This was the first major powertool purchase I made and I don't regret it. It has made probably hundreds of thousands of cuts, been through 4 blades, and I have never had to make any major adjustments to ensure a square cut. I love it and would consider another when it finally dies!

Your Axminster is a high rpm saw that is designed for cutting wood. It has a smother finish. The Evolution running much slower, due the compromise to be able to cut metal also.
@bilalhussain-mg9vq3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that, the axminister I would say is old fashion quality, but like u sat the new stuff has little extras , any chance u doing any more video of different mitre saw brands as I only use one for a hobby so no point buying something expensive

I was wondering what you thought of the dust suppression as you never mentioned this. I found the collection bag a bit in adequate as most of the sawdust just went everywhere except into the bag provided.Good review though.
@RagnBoneBrown8 жыл бұрын
+Calvin Nash yes dust collection was poor but to be honest if you're using it in a workshop with a shop vac it'd be much improved. I don't think any dust bags on mitre saws work well so I don't really see the point of using them
@hansdegroot85498 жыл бұрын
Dust bags on miter saws catch mostly 5 to 15% of all the sawdust. The rest flies everywhere (if you are lucky not more than 2 metres to each side).

To be fair, the evolution brand is quite a quality name in terms of how well their tools work. I have a power file by them which I've had for more or less 8 years and its been a fantastic piece of kit... great video mate and now gonna subscribe

Hi Keith just watched your vidio on the Evolution Rages 3 mitre Saw,it is quite obvious why the company asked you to do a try out fo them,it is because you have a natural way of talking in front of camera and a easy to understand speech,and you are definatley not animate in front of the camera,so i hope you get mors job's like that,good luck and take care

Great review! I've had this saw for over two years now and find it very useful. You pointed out a couple of features I hadn't noticed on mine, such as the depth stop. I also have the Evolution RAGE 1B 185mm Multipurpose Circular Saw, which has similar features such as cutting through metal. Happy woodworking.
@chemcody51198 жыл бұрын
Very fair and honest comparison Keith. I don't know what else they could ask for.
@jeffharmed16166 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing. Comprehensive review thanks. The depth of cut is used by most woodworkers to give a cleaner cut. First set the depth to skim through about 2mm, then set for a full cut and it should be a much cleaner cut than the Axminster mitre saw. Secondly, the sliding saw can handle wider board (about 300mm at least) whereas the mitre saw is limited to about 200 mm I think. Both saws need better breaking systems.
@nickh25198 жыл бұрын
Hi Keith, good review, fairly presented, thanks. My current mitre saw is non-sliding and quite small when compared with the Rage 3, and some of its plastic parts around the guide are beginning to fail, but it cost me nothing so I am not complaining! When its condition worsens to almonst hazardous I will definitely consider the Evolution. That metal cutting capability seems very useful

Just spent £249.00 on the Eviolution DB. Great piece of kit with left and right bevels, it is a dream to use.

Hi Keith. I don't have any of the Evolution Saw Range, but i do have their stand that you showed. I put my Metabo Sliding Mitre Saw on there and fits great, 4 bolts to fasten the saw down and away i go, great stand very sturdy and like you a nice button click sound when you open the legs ha ha. Interesting review. I don't own this saw, I am looking to buy one (or another), hence watching such reviews. Anyway, you said you were "not sure" why the pivot switch extension comes separately; from your video it appears to me that if it was attached to the switch, it would simply not fit in the box.

I am an evolution fan as I have the Rage 3, Fury5-S & Rage-B which I use to cut up pallet wood with nails in as well as reclaimed fence posts. I wouldn't return back to using normal saw blades
@ksp12788 жыл бұрын
Very good review. Looks like they have improved since the one I bought 6 years ago. For the price I guess they are alright but when mine broke (after relatively little use, I might add) I decided to spend a bit more (around £220) and bought a low-end dewalt. The dewalt is much better quality but then it should be for the extra money.

quality vid as always Kieth. how accurate was it at 45? the one i tried was about 1 degree out so over the four corners this meant large gaps
@RagnBoneBrown8 жыл бұрын
+david warren thanks. the bevel tilt at 45 was spot on for me. The pivot was off a little but the fence adjustment resolved that
@uktony15258 жыл бұрын
I have used the 210mm Evolution and I find it terrific as I work primarily with pallet wood and there is always the odd rogue nail in it. On special offer at screwfix it comes in at £100 and I consider that a real bargain.
@thewoodworker17038 жыл бұрын
Nice review ! i have and use the Evolution daily, and for the money spent it is an excellent budget mitre saw. Like yourself i can't really fault it other than a little blow out it creates on the underside of a cut, nothing a little sanding sorts right out.
@jeffharmed16168 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing. Best review of the Evolution combo yet. I think you made the right choice.if you have a built-in tape on the Axminster stand. If not, then the Evolution might be the better choice for carpentry, especially if you attach a laser measure..

I’m no expert on mitre saw but wouldn’t it be better to buy a blade specifically designed for cutting wood , surely you would get a better cut on the evolution . It sounds like your other saw doesn’t cut metal because you have a wood blade fitted . I could be wrong

It seems to me, that your old mitre saw is a relabeled version of of the old german "Elektra Beckum KGS 300" I'm not 100% sure, cause i have'nt this saw, but it looks equal. Check pictures on google. I think you are able to get a userguide for the Elektra Beckum KGS 300. If these are equal, you got your manual =)

good review,i bought this mitre saw when my wife and i built our decking in the garden at first the saw was great but as time went on the saw has become rather sloppy fitting so no matter how many times i sqaure it up it wont cut a straight line,the shame is its not really had much use apart from making a decking area

@@RagnBoneBrown no real harm no - just have a 45 degree cut in the alu :) Thanks for the video, convinced me to pick up the stand this afternoon for my saw instead of using it on the floor all the time - which is a pain in the rear (literally) for cutting longer wood as you have next to no chance of getting it level.

The Evolution saw motor is a brushed universal motor with some kind of PWM motor control and the axeminster has an AC Induction motor so they are different machines

I have an evolution saw. Long term they are terrible. I say long term but after 12 months it needs to go in the bin. The one piece fence warped after 6 months and got replaced. The second fence has now warped making it impossible to get decent mitre cuts and dangerous for easy square cuts as when the cut is made and the timber becomes two pieces, it moves back into the gap of the warped fence and binds against the blade and jumps. I'm not the only one. My dad has another model evolution saw and his has done the same. Very poor saws. Spend the extra money and get a dewalt or makita. They seem to last

In continental Europe it is called INBUS key. Because the slot is on the inside. Classic bolts are also hex but there you need a key or wrench on the outside.
