Evo X Shifter Bushings Install

Off camera I hunted down a Miata and Civic Si in today's canyon run :)

I have the same torque solution bushing. It does get a little smoother over time. At first, I also thought that there's a problem with the design but I just left it as is anyway. Cold weather makes it better too. It's been almost a year since I installed it and it's still stiff but it goes back now to the center on neutral when you move it left or right. Nice video btw. I'm glad I'm not the only one noticing the problem lol

Oh okay.Thanks for letting me know! It seems like Torque Solution’s Gate bushings are made just a little too tight so they have to wear in.

I had to sand my gate selector down. I caught this before I reassembled everything I noticed it was to stiff but I assume it does wear down over time

Nice. Curious to see if loosens up on its own or if you have to take it back off. Definitely interested in doing that

I wasn’t able to do it today but I plan on taking it back off to smoothen it up.

Will those base bushings, gate bushings, and linkage body bushings fit a regular lancer se limited edition? Asking because I picked up a shift knob and boot for an evo x and it fits my car just fine. With that in mind, I wonder if the linkage and linkage body would be similar in design? I don't want to spend a phuck ton of money at the dealership for something that isn't as high of quality.

Installed all torque solution and didnt have that issue. I didnt even use grease

If you do, I’d recommend going with all the AMS bushings instead of the Torque Solutions. The AMS seems to have a better design/quality and easier install.

Did you check if you put the plastic o-ring on the arm selector the correct way? If you put it the wrong way, the shifter won't go back to neutral properly

I had it correct, I actually just fixed it and filmed what was going on. Will go live tomorrow!

That cotter pin fails over time and is not reliable imo mine fell off and so did the metal bushings but I ordered a new set and used a c clip and is much way better

Why does the ams bushings come with 4, if you only replaced 2 bushings?

Each location uses 2 bushings, one on the top, and one on the bottom of the shifter cable end.

No everything functions fine! I was following AMS’ guide and another tutorial to make sure I had the correct orientation. It’s just that shifter sticks instead of returning to center.
