This is fascinating. The knowledge needed for such intricate engineering is amazing. Big props. 👏👍

Thanks for the informative video. I find it interesting that the SST gearbox has been out for so long and we keep finding more and more information about it. However, there isn't anymore upgrades for it. For example, I know the 2-4 shiftfork is common to break. I couldn't help but notice there being 4 shiftforks magnets in total during the teardown. Is there a reason why billet versions of those other 3 shiftforks were never made? In regards to the torque damper, the weaker springs and the plastic spacers....shouldn't those be upgraded to titanium springs and billet spacers?

Hope you bought a new torque dampener which is only available with a new clutch assembly. And the solid magnets go loose as well. And the hot spots are from not teaching in usually.

Isn't the EVO X's auto gearbox a Getrag Dual Clutch? The Evo X's 4B11 was designed by Hyundai wasn't it? Here in the USA the X Auto's would overheat on the track, so I would assume a good external Oil Cooler would be very beneficial here.

The gearbox is a Getrag DCT 470, the 470 denoting the max torque figure it can handle. Getrag is a German company now taken over by Magna Powertrain. The engine is a derivative of the "world engine" which is part of the Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance. The engines are similar to those in the Hyundai but they are not the same. Similar design engines are found on other cars but the 4B11T is unique to the Evo X with different Mahle pistons, strengthened components etc.

@@bEEBO178 yep knew this Ive owned Evo's more is known about them now than when they came out. Not a fan of the 4B11T after owning an Evo X GSR and regretted trading my 9 MR for one. Much better platform for me and overall the 8 and 9 just seemed better built overall. My X felt like a kid put it together with all the rattles and creaks from the day i drove it off the showroom floor. Good cars though overall just will always prefer an 8 or 9 preferably a 9 over a X. These cars are of yesteryear for me though as I would never buy one used after the horrors I've seen people do to these poor cars😭

Hello after changing the shift fork magnet (using a jig) and upgrading clutches with a rebuilt damper and new internal filter I’m getting this code P1879 Mitsubishi Code - Gear Block 4th I have tried to do a re-teach and got abnormal end on the shift fork magnet Any ideas how to solve this? Thank you

Hello, were you able to fix the issue? if so, how? I put my tranny back together and I am getting a few codes, dealer couldnt do teach in, and even If I put reverse or drive on the shifter, the tranny seems to be stuck in park/neutral. I would really appreciate your advise, thanks man.

@@KeevJosuehello, yes after trying everything and even thinking the mechatronic was bad, I sent that part to Kozmic only to find out the TCU had broken or bent pins. They upgraded the mechatronic spring pistons and installed a new TCU. Check your connection, I hope that helps.
