Thanks! It is very fun. Also a lot less stressful for me now that the car i'm doing how-to video's on isn't my daily driver. Believe it or not, pretty much all my other how-to video were made on cars that were my only vehicle at the time! and yes, OLOA should be epic!

There actually is a oil pan gasket out there. Use one from a Outlander. Did it on mine with moroso pan to ensure there is no leaks

Thanks man. For your how to's, autocross video and showing proper way right tools and tricks for your build. One, thing I'm wondering will be doing the balance shaft delete. A channel, I watch all the time plus tend to his older videos is guy called Jafromobile. He has many how to's build progress of the 4g63 for his 95' gsx, colt 4g63 swap, Elantra 4g63 swap and a galant vr4. Buschur racing has some good how to videos. Tom's turbo garage is another good. Then there's some decent 420a engine videos. haha yeah can't leave these guys hanging.

Thanks for the support! I will be addressing the balance shaft belt delete in my how-to timing belt video. I think i'm going to leave both balance shafts in my evo engine and just remove the one balance belt that drives the rear balance shaft.

Love the work. The world needs more Evo how-to/informative vids. I hope to make some contributions myself but I am too focused on learning at this point (see: very mechanically green). If you haven't checked him out yet, JafroMobile's vids are so frighteningly descriptive and knowledgeable that I am pretty sure it could in some cases replace the manufacturer's workshop guides. Its DSM, but there are plenty of crossovers.

Thanks for the comment. Never heard of JafroMobile, but i'll check them out now! DSM's are what made me fall in love with the 4 cylinder, turbocharged AWD platform.

At 7:22 do you have bolts missing from the oil filter housing? I took my motor apart a few years ago and building it has been a pretty long process, and I had 4 bolts that were sitting in the housing from when I removed it. One was substantially longer than the other 3 and bottoms out before the head makes contact with the housing. Not sure if it's supposed to secure something or if I have an extra bolt.

Those 2 open ports are where the oil lines run to the oil cooler.

Thanks for the vid. I feel bad for mentioning that comment about how other KZbinr's do vids for money. I never intended or wanted you to turn of monetization! Anyways. two questions regarding the timing belt procedure: 1. In the previous video you mentioned about setting up the balance shaft timing along with everything else. If you pause at 1:42, the pulley to the left of the grenade pin/tensioner, is that a balance shaft? I assume a belt drives that but what does it connect to? 2. Never knew about the tensioner tool. But I thought the Tensioner w/grenade pin was what set the tension? Am I missing something? Question of the Day: I've watched CZero and EE for a good while as well. I've also watched ThatDudeInBlue but, despite remaining humble, he is not the same as he was earlier on. He seems to be becoming more of a production KZbinr with his 3 videos a week deal and whatnot.

I'm glad you brought it up, honestly. Made me think twice about my goal with the blog. 1) You are correct, at 1:42 to left of the auto tensioner, that is the rear balance shaft. (the evo's have a front and a rear balance shaft) After talking with some people I decided to leave off the belt for this balance shaft. (If you want the see the balance shaft belt, it is on at 0:37) It is a controversial topic, and i had actually talked about it in this video but decided to cut it out. I talked with a trusted EVO friend and he said always removes that belt since it could break and take out the main timing belt. I will show how to install both belts in my timing belt how-to video, but as of right now I will not run the rear balance belt. The Front Balance belt is the important one i mentioned in the water pump video. That one is the lower right gear @ 1:42 in the video and runs off the main timing belt. 2) You use the tensioner tool & tensioner pulley to set the initial belt tension. The actual tensioner is designed to keep timing belt tension consistent after initial tension is set. This is how I understand it anyways. Maybe someone else can chime in and explain it better or correct me if I am wrong. Does thatdudeinblue do much for how-to's? What i've see is mostly car reviews and some events?

Ah that makes sense. I did not realize the crank drove two belts. I have heard some about the controversy regarding the balance shafts but haven't truly dug into any deep research. TDIB mainly does reviews and events, yes. So I guess the only car related how to's that I watch are yours, CZero, and random one-off videos that I save from random people. And EE, but he's more general knowledge as you know.
