One cool feature I use on my HX Effects is a half step shift up or down - helpful when someone wants to play tuned down. I always have the line 6 compressor on.

One of the reasons why I went for the HX Stomp that it would give me the chance to experiment with the different categories of Amp/Cab sims and effects. And all in one little device that I could easily carry around with me, without having to worry about connecting them or mounting them on a single pedalboard.

Ian should definitely be on commission with line 6, just been inspired to buy an hx stomp after hearing his passion for the product. Love Ian's content within SBL also. Keep up the great work.

I also got the HX Stomp because I saw Ian use one. I also mix multi and single pedals, too. I just got a Cali76 compressors and their (Origin Effects) SVT amp sim pedal. Mixing pedals with the HX clears up room on the HX for more effects since I will also use the Cali and the SVT amp simulator.

I’m so glad Ian spoke on amp sims, I always thought it was just me not knowing the point on using them, especially live, especially if I have the bass rig I want and enjoy, thanks guy as always! Reverb and delay is my thing too! Thanks once again Ian! You are so great on these casts!! Your such a asset to SBL!!❤

Scott, if you want to get into ambient sounds and multi fx, but still want something you can tweak, get the Mooer Ocean Machine. It has 2 delays and a reverb, all have 4 knobs each on the front panel to use like you would with 3 individual pedals. It can do some really weird sounds too plus it has a looper with reverse and half speed. I'm a multi fx guy but even I don't use presets for it because its so tweakable and inspiring!

18:37 Well said. Corey Duplechin (Tab Benoit) is a great showman, but also very hands-on and successful in using his technique,and instrument to speak in and "outside of the effects box" type of manner. He has a great way of connecting the song to his musicianship, and directly to the audience.

Awesome podcast, guys! Would love to see a follow up where you guys put together some boards for each other and see what kind of sounds/playing comes from it. Thanks for all the great content!

I love listening to you guys just chat about this stuff. Its entertaining but also full of wisdom! I don't know or use much when it comes to Pedals/effects. All I have is an old Line 6 Bass Pod XT Live. haha. You've inspired me to start poking around with different sounds and proper application. Its so good, thanks.

This podcast is the greatest thing since sliced bread! I'm a bit older and miss having cool people to talk music & gear with. You guys make me feel like I'm not alone 🙂🤘

I would love to do a show with you guys on bass effects. I use stand alone pedals and can demonstrate a basic mini board to give the community a flavour and intro.

Ian, do you use velcro to attach your pedals or something else?

Picked up the CS2 Boss pedal, first pedal in over 30 years of playing besides DI, on recommendation from Juan from Pedals and Effects and Marz Volta. Super stoked. Would be cool to see a video of the three of you talking about effects. Or podcast. Great one guys, thanks, cheers!

A good intro to multi effects would be pedals like a multi modulation pedal. It has some different sounds in it but it's still just modulation and all the knobs are on the front panel for you to tweek. It might not even have presets. That will get you used to that kind of thing before you go all out on something that can do everything

What about the Line 6 bass Pod??
@robertpace49132 жыл бұрын
Almost exact same thing with my church engineers. They want as clean and crisp a sound as possible. Today I only play J or P/J basses for clarity of tone (EMG X Series PU), P only and DC soapbars are to dark/phat in tone for the large room. Effects are never boosting gain or bass, maybe a touch of mid for mix cut. In my ears it sounds crazy bright, but the house mix is perfect.

Ian is a fucking magician with his HX Stomp and effects in general! I wish he did an HX Stomp course or made his presets available I would so buy them for my HX Stomp

This will be no. 10 comment, again, love the interaction, one of the best parts of SBL, pedal boards for bass players? Sounds like a lot of frustrated lead guitars players, taking up the bass, lol. For me, an octaver to fatten up when doing 3 piece and a chorus to emulate fretless and a limiter to cover up my bad technique, lol.
