Xtra_Slo what clutch do you recommend? I have plan of making 500-600 wheel and im on the fence with an ACT clutch kit or the exedy twin disc. I want reliability and not a huge nightmare to drive. Thanks and keep up posting videos i learn lots from them.

Installed a Act clutch along with the mono lock and the car won’t go into gear and adjusted the pedal and bleed it a lot and when trying to go in reverse it grinds. Any ideas

Life saver with these videos man! But I was gonna ask, I noticed you didn’t use loctite. Does it not call for it? Only asking cause other videos I’ve seen people did use it
@xtra_slo15964 жыл бұрын
Eric 👍🏼 I bought brand new bolts from Mitsubishi which have a loctite sealant on the threads right out the bag. If reusing then definitely apply some.

BEAUTIFUL VID DUDE! Of course you make this 2 months AFTER I did my 1st clutch job on my Evo X! Lol no worries I had a very trust worthy tuner shop to do it. Even though I trust them to the max I still felt so nervous because even for pros it so labor intensive! All did workout well. That break in period sucked! But after words it felt like my car gained 500awhp just from the clutch lol. I do have 1 question... the Monolock collar that I also got from ACT... It had to be swapped during the install. I'm not sure but something was wrong and it was swapped for a different monolock collar. I still have the original collar that was sent. It doesnt looked messed up at all. Any thoughts as to what was wrong?
@xtra_slo15965 жыл бұрын
Patrick Joseph Thank you and sorry it was earlier 🤣 my only guess could be they sent you a Monolock color for the wrong size pressure plate. An oem one and a. After market one are different
@icemanvf1435 жыл бұрын
@@xtra_slo1596 Oh wait so there are different size locks for the plates? I didnt know that. It was ACT complete clutch kit that I bought. The collar was actually already on the plate. But so far so good.

One thing I never see anyone talk about when they’re doing the clutch videos is the restrictor pill in the slave cylinder. My clutch was blown at just 340whp because of this restricted pill. You can’t launch the car to its full potential with it still in the slave cylinder. I put a exedy twin disc in and removed the restrictor pill, now it burns all 4 tires on a launch. Maybe u can include this in one of your videos
@hellyeaseabass97154 жыл бұрын
I gotta say I like your channel and your very in depth with all your videos and I respect that. That’s why I want your feedback on what you think about this. 🤔👍💪
@xtra_slo15964 жыл бұрын
Eric Blanchard I will put it on the list of videos to make. 👍🏼 I’ve heard about it for a long time but Currently I’m almost all roll races so I haven’t worried about it. The 4-5 launches I have done came out good so be interested in feeling the difference

what was the problem you were having that made you change your locking ring and TOB. My evo's clutch has been making a a grinding/sqeaking noise when pushing the pedal all the way down. I upgraded slave and master cylinder. Any idea what it could be?

Showing sign of slipping*
@xtra_slo15964 жыл бұрын
Continuum Serv It depends on your power level but in most cases a twin isn’t needed and would kinda be over kill. Not to say you couldn’t use it but I’m at 583whp , 390 wtq and still on a oem clutch..

Doesn't the monoloc and forkstop prevent the same issue?
@xtra_slo15964 жыл бұрын
david Yes so hyperextension is why you add the fork stop to prevent pulling on that collar and disconnecting it from the pressure plate which in my case did hyperextend and needed replacement. Now the monolock collar shouldnt ever break off if pulled on again but to prevent that stress on the collar and risk I added the fork stop. So cheap no reason not to add while the jobs getting done
@david63384 жыл бұрын
@@xtra_slo1596 Awesome thanks for the quick reply I also bought a forkstop with a monoloc as well but wasnt sure if they addressed two different issues but now I know! Thanks again!

Wait you're staying with stock clutch with over 500whp? Why not upgrade?
@xtra_slo15964 жыл бұрын
My stock original clutch lasted 60k~ miles and actually didn’t fade but rather the pressure plate collar failed and I needed to upgrade to the monolock collar. I had another exedy stock clutch set up I bought years back sitting in the closet and since the trans was off fixing the collar and the first held 600hp for so long without slipping I decided might as well swap it, make a video and get some use out of it. I’ll be into a big boy triple disc once I finish up the bottom end for high boost. Btw this stock exedy once again holding the 600hp all day strong for all the upgraded “stage 2” guys lol. Multiple races and daily driving 🤙🏼
