Yes, Figure is able to work independently. It can identify objects in the scene, complete tasks, and interact socially with humans. It is not clear from the video if the Tesla Wii robot can do the same things as Figure. The video does not provide any specific details about the robot's capabilities. However, the speaker does mention that the robot was able to interact with people in a seemingly natural way, and it was able to adapt to people's movements and interactions with it in real time. This suggests that the robot may have some similar capabilities to Figure. However, it is also important to note that the video does not definitively prove that the Tesla Wii robot is fully autonomous. The speaker expresses their uncertainty about this, and it remains an open question whether the robot is truly capable of independent thought and action. Here are some specific details from the video that support the idea that the Tesla Wii robot may not be fully autonomous: The speaker mentions that the robots may be using pre-recorded responses or scripts. The speaker observes that the robots seem to struggle with understanding complex questions or following long conversations. The speaker points out that the robots' movements can sometimes appear jerky or unnatural, suggesting that they are being controlled by a human operator. Overall, while the video showcases impressive advances in robotics, it does not definitively prove that the Tesla Wii robot is fully autonomous. More information would be needed to draw a definitive conclusion about its capabilities.

These would be AMAZING tools for disabled people, who find it impossible to get out and about, to control, perhaps by Neuralink, and be able to pop down to the shops or just go and have a look around, for THEMSELVES, without needing a fully autonomous robot to do it for them. The operator-controlled Optimus bots are extremely impressive on their own, and even more so if you consider what is required to pull the operator control off. It is (probably) like using a wireless Meta Quest, except with a many many times the user inputs with a highly specialized capture rig, some sort of haptic feedback system (maybe?), and your camera feed goes through Starlink. All of this done in near real time. Each one of those is hard to pull off, and Tesla did all of those. That deserves some serious respect.
@MostViewedTop40
@MostViewedTop40 Ай бұрын
And the physical dimensions of the operator won't actually be the same as the robot. They were clearly switching between tele operating them and doing pre-programed moves, but it wasn't clear to me which was which all the time. Like when the robot was holding a glass and pulling the tap to get the drink out the tap was that a human tele operator or was the robot doing that task? How do you grasp a tap if your physical dimensions are different from the robot? I guess you can do it, but it's pretty clever.

One point about the CyberCab that wasn't mentioned in most videos' is that it's rear wheel drive only. I ask one of the Tesla engineers at the static display, and he said cost considerations lead them to a single motor design. When ask about northern climates, where AWD would be useful, he said that's where you use a Model Y AWD "RoboCabs". Sounds like your Tesla user profile for temp, tunes, etc. will be provided to CyberCab, and also use phone Bluetooth proximity to identify "hailing cab rider" and open door upon approach.

This got me thinking since the robots are not 100% AI and they’re being controlled by as humans and Elon Musk wants to go to mars, I believe he’s taking the robots to the mars first. Just a theory. Literally you could take the robots anywhere in the universe.

Btw at 9:22 the Tesla guy on your right with the moustache and false teeth is the one talking to you through the bot, I believe. He is checking you all the time as you talk. I believe someone else is controlling the movements of the bot. Thus voice and movements only join in the bot. Good trick.

Do you think Cybercab was fully autonomous, even though it was in the fully controlled environment? Autonomous with intermittent operator interventions?
@spiritusinfinitus

Probably autonomous with operators ready to take over just in case. There were wifi routers in the cars apparently so I imagine there was some serious safety considerstions in place!

Admittedly, even achieving Waymo/Cruise level of remotely supervised autonomy is good, even on limited routes on a movie lot. Bodes well for offering similar services in locations where that's allowed, as a first step in the many year process toward regulatory approval more broadly.

You said you feel sorry for the robots that are trapped in the fishbowl dancing what about the actual people that are controlling those robots that have to stand somewhere and dance for hours? They are probably in an empty room or an office space in one of the buildings behind you. Thanks for posting this it's one of the best I've seen.

Hey Chris does any of the Autonomous Model Ys at the show have a front bumper cam like the Cybercab?
@kenion2166
@kenion2166 Ай бұрын
Iam pretty sure the cybercab was running the same FSD stack which doesn't use the bumper camera, at the end it really needs that only for getting out of parking spots. Keep in mind that every additional camera is a lot of extra computation for an AI computer, that's the main reason they didn't add more cameras

I think exoskeletons would be a big thing to make first. That would enhance human abilities. Then robots would be second in line cause I think the world ain't ready for robots now. But I think exoskeletons would solve a lot in this time.

10:30 The robotics are indeed important, but not the most important. ChatGPT, as you mentioned, is not intelligent, it just generates very clever text. The hard part her is in connecting the reasoning from the brain to movements, so a robot can autonomously "do the dishes" or "park a car". It is indeed impressive Tesla can produce robots with actuators as good as these, but the non-trivial part right now is to demonstrate how these robots can reason descriptive tasks into real world tasks. Time will tell.
