@@ToadstedCroaks if you are going to invest the time and money to custom block your gpu, then obviously you are well informed on pc components and watercooling, why the fuck would you pick a shitty overpriced nzxt asutek aio for that task? @ProfileUserNumber2 жыл бұрын
@@mactep1 way more expensive? Choosing your own soft tube, compression fittings and rad and pump/res and block, would be an extra 100-200 dollars over buying a gpu aio from nzxt. Pre blocked cards with aios only exist for gpus that are flagship or just under flagship, so we’re talking about 2000 dollar graphics cards, if you are making that purchase based off saving 100 bucks that you really really need, you are unreasonable, you should not be PC watercooling. You can also get pre made soft tube kits from Corsair or EK that would be even cheaper than doing your own. In terms of danger, The only danger comes from installing the block on the gpu and removing the cooler. You still have to do that on an aio, and you take that risk for a shitty result. You get a pump you can’t switch out, or even turn down the speed for. You can’t maintain an aio at all, you can’t refill it easily, you can’t expand your loop or change its position or change the fluid. So not sure how a real loop is harder to maintain it’s actually way easier. You don’t do maintenance in a gpu aio you just throw it out when the shit asutek pump goes or the fluid level drops and it stops cooling properly.

I'm with you on the cable side of things, it's one of the reasons I hate RGB. Different reason though, fewer cables makes for less disruption to airflow, means I can get the fans running slower for the same efficiency so the whole system becomes quieter. Thought on the fan shape - if you 3D print a shroud for the fans you should be able to increase the efficiency and remove the gaps. Could be an interesting experiment to demonstrate what difference it makes. I mean, you could also make one from cardboard to be fair but it wouldn't be as cool :) Rather than a screen on a pump top though I'd really like a data feed off it that I can move to an external display. Then again, I run solid case sides for noise isolation so a screen *inside* doesn't do me much good...

Well, look up the Arctic Liquid Freezer II AIO, one single 4 pin PWM header for the pump + fans, no fancy RGB stuff, cheap, and performs as good and even better as most AIOs (while being cheaper and having 6 years of warranty).

Smiling! I once mounted a new fan to my CPU using red RTV Permatex. The fan went out and it was a weekend so I took one off me old PC and Permatexed it to the heatsink. WORKED! Run a bead of that to stop the air flow loss, Smiling!

To prevent scratching you can always add a layer of some car wax or I’ve even heard chapstick works as well. Just wipe it off after. I use this on headlights and even my flashlights on my guns works well!!!!

I feel you on Corsair. Great RGB fans and coolers, but I have 10 Corsair RBG fans and H150i Elite Capellix pump header. That's 22 cables just for those parts. Then there is the Commander Core that controls 6 of the fans (fan speed and RGB), a Lighting Node Pro (RGB controller for 4 fans) and the fan hub that came with the 5000D Airflow case. Also, it is unfortunate that Corsair devices depend entirely on the iCue software for any custom settings. Without the software, it goes with hardware defaults. Then again, this does protect the hardware from getting bricked by bugged settings.

I hear you about being a cable management snob, so I would suggest you might look into wire loom. Automotive wire loom is cheap and readily available at auto parts stores. Wire wrap is different, but it also works. Using those can really help you merge, split, manage, and contain your wiring.

The only problem with the smoked screen is... maybe your case have smoked glass, then you won't see much..., the small issues that you pointed out are true but I think EVGA will listen and make even better products, happy for them to be in bussines. Cheers!

My friend has this cooler. I don't have much hands on experience with AIOs or RGB, but this cooler looked really classy in person.

Build idea with the rounded fans ... 3D print a backing that covers the exposed corners of the radiator. You could make something neat to integrate into a build theme.

Meguiars Clear plastic polish works great on shiney plastic, and car dash gauges. NAPA also has a brand of clear plastic polish. Novus is good too, its a three step process though.

6:21 This is why the design decision around the USB2.0 Headers on the Corsair Commander Pro XT Fan Controller is progress toward chain capability. The reason why it is progress is because only one side of the output connection operates.

Jay the edges of the fans get blocked when installed in top of the case or front by most cases the compact sides when installed pretty much block that side air from escaping. On a test bench all open way different.. but thanks for showing the new cooler.....great hardware

I for one love cable management on computers and hose management on engines. I guess I just enjoy making them look complex and awsome at the same time. EVGA could address this by including mesh tubing to tidy up the cables for average joes who don't have the patience to order special parts. Also, YEAH.. Why not use glass or a harder coating on the screen..?

Jay. Any kind of acrylic, never rub it dry, regardless of the material used! The ONLY way to properly clean acrylic, is with a lightly damp microfiber. Put a dot of dishwashing soap detergent in your cloth (so it dries streak free) and make it a little damp. It's shine, and not scratch. NEVER EVER USE DRY TOWELS, EVEN IF MICROFIBER!!!! I worked in picture framing for 7 years, I'm not talking out of my @$$.

Yeah it would be nice if they included some soft silicon/rubber gaskets pre cut to go on the fan against the radiator to seal those air leakages.

One way to protect that easily scratched plastic is to spray it with some high gloss clear coat it. Then put a layer of wax on it and buff it out. Obviously, do this before installation.
