Lâche means coward But a past tense of the verb lâcher (lâché) means to let go/ to release / drop
@calebbergie
@calebbergie 3 жыл бұрын
Could just be the etymology, in the parkour/gymnast world it refers to releasing/throwing yourself off of something. So perhaps the early developers of the name decided to correlate that with the word lache? To run away or abdicate? Doesn’t really make sense haha.

I love how calm and cerebral Anton is… very unlike other athletes… Normal Athlete fails: “FUCK! SHIT! DAMMIT! SO FUCKING CLOSE! SHIT… COME ON!” Anton: “Hmm.. I feel that it’s not gonna happen. Train more.” That’s it. Instead of raging or being anxious, he just processes his failures into education and seeks advice and knowledge from those more skilled. No jealousy or macho nonsense, just a cool dude who respects skill and knowledge and is always really and willing to learn. I love it. He’s a great role model for young men to learn that not everything is a competition and asking for help doesn’t make you weak, in fact… it’s the only way to become truly strong.

I don't know if you're describing athletes or maladjusted people. Maybe they're the same in your experience. I find a lot of really accomplished people (athletes or otherwise) are fairly cerebral. And a lot of the best athletes I've worked with seem pretty relaxed. It's usually fun and easy for them to perform at a high level.

The point about "different bodies" (significantly longer arms) is that longer arms give you "more TORQUE" during the initial swing due to the center of mass being further away from the bar ... which gives you more energy potential forward.

Yeah, when I did MMA for. While, I had a coach that was extremely narcissistic and would always say “skill trumps everything! If you can’t do it… you’re just lazy and not trying.” But I was 5’5 and 135 and no amount of skill will match sheer weight and size. It’s not mean or sexist or whatever to say that women will never be as strong as a man, or a small man will never be as strong as a big man, or a person with a body suited to it. I’m 5’7 now… no amount of skill will let me dunk on Lebron or block Shaq… Sometimes your body just isn’t suitable for an activity and you need to compensate with extreme technique, but accept that some people will just be better than you. Sure, 6’5 Ben Polson would destroy me in Ninja Warrior and Lache, probably kick my ass in the ring because of his reach and legs as long as my body… but let’s see that lanky himbo sleep on a plane comfortably! Mwuahahaha! Lmao (p.s. I love Ben. I’d love to see him do a video with Anton sometime!)

I'll start off by saying I don't really know what I'm talking about. I'm 260 pounds so I'm not doing any swinging or flying techniques any time soon. But it seems like this is one of those things where finding the perfect timing is key. On your backswing there is certainly a perfect time where you would kick your momentum forward to acheive maximum distance. Kinda like swinging on a swingset I guess is the only thing I can personally relate it to. You know when you flatten your feet out and swing the legs forward right before the forward momentum starts and it feels like you just stream and fly forward. This is probably very basic stuff and badly explained but who knows may be it actually is something that hasn't been perfected?

Does hand position on the bar matter? For the long leaps, do you focus on moving your hands closer together, which would make your overall length maximal. More length from the bar to your toes would maximize your energy potential? Maybe? It makes sense in my head.
@AntonFomenko
@AntonFomenko 3 жыл бұрын
Shoulder width. If you go too close, you will have problem with head position... But yeah... too wide is not good either!
@Muck006
@Muck006 3 жыл бұрын
@@AntonFomenko Yes ... having the hands close together means you have basically just "one point", which makes it unstable for the purpose of rotation. Shoulder-width makes most sense from a mechanical standpoint.

Nice video as always, really makes me want to learn everything and makes me appreciate the strength of the human body. It seems so lost nowadays in a modernised world where we try to differentiate ourselves from animals with our brains, making our bodies lack behind in contrast to some of the powerfull beasts that surrounded us. Now that I got that out of my system, how is your shoulder doing?

You're losing momentum by dropping your left leg and rotating your hips. See if you can send your feet first with your belly arcing above the bar. Like a backflip with no flip. Great fun watching you fly. I miss it.

I feel like you need to be able to do a giant on the start bar - not necessarily when you execute your lache, but it seems like if you stall before vertical you might be losing an inch or two of downward momentum. Actually maybe a giant would be best since you'd have momentum at the top before gravity could begin accelerating you on the way down. This from a total old couch potato who has zero experience at lache. I'm wondering where I can find some bars to try this. I know one place. I guess I could start with just jumping off the bar and landing on the ground. All of the bars I know I'd have to swing through with my legs tucked because I'd hit the ground otherwise.

When Anton laches his left shoulder/ body seems to slightly lag behind his right. I imagine the shoulder pain causes that, but he noticeably is more sideways instead of front on when approaching the bar on a lache. Would the uneven approach affect his ability to distance further?
