01/02/24 New Jersey, USA - I've been looking for someone like you for a long time. I've been playing guitar on and off since I bought my first guitar when I was 13. I'm 69 now. I'm self taught and actually only took lessons for 6 weeks from an elderly man in Elmira NY . He was a jazz and big band, ragtime player when I was in college in the mid 70's. I simply love playing the guitar and I bought a lot of books and learned all of the cowboy chords and barre chords. I put my guitar down for almost 20 years after college but picked it up again about 15 years ago. The internet made it a lot easier to find stuff. Now, I play at my church every Sunday, but I can't play the way I really want to. I want to play that Quartet style, but never found anybody to teach me. I taught myself as much as I could but keep getting stuck in the blues and rock stuff I taught myself to play. But I really want to play like I'm saved! It's really tough finding someone who teaches real gospel (not just Christian) music. I was about to give up, but you have me thinking things can be changed for me Thanks!

It's truly inspiring to hear about your lifelong journey with the guitar and your passion for music. Your dedication, from teaching yourself at a young age to rekindling your love for playing in church, is commendable. It's understandable that you feel stuck in certain styles, given your self-taught background, but your desire to learn and play gospel music, especially Quartet style, shows your deep connection and love for music. You're right about the rarity of finding specific gospel music teachers, but don't lose hope. The internet has indeed opened up countless opportunities for learning. Have you considered online tutorials or digital music courses? They can be great resources for learning specific genres. Also, connecting with music communities online can lead you to the right instructor or learning materials. Keep exploring and experimenting with your music. With your dedication and the resources available today, I'm confident you'll find the guidance you need to play gospel music the way you've always wanted. Your story is a testament to the fact that it's never too late to pursue your passion. Keep playing, and thank you for sharing your inspiring journey!

I feel you on The JC 120. I used to love em. I had 2, I used in Stereo. They seem to loose power and tone over time. Never Again....

What do you set your amp on such as your gain ,reverb, vol
@kwilson27278
@kwilson27278 5 ай бұрын
My amp settings can vary depending on the tone I’m going for, but here’s a general setup I often use: Gain: Around 4-5 for a clean tone, 7-8 for a crunchier sound. Reverb: Usually set around 2-3 for a bit of depth, but it depends on the room. Volume: I keep this at a level that matches the band or recording environment, typically around 5-6 for practice. Remember, these settings are just a starting point-don’t hesitate to tweak them to find the sound that suits your playing style! 🎸
