Later in the movie we realise that Carly’s car is a decepticon. And during the scene when she rips of the bunny legs (8:05) we see that Sideswipe and Dino are parked behind them. How did they not recognise the car as a decepticon? They were able to recognise other decepticon in their car/vehicle modes before? But then again, it is a Michael Bay film

They do explain where the deceptions keep coming from. They were all scattered throughout the universe. Optimus sent out a message at the end of the first movie (his ending narration) about earth being a safe place. He’s specifically blamed for that in this movie. Also, Optimus says he let them destroy Chicago to make a point about how the decepticons would never just leave the humans alone. Savage and it actually worked against him considering what happens in the next movie.

Ever notice that Optimus and the Autobots always shoot to kill, when actually trying to hit? They never attempt to take prisoners, unless the humans are telling them too. The decepticons however take captives frequently and seem to avoid causalties when not attempting (poorly) at psychological intimidation. It’s almost like the Autobots are actual violent delusional revolutionaries and the decepticons aren’t.

man, these movies are so shit. They don't even come close to understanding the orignal plot of transformers. To make a long story short. The decepticons weren't the bad guys. They were bad in a reletive perspective. Basicaly cybertron was running out of energy, so the decepticons wanted to started using energy from other planets, but the autobots considered it stealing. ETC ETC. but in the end the plot is basicaly the decepticons trying to save their dying people, while giving no fucks about aliens(humans) and the autobots saying "we don't want our people to die, but we would rather they die than start taking resources from other worlds."

Sadly, the Bayverse movies are one of the worst installments in the Transformers franchise. Most of the CGI for the Transformer characters are really well done, but the plot is terrible. It leaves so many answers for the majority of the audience that has never seen other Transformers stuff. Not to mention, he seems to deem everything in his movie worthwhile if it's cool, hence Bumblebee being a Camaro. Also, Optimus Prime didn't kill Megatron before because he didn't want to. Optimus believes that "freedom is the right of all sentient beings". For stellarcycles (years), Optimus Prime was hoping his closest friend, his brother, would change his ways. So when the third movie came along, at this point Optimus Prime is just tired of Megatron's shit and destroys him realizing that there isn't any way his brother is coming back. But you can't tell that through the movies because Michael Bay doesn't ever freaking tell you.

That would make sense. If not for the fact that in the grand scheme of things the giant robot battles have only gotten stale and repetitive or even take a back seat. They have felt the same since the first movie and with the exception of the latest movie, only because it was a different view on the romance, romance and lovers quarrels dominate the majority of the movies with the transformers themselves taking a back seat. seriously when the 86 movie was better, when their standards for movies was significantly less, there's something to be said about it.
