Its because its the big time of year for Santa to use his magic and fly and etc. All the elf's hard work is now being taken to the kids who believe and Santa is (and i think he is idk) the only one fast enough to get all the gifts in one night so even though they see him all year round its still a big deal on that night because of the time of year. ^_^ hope i helped out a bit. My family is Christian, but my mom decided not to sell us Santa as real. She told us saint Nicholas was a generous old man that inspired the whole legend, and it would be really mean to tell my friends that the legend wasn't real. I was too nice to ruin anyone's Christmas. Apparently my mom never got over the sense of betrayal finding out that Santa wasn't real, her family was the type to make fun of her for not believing, and then make fun of her for believing. @mallios134 жыл бұрын
Thanksgiving is a uniquely American holiday conceived of by Abe Lincoln during the Civil War to boost morale among Americans who had an identity crisis while having to kill relatives and countrymen. It, however, was predicated on the romanticisation of encroachment and conquest of non-white peoples. It's long suffered controversy because there's not much about the holiday that people feel strongly about, allowing it to become nothing more than a day of turkey and football as a sort-of pre-Christmas feast. Since the holiday's theme is hinged on being thankful and family gathering, that's not applicable to most people who struggle on a daily basis and have horrible families, making it irrelevant and not identifiable for most folks. Christmas is a western holiday conceived of by ancient Christians upon converting the Roman Empire and conquering the Germanic and Scandinavian peoples, thus appropriating Saturnalia and Jul (Yule) to reinforce Christian dominion. Ironically, Christmas taking from large pagan feasting holidays caused Christians to despise Christmas for ages and reduced it to a minor holiday until the 1800s, where between Charles Dickens and Clement Moore, the holiday was revitalized with a more distinctive Yule motif, giving rise to messages of universal goodwill and togetherness, as well as the rise of Father Christmas/Santa Claus by applying Saint Nicholas' name to the image of the Julfadr (Yule Father), a title worn by Odin in pre-Christian Germania and Scandinavia. So Thanksgiving is a uniquely American holiday that reminds everyone that the country was built on whites dominating other peoples. While Christmas exists from Christianity dominating everyone, including white people, and you don't have to be reminded of that because the holiday literally sugar coats the whole suffering of Christ with a fat guy who horks down cookies and milk. I guess American Thanksgiving just lacks that extra padding between harsh reality and saccharine fantasy.

I was already an adult when this movie came out, but one memory I have is during one christmas, we had family over and they decided to watch The Polar Express. The TV had/has a pretty nice sound system, and nobody realized just HOW nice and loud it would get. Well, when the Polar Express rolled up to the house the first time, it literally shook our house and felt and sounded like the train was in our house! It kind of scared the crap out of everyone, but it was kind of magical, and kind of excessive...so we cranked that sound way down, LOL. It’s like Harry Potter for the first 4 books: Not giving them much personality means that the audience can take the place of our main character.
