To be fair, unlike the previous games, you're only wiping your residence. The island will remain there, even if everyone is deleted. As long as save data for AC:NH exists, that island will stay there unless you do a complete wipe in the Switch settings.

Yeah, and all the future sounds (after confirmation) are cheery. Imagine playing AC at night on a cold winter day, you can't see clearly due to you being tired. You just randomly slide your fingers on the buttons, almost falling asleep. Your cursor slips over the Rebuilding option, as your finger slams down on the A button. You hear some jumbles, your vision is almost non-existent, due to exhaustion from your last school day. You didn't sleep well on Friday, you took a nap. You accidentally slip on the A button again. (every game except number 4, portable) you hear a sound that you didn't hear before. It sounded like a dundun--dundun--dundun. You rub your eyes with your hands, allowing your vision to clear up,as you realize that you are currently bulldozing everything and everyone. You try closing your game but it was too late. You then shut off the game and ask your parents if you can sleep with them for the night. Then you forget about it for 4-6 years, then you open your cardridge drawer, insert the game in shock and press A. You really like it and you will make sure to not repeat it again. This is a my representation of a 8-10 year old.

Nook is looking down while explaining it. He is sad, but will do your orders no matter what. Nook is hiding how upset he really is about it, I guess it's just not too obvious. People think he is heartless but he has tried the best he could to stop you. The last line he says just shows that he has to do it, and he should stay positive because he will see you again.
