up an ending based on Steven’s prediction for the ending of the game so it’s not actually the real ending and it’s just a fan made one in a sense since Steven never saw it the room used the memories on what Steven thought would happen but for peridot Steven would have no idea what she would say next and that meant the room couldn’t create a guess like with the Golf Quest ending

I feel like how the room knew the golf quests ending cause it was a real thing that is most likely known and on the internet, while with connie it was just a “good idea, what next?” So, with real people the room has a hard time copying that (obviously) but with things like the tiny whale, super bed, are all able to exist without a problem because they exist as one form, just altered/edited to stevens request

That episode legit gave me anxiety towards the end. Also the whale spoke in Rose's voice so I'm wondering if that was her communicating with him through the gem? Same with the episode when he asks to see her, I think a bit of it was here in a sense. Anyone made in that world were subject to freezing depending on how much the person remembers, some didn't move, repeated phrases, attack, etc but Rose was able to ask a question "What do you want Steven?" And even though he's never seen his mom, in that one episode she was forming full sentences, talking, moving, hugging, acting on her own in a sense.

well, they didn't choose to activate it at all. In the episode you're alluding to it activates by surprise because of message being sent to it that it couldn't display properly due to being old tech. That episode partially revolves around to trying to figure out what was up with it in addition to dealing with Greg's inadequacy issues.
