The worst thing for me, being a person with only a mild interest in this franchise, was the beginning when Bugs dodges all of their bullets in the street. Immediately set the tone that this was going to be a bad movie.

What was the point? Well, according to the Wachowski who made The Matrix Resurrections, the movie was made as an attempt to take back the term "red-pilled". Apparently, the Wachowski didn't like that those who disagreed with Democrats were saying that people who have been turning away from the Democratic Party have been red-pilled. Yes, this whole movie was made for political reasons. But that's Hollywood these days. They spend a lot of money to push their agendas. In this case, they wanted people to associate "red-pilled" with whatever agenda they were pushing in the movie.

What we loved about the first Matrix movie was its wonderfully imaginative idea. What we don't like about Resurrections is the lack of same.

I think the movie had very imaginative concepts. The start of the movie, with the mind bending "questioning what is real" presentation is fantastic, and the whole movie should've been like that. It goes downhill when they try to cram it into the generic action movie formula. I feel like this movie should have had almost no action scenes, and a happy ending similar to Total Recall, where you have to make your own mind about what is real and what is not. But, alas.

@@0skuro what made th matrix great was the action, the drama took second. Ressurection cut back on action thats why it wasnt well recieved
@0skuro2 жыл бұрын
@@mrsam0496 I have to disagree. The Matrix was great because of the balance of all its elements (action, mind bending setting, philosophical concepts, social critique, characters, drama), not just the action. The sequels, if you remember, amped up a couple of those elements (namely the action and the philosophical nonsense) and they felt weaker (bland characters, less intriguing setting, unclear motivations, uninteresting drama), in my opinion because they were unbalanced. Don't minsunderstand me, I would've loved to get awesome action in this latest movie, but, in retrospect, seeing how the action feels tacked on, I would've preferred they focused on the other aspects that did work. From what I've read, I'm not the only one who feels that the movie was intriguing at first, with the whole "was the entire matrix just in Thomas Anderson's head?" concept, and it kind of goes downhill when they rescue him and the "action" begins.

However when I heard that a 4th was being made I automatically knew it was gonna suck (mainly due to the fact of seeing a downward progression of the series with each new movie) and I was ABSOLUTELY right. My father and I rented it and made it a hour and a half into the movie before we both agreed this shit sucked. The fight scenes sucked, there was WAY too much exposition, the story was dogshit, and most importantly it was mind numbingly BORING!! Plus the fact that Morpheus AND Smith were both two totally new characters (both in story sense and actor choice [which I hated because neither captured the essence of the character(s) they were supposed to be portraying]) really made me instantly dislike it.

I never thought I would say it, but this movie makes Reloaded and Revolutions seem 100 times better in hindsight. At least those movies followed a consistent plot that isn't contradicting itself midstream. I does make me think Lana must have wanted to intentionally sabotage any potential for sequels by making this one just irrecoverably bad. Now, any sequel will have to do heavy lifting to erase that this movie ever existed, similar to what the Terminator franchise has to do ever 5 or 10 years.

I also quite enjoyed the original sequels, but I will give you they didn't quite hit the same high as the first film (though I feel they got pretty close). This film however was a major let down for a lot of fans, personally I'm kinda unfazed since I just assumed it was going to be bad going in. Was still bad though, I mean I only watched it like a month ago and I can barely remember any of it, hell I can't even remember all the scenes shown in this video. It's an incredibly forgettable film. Maybe that's the plan, it's the ultimate subversion of expectations; make the first film terrible and make the sequels amazing. Lmao

Can't blame Fishburne and Weaving for not being in this movie when it is such a blatant piece of crap I don't understand why they would undo the end of the trilogy when there is a perfectly good prequel world to develop. The story of the first One and the Oracle origin could be awesome. His tragic end and the tenuous detente upon his sacrifice are already written and there are so many ways you could fill in the rest. Make it about sacrificing for a world you don't belong in. Make it about the perils of giving too much power to one person, benevolent or not. Use the trope of finally finding "his" people only to have them be used against him. Make him a sympathetic incel who falls in love with an Oracle who does love him but just not that way because she's gay. Make him an antihero only to have the Oracle be the true hero in the end: the one who learns of her power to outwit the Architect in some heist film like fashion. It's so easy to come up with ideas for the world of the Matrix. It just amazes me that this was the garbage they came up with
