Good video. FYI, there is a desktop application for both Mac and PC that you can download and view the videos on the SD card. It even shows a real-time map based on the GPS data. It's much easier than the way you were doing it in the video. Check it out when you get a chance.

Thanks for sharing real life usecase and showing it as a user. I have seen other videos which were not so useful …

Thinkware dashcams use the exact same barrel plug for power as FineVu.

Could you tell me what cable (2.5mm TRRS?) you used to connect the two cameras? I plan on doing this, but using the homelink mirror adapter, so I wouldn't have a good spot to tuck the giant cable.

That’s correct, it’s a TRRS 2.5 mm. Angled on one end, straight on the other, though I would probably find one that’s angled on both ends if I was to buy a different cable

@@FlywheelFilms Thank you for the info. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any small 2.5mm to 2.5mm cables. I will just try to splice the given one and see how that goes.

How do you suppose it would hold up to the Texas summer heat? Will come unglued from the windshield or turn off when it's super hot?

Been wondering about options for rear view cams on NCs. Happy with Viofo on my old daily so might go with the new A229 and try hide it on the passenger roll bar hoop cover thing

I really like my Garmin Mini 2. It’s not all that fancy but I like how small it is and how easy it is to conceal.

Lol, that is literally the opposite of proprietary, it's a standard dc barrel connector. You can use any DC power supply that will plug into that and it will just work because they are sized by voltage/amperage. It's probably one of the best examples of a well executed standard out there.

Most likely Fine went with AVI so that they could use a lower power processor in the camera, which would mean a cheaper camera and lower power consumption, since it doesn't need to devote processor power to compressing the footage. Really, the big surprise here is that Apple doesn't support AVI out of the box. That means that they specifically chose not to support an uncompressed video format that has been around for decades, and intentionally limit usability for their end users.

Handbrake is a great program for video conversion.
