I came from a pickup truck prior to my Model 3. Dunno that I'd want another truck, to be honest. Very, very rarely had any use for its capabilities and actually ended up being used to help friends move. I haven't been asked to help someone move since I got my Model 3 and honestly it feels good.

I would put forward that if it's less than 20% of your car-use-time, it isn't worth having this big, ungainly vehicle that's just carrying around mostly air most of the time. Smaller car is more pleasant and easier to drive, reduces congestion, etc etc

I'm bad hyped for Cybertruck, too. I've had the lucky experience of seeing one in person. It looks even better in person than in videos and photos. It took me a while to warm up to the Cybertruck. I put in a preorder a month in. I was between a Model 3 and the Cybertruck. While the Model 3 is classy, I figured the cost and getting PPF installed would make it about the same as the Cybertruck I ordered. I currently drive a 2012 Prius, while driving to work, I got cut off about 3 times like my car doesn't exist. I decided to go with the Cybertruck just so I can get noticed, and having a big slab of steel going 70mph on a road would probably make an SUV Driver think twice before getting aggressive and cutting off my little car. Plus Instant Torque would probably make it much easier for me to fill in gaps where I feel I am getting cut off because I am flooring it and still not filling the gap.

My brother and I both pre-ordered, he got the 500 mi one, I got the 300 mile one. We often get together and chat about taking both our trucks and his kids camping with our Starlink ISP satellite and maybe not coming back for a week. We are constantly searching for what we are calling Cybertruck Porn. I cannot tell you how many times I have watched the Jay Leno’s Garage episode on Cybertruck or footage of people recording it in the California museum. I realize there will plenty of people who absolutely wretch at the sight of it, but I dont give a damn. To me she is beautiful. I am hopeful to have it in my hands by the end of 2022, best case scenario. I imagine that many people pre-ordered cause why not.... or assumed they could afford a 50k dollar truck years down the road to discover, not so much. I would bet if you preordered around the time of the event, in reality you will be one of the first 200,000 Cybertrucks received. Am I lying to myself or do you all figure could this seem plausible?

It's hard to know where in line. There are the predictors out there but when Model 3 sales started reservation timing only seemed to play a small roll. I also cannot wait for some more pictures and video! Come on Elon!

From what I understand, Tesla delivers vehicles in zones, starting with zones closest to the factory and with the highest order density. The reason for this: they want to deliver as many vehicles in the quarter as possible. They can’t do this if they’re delivering one vehicle to NH, and then one to CA, etc...so they group areas by order density and the proximity to the factory. If you live far away from the factory with the lowest order density, even though your reservation number may be #7000, you’ll still be amongst the last. Imagine my agony - I order dual motor CT, and I live in the eastern most point in North America (St johns, Newfoundland). I’ll be lucky if I get my CT by 2023. 😭

Giga Austen is 4x the size of Shanghai phase I. And it required almost 3 months of ground prep. It will NOT be ready for production in July. CT also requires a LOT of batteries and specifically 4680 cells. Once it gets going though I think the production ramp will be very rapid, much much faster than M3 and MY ramped in Fremont ir Shanghai.

I want to rent mine out on Turo, too. I want to drive it, but I need to pay for it, too! My only worry is insurance. I've heard Turo can take around 40% of the fees for full coverage insurance. So maybe I get business insurance on my own instead. But I keep hearing that current Tesla cars are getting huge insurance bills. Plus Michigan has high rates in general!

Tri Motor FSD is my order. According to the order # I should be about 3500 in line....can’t wait. Went to see it at the Peterson Museum in LA last June and it’s even better than I thought. Amazing truck. I’ll happily buy it earlier than expected.

I too will be trading in my model 3 for my Cyber. I use my Tesla’s for rideshare so about 600-800 people a month will be riding with me in the truck like they have in my 3. So talking major exposure. I've been towing a 17' trailer across the USA and really, REALLY, looking forward to the 500+ mile range!! I'm tired of sometime just not having enough range to reach the next supercharger.... It would be nice if Elon would let us transfer the FSD to a new vehicle.... Then they could sell FSD to the new owner if they want if.. Just saying....

@@jroy1818 My Casita weighs about 2500 empty and I figure there must be 6-700 pounds of person stuff and water. My best range was when I came across Texas (actually south from El Pasco, to Brownsville) without a headwind, was 124 miles... Battery size in my Y, is 75KW and I don't really know what the max is loaded.... never drove it that far without the trailer. Always keep it charged when home or staying in an RV Park...

I preordered 2 the first about 2 hours after reservations started and other about 2 months to lock in 7k FSD. The first was configured as dual motor, then I preordered another as trimotor. I want the range of the Tri-motor and if Tesla decides to do a dual motor with the bigger battery then I would get that otherwise I will go with Tri-motor. First looks to be about 50k in line. I'm getting the 2motor w/fsd. Under normal circumstance, I'd have already replaced my truck.... but it's working fine and should continue to perform to my standards for at least 2 more years. It's a 2014 f150 ecoboost supercrew with 140,000 miles on it. I typically don't keep cars past 100k mi but I know the cybertruck is going to be worth the wait!

What would be wicked cool is if you auto-parked your Cybertruck in the lake by your house. (Not sure how you'd plug it in though). And is there any value to having multiple Tesla orders? I think it's possible, starting with Model Y Elon/Tesla started to give extremely conservative dates, because before they missed so many deadlines (Obv. for the FSD/Semi/Roadster/..) Then again Plaid+ is apparently delayed now too, so maybe their timelines are just inconsistent in general now :D

I have had a model 3 since 2018 and I am 126 k in the cybertruck que. I intended on trading in my model 3 for the cybertruck, however if by chance Elon has the FSD working before June 2022 (when I suspect my cybertruck will be ready), then I may keep the model 3 and upgrade it with FSD and use it as a robotaxi.

Good track record for delivering on time is probably just plainly wrong :) Plaid has just been delayed most of the year from what I gather. Which is particularly curious since it was announced a couple of months before supposed delivery so that seems like a big slip. The Roadster is delayed to a semi absurd degree.
