What's worse is that whenever they do this, they don't touch the TSW1 version of the train despite putting the effort in to remaster it. So you have the same train, that drives very differently depending on the route!

I can't believe I was actually considering grabbing this DLC before watching this video. Like everyone else, I should be more than aware by now that DTG NEVER finish anything before releasing it. Then there's the BS excuses from DTG which just keep on coming. They continue to offer us huge buckets of vomit, and we're just too happy to keep gulping big spoonfuls of it. Well enough is enough. I might pick it up when it goes on sale for a FAR more reasonable price. But for now, i'll pass. Thanks for putting this video together, Sim UK. Like you can use 146+Doppelstockwagen from Main-Spessart Bahn on Schnellfahrstrecke Köln-Aachen but the Schnellfahrstrecke works without the Main-Spessart Bahn DLC.

To be honest, when i think of a DLC, the first thing that comes in my mind is that i get new things in that game, for a certain amount of money and make me play more that specific game.. But this DLC only brings new some..... British Railway liveries, really? At least if they gave us a new map for the same price would be better than spending a lot of money (before buying this "DLC) and then getting this thing that gives me just some BR Liveries which imo i could easily reproduce in the livery editor (idk if it is possible for all the locos). About that "DTG is being greedy", i totally agree, every time i buy a new DLC (i only got 2, bought them when they were on sale) i feel like i am buying Grand Theft Auto 5 at it's original price. To be perfectly honest, all of the prices for TSW are steep. 25 pounds for a route is a little too much for me to buy them not on sale and 12 pounds for a locomotive is also too much. This new pack takes it a bit too far though 15 pounds for 2 trains we've seen before and one that's been reworked is too much. If anything this should have been a free update.

Hopefully they extend the Canadian route in both directions to go to Calgary in the one direction and then Vancouver in the other direction. Also , the Great Western Mainline is a bit too short. They should extend it at least up until Oxford, they should extend it further than Oxford actually. That will give longer service times and multiple scenarios for both routes. Hopefully they add passenger trains into the Canadian route while they extend it further and more freight locomotives with properly recorded sounds.

I also joined the livestream at some point and replied to an other user that I won´t buy the Dlc too. And immediately after I got the reply from the guy in the lower camera: "That your not interested is great. Thats absolutely fine. But what we are trying to do is give you as much information as you need to be able to make that decision. The one thing we dont want to do is to make it sound like it´s something that it isn´t. And therefore we´re gonna show exactly what it is." It was around 01:06:05 in the original livestream. i found it to be not a very diplomatic answer. It sounded very ironic and made the impression that they dont care about me even a bit although I spent a hell lot of money on their simulators... So thank you for this Video. I hope it gets the recognition it deserves and maybe even has a effect on DTG and as well on the community so that the people dont fall for such dirty tricks anymore and dont support it with their har earned money.

There is a number of DLC that I don't have - that contains new content - routes, engines that I don't have. The only ways I might consider this purchase is: I have everything else that I want, I absolutely have to get more scenarios and timetables because I was in love with the route or the price is extremely attractive, being on sale. At release it was none of the above for me.

I did some quick maths at present to buy all in current sale comes to £56.20 (68.69 to include the basic game). would i buy at this price...yeah i would, i wouldnt buy it at full price that is for sure. here's basically what they did, they got the WSR class 52 repainted it BR blue added a few tiny tweaks to it got the 101 from tees valley line and just put the L number on the front and changed the destination boards and got the class 08 from tees valley line in other words copy and paste bullshit just on an older route, ohhh and dont get me started on multiplayer, that thing that was promised and has never come out for three goddamn years, and if that wasnt bad enough most of the routes on train simulator have gone up like 20 percent in price corris railway used to be 2.99 now its 9.99 london overground was 11.99 now its 17.99 like wtf

DTG already took this step by delaying the scenario editor for years, which now is on purpose as limited as hell so they can sell more and more. I have been playing since CSX:HH beta and I can say this is the most unusual DLC they have released thus far. A DLC which requires ownership of 4 others (I'm not including GWE in that count because you obviously need GWE as it's in the pack's title) to receive the full benefit of is quite outrageous (especially at its price point) DTG have already said this is an experiment which they may not repeat again if this pack is unsuccessful...which looks more than likely based on all the feedback so far. It's a shame because in concept there is nothing wrong with doing something like this but I think they dropped the ball. You know you have screwed up when even one of the devs is mystified by it on an official stream.

I like Train Sim World but you're right about every point in this video. This is a DLC maze. I think DTGs problem is not having a well-thought-through DLC system. Route DLCs add new locos, but when creating a DLC, which should have the same loco, they run into problems. This is the only way I can imagine, why they are doing this. But of course, the price. Personnally I'd say that the price of that DLC would've been justified ONLY if they completely revamped the route to make it look and feel like the 70's. But there it's just old existing trains slapped on a modern route. I would prefer way more buying West Somerset Railway to get a new route, then do the train slapping by myself with scenario planner. Or even not buy WSR and slap only NTP trains on it. The only reason for me to buy this DLC is if it gets on a crazy sale ione day and if I'm even interested enough on that. Usually I don't do too much criticism but that DLC is just "give us money", where the other have some value to them.

1:35 - Those requirements are for the additional layers. If you don't have Tees Valley, NTP or the Heavy Freight Pack then everything that they said will work will still work, you just won't get the additional layers. That's okay isn't it??

I don't play computer games or simulations, but the thought of driving a WESTERN down the GWR mainline could have been the tipping point, however there are a few fedelity issues with this simulation thay stop me, which are as follows.... At the time the WESTERN's were in service class 101 Metro Camell DMU's did not work out of Paddington, it was a staple diet of class 117's. Nor was there OHLE and they've used the new RG station If I was going to buy a computer simulation involving a WESTERN, then I'd want it to be back in the 70's when the WESTERN's ran into the old RG. Also in all the years I have been to Paddington (1970-present day) I have never seen a class 08 in the station. I found your review from a none gamer POV interesting and although I am franky amazed that this only costs £15, the additional packs required (plus the fedielity issues) to get this up and running have put me off making that jump into the world of playing computer simulations.

