It's strange when people start talking about scientific facts like evolution in a prescriptive way like regarding medical science. Evolution is a fact like gravity is a fact. Gravity's existence doesn't mean we shouldn't have planes or ladders or that people getting thrown out of a window is a good thing. Biologists don't claim evolution *should* happen, just that it does. That's one of the main things Creationists don't understand when they talk about Social Darwinism.

@@jamestcatcato7132 Well Natural selection goes on every day. Look dude! Just that what we can see in our mere short lives, it just reinforces the everyday and that we can only see it but change will occur further as the ancient record shows that. Some more than other species like sharks. There's always been the need for sharks and how they do it, so their change has gone much more slowly than ours. This has been shown but proven. When you were about 6 weeks old in the womb, you had the milk-line ridge called the mammalian milk line, which goes from your current nipples down to your groin, that were forming a row of nipples like many other mammals. They them atrophied except for your current two. Some people have a third or forth nipple, usually un-migrated to be on that line. This is your and everybody else's history. This is only the start.

Jean Baptiste Lamarck (1744-1829) is one of the best-known early evolutionists. Unlike Darwin, Lamarck believed that living things evolved in a continuous upward direction, from dead matter, through simple to more complex forms, toward human "perfection." Species didn't die out in extinctions, Lamarck claimed.

There has to be a missing link in the evolution of the human brain, from Jim Jeffries to Richard Dawkins? That’s one mighty big jump in cognitive function (No I don’t think it’s Jack).

This is the man who coined the word "meme". If you have not, you owe it to yourself to read "The Selfish Gene" and "The Blind Watchmaker". Especially the former, these are/were significant contributions to science and understanding. *Especially* the former. Everything since then has been debunking obvious fallacies.

1:12:50 I would slightly modify that to, not simply are we like all other organisms in that we can be fooled by others, but our minds are so complex that we can fool ourselves...

My dog thinks he's god. I pick up his poop. I provide treats and food. I pet him and scratch his back, I provide shelter. He lives the life of luxury. I am, literally, his man servant.

pretty sure the new Jack segment was just an excuse to get Jacks shirt off on his first camera appearance 🤔 Cool to see Dawkins on here, such a hero but I thought Jim would make it funnier

There’s a great quote that has stuck with me from The Crow - “Mother is the word for god from the lips of all small children”

I prefer the much shorter, "Victims, aren't we all?" or in keeping with the theology topic, "Jesus Christ walks into the inn and hands the innkeeper three nails and says...Can you put me up for the night?"

@Jim, on the morning of Jan 20th would you be so kind as to visit the American President and wake him up using your famous "Up, Gunta! Up!" line? Hehehe
