Hey alex, this is a great video to get started in speaking! Sometimes I'm like literally unable to say anything because I'm worried about mistakes and grammar. People post videos about how they didn't place in B2 for a language and they lament over a tiny mistake! I make hundreds more and worry a lot with my progress. But this is a great way to just force myself to start talking.

If you're a perfectionist and a language learner, you're going to have a heart attack by 30

@Study with Alex lol!! So true. Also I have to remind myself that above all language learning is to be fun and enjoyable otherwise what's the point!

PS, I am curious to know how did you learn Korean did you ever take classes or travel there? You speak it so well! I'm lately getting really into Korean television programmes and find the language quite melodious! I would like your ideas on resources to use if you have any recommendations. I can read and write but slowly lol. In Hangul.

I hope you're successful! My Korean learning has been 100% self-taught. I have a resource page on my website with all my Korean learning material recommendations: studywithalex.com/resources/korean-resources/

PS. I hear some different things on this one question, I'd like to know your thoughts. If I want to really feel confidence and a sense of proficiency in a language, should I ONLY study that language intensively and not worry about any other? In other words, focus one at a time?

I think we are more limited by the time in a day more than mental capacity. We can learn tons of languages at the same time, but as you incorporate more, you're contributing to the improvement of each less (not down to 0). It all depends on your goals. I want to be confident in Turkish at an undecided point in my adult life, so I take a 30 minute lesson consistently every week. If I wanted to be confident before 2024, I probably would take 1 hour a day.

Hello friend! Ben de turkce cok seviyorum. Ama dilbilgisi zor. Too many suffix haha. I am feeling really stuck and unsure how to get confidence back with language studies. I had 2 questions...let's say I want to learn a new language and really focus on it. Well take even a week for example. IF I only study my target language intensively, what can I do to ensure I won't forget the other languages I have learnt up to this point?

I think you said the key word "intensively." If you are interacting with your language in some way, you won't forget it. I can't give you a time period because it depends on too many things, but I think you should incorporate that non-intensive language for those mental pathways not to be forgotten.