The response when the pack was announced with the trains on the forums was not positive. The 101 that's in this pack hardly ran on this route in the 70s. They are rare. The 117s were more common but they didn't make the 117 because the people who make trains were busy making other trains. Well than if that was gonna be the case then maybe they should've announced the pack when there was a slot open to add the correct train instead of adding a train that hardly ran the route in reality. Not to mention that they were in full BR Blue and not the Blue/Grey. Also the environment doesn't look like the 70s whatsoever. The idea is great but is poorly executed. It is clearly a cash grab and I certainly didn't buy it and never will. Most people wanted gwe to be extended, electrified so we could have the 800s, 387s and TFL Rail and the branch lines but they make something that hardly anyone wanted. I recommend if a casual player wants a BR Blue Experience, buy Northern Trans Pennine. The environment on that route looks like the 80s and it's a fun route to drive on. Don't buy this cash grab

@@SimUKReviews The only dlcs I've bought for tsw2 were Munchen-Ausburg which came out in October I believe. Feel free to quote me if I'm wrong and Southeastern High Speed. Munchen-Ausburg had really bad framerate issues for the Base Ps4 and Xbox One with the layers on in the Muchen Area (other german trains that don't come to the base route) It was so bad that they had to get rid of them on consoles only because some reported crashing due to the poor framerate. Was unbelievable. It was so poorly optimized. I don't plan on buying anymore dlcs for now because the current announced routes don't intrest me personally but when tsw3 or whatever the hell it's gonna be called comes out, hopefully they will change their business practices. Yes they are a business but the quality and attitude they seem to have to their customers is just not always great

A genuine person! Honestly there are MANY like you and it is only because DTG have zero competition that people feel the need to defend it so religiously. Firstly, your annotations are wrong, the 31 is DLC for Tees Valley, so you need TVL for £25 *and* the loco DLC for the class 31 for another £12. Secondly, if this was £7 I would have bought it on day one, but then I'd have been disappointed because looking at the tech forums its buggy as hell (including the 31 being awful). A big shame because as you say there is a very good idea here and it is marred by appalling execution and lack of thought behind it.Damning that the PR or community team are not even able to understand the rationale behind it or who it is aimed at. A big miss sadly.

Sorry, the message you seem to be sending here is "Sam, don't be honest on streams as it will be used against you later", and "DTG don't pay Sam to be honest on streams...". They could have not bothered with layers. Already bought the Heavy Freight Pack or Tees Valley Line? - Who cares, this is a completely different release and unrelated. Instead, you get some basic stuff if you own Paddington (GWE), TSW2 and buy this. And some more stuff (the layers) if you buy or already own the other DLC talked about here.

But if you want to have all possible services you need TVL, NTP, Br Heavy freight pack and class 31. I can use the Br 146 from Main-Spessart Bahn on Schnellfahrstrecke Köln-Aachen but Schnellfahrstrecke works without Main-Spessart Bahn.

Why do DTG's not work on improvements to current game before releasing more broken, and in the case pointless DLC! I have followed them since the original Rail Simulator and they moved on to Railworks and so on. At the beginning Paul J was very much involved but I think as time has gone on and the money rolling in, they have got so greedy its no longer about the passion Paul has or had for trains and this project but more about what they can use to con the next buck out of us all. I was excited when they announced TSW 2 albeit a little annoyed they didn't just improve TSW. They made so many promises about TSW 2 and so far I have seen none of those come to light, just more and more addon releases and less and less improvements. I actually stopped playing the game a few months ago and only returned to it this week, still no improvements. As far as their videos on youtube go, They should just stop! simply its all about selling and not improving. I work in politics and even I am trying to stop my head spinning with the crap they come out with. DTG stop money grabbing and bring some passion back to what could be a great project!!

I think when you compare Dovetail to London Transport I can see why competition exists, business people get complacent and greedy when they know they have a Monopoly over things. It’s like OMSI, nothing could beat it, and I feel that, but The Bus is a much worthy contender if TML don’t fuck it up, sorry to say but hopefully they don’t ruin it. £21.95 for Early Access and it being soo good now, is great. Just want that to continue, someone has to put the effort in, TML seem to have come leaps and bounds lately. DTG, although their use of UE4 is better than TML. They need some competition, I love TSW2 but I wonder why they’re so scared of longer routes and more interesting NPCs

The fact that Matt’s able to describe it as a positive that you can do activities like shunting that you can’t currently add in scenario editor is just another exposure of their mocking of consumers as they sweep the promises they’ve under delivered on under the rug. We were meant to get full editor tools, though if we ever do, I’m sure it’ll be after paying for what we already own another couple of times. Not sure what the fuss is about unless you must buy everything that is released. DTG have said this pack is experimental and they themselves are unsure if it is something users will want. You vote on this pack with your wallet as it were. TSW2 has added the concept of overlays which is a very novel idea. For me I just view the pack as adding new overlays to the Great Western using older equipment and time tables. Quite a niche market. The big news for me is how many outside developers are stepping up. German train enthusiasts are going to get a large selection of locos it seems.

For a New players to play this will costs over £60. If like me you own 90% of content but not all you lose approx 50 routes per dlc you don't own. It's massively overpriced, and nobody knows really what you get if you just own TS2 + GWE + This DLC, not even the people selling it to us.

The Steam description is also clear. You cannot justify a complaint because of a potential careless buyer that does not do any research or read the descriptive text.
