High cholesterol is not necessary dangerous, cholesterol in food is not related to the body’s cholesterol levels. A lot of people actually reduce their cholesterol on keto despite eating more saturated fats. The SLDL and triglycerides is dangerous and is mainly caused by refined carbs

My deal ! I've battled weight since I was 5 , I'm 53 now. In 2005 I came home from work and two half gallons of juice in the matter of seconds ( I'm not exaggerating) I found out I was pre diabetic. Well I didn't take it seriously , went to Lancaster, Pa and gorged myself with everything to eat. This was a chain reaction of my future hell! I couldn't get enough to drink , my kidneys was hurting., my vision was extremely blurry with contrast, I found out I had a kidney stone. Doctors refused to treat me , thinking it was a back injury . They checked my blood sugar and it was 503 . I had neuropathy in my feet which was incredibly painful. I ended up seeing a endocrinologist and he immediately put me on metformin, actos and lantus. I couldn't get my sugar under 250 so the answer bariatic surgery or die. I went to several more doctors as time went on , all the same story except adding more insulin's and pills, with the same exact bariatric recommendation. I was on a list of medicines that looked like a shopping list for 100 people. My father died from complications of diabetes so that also added to mental problems with depression, so more meds more hunger more insulin, foot pain , I could only manage in a scooter. I then sat down and started a plan, low carb only counting total carbs and walking on a treadmill starting at 5 min . In 2.5 years I lost 40 pounds. This was totally unacceptable to me. I started researching keto back as far as the early 1900's. They treated patients with epilepsy. It was very effective from the studies. They also discussed glucose response with carbohydrates. All carbs are not equal. Fiber and sugar alcohols have almost zero effect on insulin response. This is where olestra became popular. You had to eat them in the bathroom because you were stuck there for hours after eating olestra chips. I then started keto according to books and most success dictated net carbs so I went in that direction and lost a total of 185 pounds. No scooter , hiking in the mountains , perfect blood work , I went for an A1C of 12.6 to now I'm at 5.6 , I'm only on metformin now but Rome wasn't built in a day. I'm now on a mission to inspire others to do the same . Anyway thanks for your time ! I'm not selling anything and no affiliations to click. Maybe just to inspire people to get moving !

For the newbies ! No fruit, unless it’s berries in moderation No wheat No sugar No grains No pasta No potatoes No rice No beans No starches No milk as it’s loaded with sugar. ( unsweetened almond milk is recommended.) Meat, cheese, eggs, vegetable, nuts, and healthy fats. It’s simple. Stick to that, and you should be ok! Vegetables that should be avoided are : Sweet potatoes Corn Peas Potatoes Carrots - can be used in moderation, just don’t go over board. They are full of starches and not recommended. Make sure to drink half your body weight In oz of water as well if you aren’t getting the adequate amount of water it can be bad for your kidneys! This applies for all forms of keto. Do not forget your electrolytes, they are needed daily. A good form of electrolytes is: Powerade zero Pickle juice Pink Himalayan salt added to your food Strict keto - counts all macros, does not eat processed foods. Lazy keto - doesn’t track all macros, still eats processed foods, as long as they are on plan Macros are a break down of the calories you intake for the day. Which should be : 5% carbs 20% protein 75% fat Carbs are a limit - try not to go over your carb limit. Fat is a lever - you don’t have to meet your fat macro, it’s simply there to help you get full. Protein is a goal- try your best to reach your protein goal, but try not to go over. Excessive amounts of protein can cause you to stall in weight loss. Anything other than this food group selection would be considered low carb. Also, if you are in ketosis, and eat outside of this food group not only could it take you out of ketosis, but it could spike your blood sugar! Which can make you sick. Hope this helps. 😊 A Keto Helper: The FREE 28 Day Meal Plan With Recipes,Macros & Shopping List www.guideforketodiet.com/2018/11/a-keto-helper-free-28-day-meal-plan.html

I considered the keto diet. I settled for the low carb diet. I'm down from 270 to 190 in 7 months. No working out ( no time because work). First 3 months I did no carb with the exception of one cheat day a week. The next 4 months between 100 to 150 carbs a day but the key for me was, NEVER EAT AFTER 6PM, yes people dinner is the killer.

I am a huge fan of the *HyperKeto program* .. I've been on it for about two months now and I can see great results. I'm not saying this just to earn a commission - I truly believe the content is high quality and the diet has been well adapted to my lifestyle. I can't do without it now! I've been on a diet for about two weeks and I can see the difference. It's not that I eat less, but that the food I eat is tailored to my needs. The program is designed in such a way that it helps me plan what to eat without sounding like something is out of reach. It also helped me keep track of my meals.

I've found (personally) that in the longterm, cyclical keto works best for me in terms of keeping my hormones balanced, my adrenal glands strong, and overall energy levels. I like to rotate in and out of keto. But, to get my body used to it, I went 100% strict keto (under 20g carbs) for a good 8 months then began the cyclical keto process with healthy refeeds, such as sweet potatoes. This cured my hormonal cystic acne, which I tried to cure for 7+ years, when no other eating style would, including raw vegan, etc.

While I appreciate Dr. Oz coming around to the ketogenic diet, about 6 years ago he had a science journalist by the name of Gary Taubes on his show, who was someone who advocated for just such a diet. Instead of demonstrating the same open minded demeanor that he is showing now, Dr. Oz practically insinuated that Mr. Taubes was engaging in some sort of malfeasance, essentially implying that Taubes' advice would give everyone a heart attack. This was despite the fact that this Taubes - an award winning Harvard, Stanford, and Columbia educated science writer - had mountains of evidence to back up his claims. I have a sneaking suspicion that Dr. Oz does not care about the science. He only cares about riding the coattails of what is popular at the moment - whether it is low carb, ketogenic, paleo, or vegan. If he had any intellectual integrity, he would apologize to Gary Taubes for how poorly he treated him on his show.

I have a herniated disc, nerve pain chronic pain in my cervical spine for 9 years, had fusion surgery which caused severe nerve damage & more pain which was the biggest mistake I've ever made so I'm so glad your pain is gone-what a blessing!! Maybe eliminating sugar & carbs helped reduce inflammation which causes more pain but please don't have surgery, get second opinions. The surgeons won't tell you that having surgery could make your condition worse so I'll pray for you that you stay pain free Amen!

That’s the thing with keto you can’t lose weight in a short period of time ... keto is like dr oz said a shift in the way you eat. It took me 5 months to lose 25 pounds and I didn’t have to starve myself with some stupid “diet”

This works great 👍 I lost 60 pounds in 4 months with no effort but cooking 🍳. I spent 40 years eating sugar and carbs it feels great to leave them behind . My wife is a type 1 diabetic on keto and she now only needs one small dose of insulin once a day instead of multiple normal injections.

zoya khan Hi zoya I don't really have a meal plan, and I'm not sure of how much of what I eat you can eat? What foods do you like to eat? What foods are you restricted from eating? I may be able to help you come up with ideas for meals and how to prepare them. I recommend animal fats because most vegetable fats are highly processed and not healthy. Feel free to ask any questions you may have and I will try my best to answer them honestly. 😊

Nevaeh Jackson It's was keto and intermittent fasting! They go hand in hand together. I did lazy keto only counting carbs not calories. Once I was in ketosis I lost my hunger, not my appetite. Found out being hungry is mostly for carbs. Thanks

@@perez1corona sorry for a late reply I did not get notified. You do not need to do IF. You can do keto and keto will work. Or you can do IF and not worry about keto. Both lifestyle changes will benefit you. I do IF with keto to put me in a deeper state of ketosis which burned more fat. I continue to do both because I still have some stubborn body fat to lose. Once I reach my goals I will continue this lifestyle because it is the healthiest for Me.

Mark Sissons new approach means you dont need to be Keto all the time. Look up his JRE podcast about metabolic flexibility. My parents unknowingly had me doing this when I was young. I can eat virtually anything and not get fat. Pizza. Carbs. Not so much takeaways and processed foods but I love to eat.

You can still hit a plateau - even on keto. The only sure-fire way to avoid it is water fasting (complete ketosis). Always remember to take at least 3 teaspoons of salt in Warm Water (ground up pink Himalayan Sea Salt is preferred) throughout EACH day while you fast - for however long you fast. Because if you don’t - you’ll be WEAK, tired and incredibly irritable 😠 And be CAREFUL when you re-introduce food to your tummy - because it’s LITERALLY quite possible to gain 10 pounds of weight back within a DAY. When you eat again, start with small portions of scrambled eggs & avocado...and maybe a few walnuts.

@Harry Heart Killer : It’s the purest, unrefined. Water fasters will rave about its benefits. Search Google. Buy quality - The cheaper varieties are not the same (Try Whole Foods, other natural grocers). Salt consumption during water fasting is Essential. Best 🙂

@craigm8461
@craigm8461 6 жыл бұрын
@@thegamer.__.086 When you are in ketosis, you get diuresis (excessive urination) and that draws massive amounts of salt from the body that needs replacing and as Pretty prudent explains, it is essential. Check Thomas Delauer's KZbin channel for in depth scientific explanations on keto, or Dr Berg. Hope this helps.
