I'm curious at your downplaying of siege. Siege units are the best units for gathering. In the early game, what I've been told is to focus on mounted and siege. I'm on a young server, less than four months old, I'm keep 27, and we're currently in the MC of our first SvS, so those factors may shade things. As a side note, I would be interested in more videos geared towards early and mid game as end game is only important if you get there.

I am unaware of exactly what i say in this video but I may have mispoken. Siege is fantastic to be using in PvP, given you have ample stats, ranged troops and high tiers of troop. They are especially good for defence, although the best for gathering they aren't always the best to recommend for this reason as newer players are likely to get their siege permanently killed pretty easily. If able to stay bubbled for long periods of time, then they are excellent for many uses of course.

What about arminius? 50 percent combined debuff and specialties are more debuffs and wounded to death.

arminius is fine but debuffs may be applied through subordinate cities, meaning it isn't always the best use of him to be in the main city defense if you have a better general for that use

Luckily i have won joseph e johnston but i really don't know what skill books should i put on him? And how should i put skill book that it shouldn't be wasted. After playing for a year and got zeroed many times. This is only i make by going to mysterious relics. NOW PLEASE GUIDE ME WHAT BOOKS I SHOULD PUT ON and after reaching to level 25. Should i really spend gems on his skills?

Joseph E Johnson can have different combinations but a simple one that you can't go wrong with is Ranged Troop Ranged bonus, Ranged Attack and Siege Range Bonus. You can spend gems on books to get the level one books, which are used to save your higher-level books from being consumed. This method of applying skill books is covered in my skill book video

i will have to take a look at this further has I haven't actually noticed that before. It is most likely not able to be changed, even if it can be it would be through regular research etc anyways.

I actually completely misunderstood what i was looking at actually haha this is just the number given by upgrading the wall to a higher level. The defense cannot be changed other than having a higher wall level and the HP can be altered by researching related technologies. These stats shown in the wall detail are not something needing to be increased as they have little to no effect on your defense capabilities

He is not too bad, very good general if you couldn't manage to get Joseph E Johnson. I would pump him full of those ranged stats to help with his default skill book. This could mean a combination of Ranged Attack, HP and Range increase or changing out the HP to also have a siege range book

Yes you may go as "negative" as you like without affecting anything. The only downside is you will only be able to store a small amount of food, most of it will be eaten by your troops.

I am curious why you have Gus as an option when he is not a main city defense general. His skills are for attacking only and from my understanding would not apply as a wall general.

His skills apply when leading an army, a general does not require that it say when main city defense general to work on the walls

Yes but doesn’t it need to be “in city” skills? I tried putting Gus on the wall and I looked at the military detail and those regular military skills didn’t change. If I add in city then those percentages do change. Just trying to look for clarity but it sure doesn’t look like those stats apply since it doesn’t change the military stats.

I tried this myself and I get what you mean but that is just because there is an In-City stat on there which will include a general that has in-city buffs. The stats of a regular general is invisible in the military tab and will only be shown in a battle report or scout of your city by a watch tower 30+

I just scored Kusunoki. Have you seen anyone use him well? I currently have Kiet as main def general and also have Yi Sun (but no work done on him yet) but at this stage I think I most want Johnston

johnston is still very very good however kusunoki and Kiet are great also. If you already have put a lot of work into kiet and do not spend much money on the game then it might be best to stick to that general to save on resources. If you could somehow get yourself a johnston soon then consider holding off on any major upgrades to your current setup

@@EvonyGuides I nearly have enough fragments for a Johnston, but hard to say when I will get him. I plan to keep Kiet for his Traps Def during ghosting say, but am looking to build a better long term general. I am still in my learning phase of what to keep vs discard. I understand that style of play is probably the most important factor when working out how to set up your generals. I also understand that each def general has his strengths and weaknesses; is the way to think about them to maximise their strengths or try to balance them out? For example Johnston is strong seige/range, so does he have a weakness against ground attack?

@@jasekiely9761 He would be weak to ground however due to people needed mounted for killing bosses, people tend to make ranged for PvP first, not ground. Only very large players tend to have a significant enough ground force to hurt those that have a lot of ranged troops. You can always switch out generals when needed if you had an enemy with lots of ground, but joseph is great to have on a majority of the time. It is therefore always better to sink your effort into 1-2 troop types and not to balance them out. Kiet may have the trap buff however it tends to not be worth too much once you get to be quite powerful, although it helps hurt the enemy while ghosting it isn't usually something your enemy will worry about.

@@jasekiely9761 people tend to use a trajan or scipio for ground at the moment but there are a few other generals that have recently been added that also have some ground stats. As ground is used a little less, people tend to prefer generals that can be used for attack and defense for that troop type over using one like you have for such a thing.

Ban Chao does not benefit from additional skill books or gear. You would better to save those items for other generals such as your defence general. You can outfit your defence general with Ranged/Siege Skill books and gear to suit, which will always be the simplest way to defeat your enemies, although be sure to train plenty of these troop types often.

Yeah that's where ban chao goes and try to get a good ranged/siege general for the walls. You can try to get Kiet or Tran Dao but there are others that can be used if you get them

I got Honda Takadatsu, I think he is better in defence than Edward. Maybe also good for killing monster but I think Sanada is better for this. Is it all true? If he is really useful, what skill books should I put on him? I just have him and Edward as epic generals. Thank you for the videos

What about Queen Boudicca? Also, why buffing mounted troop not advantageous given a lot of the players have them as the largest type?

Any buff helps, however it is not good to promote the use of mounted on defense or attack as they are too fast for their own good. Mounted run out ahead of your army and die in droves, when you have tons of them they die quickly before the rest of your army can have a chance to kill anything. This is why only very experienced players choose to use mounted troops in attack, and actually can succeed if done correctly. I see my own server previously get destroyed having too many mounted in PvP attacks/reinforcing buildings in SvS. Ranged troops and siege troops are much better in PvP, as you say people tend to have lots of mounted so why not train the troop type that is good against it!

Queen boudica is okay, she brings a lot of buffs to the table and can be helpful until you get a better general that is a part of my list!

How do you get the good generals, and stop people from attacking so much.which sets your progress back.

Generals can be recruited from the tavern building, these generals may take some time to show and therefore it is good to save gems to refresh the tavern manually. This can be seen in my general recruitment video on the channel. You can use truce agreement items with gems to keep your city protected. I have overlapped these truce agreements on my account for 1 year straight with zero downtime and therefore have only been attacked when I wanted to be.

Arminius is best for a sub city and therefore skills aren't really needed. Edward is good with ranged attack, HP and Range increase for ranged troops as well. Trajan is Ground Attack, HP and March size probably but you could use Ground speed

You can add a cominbation of the following. Range attack, range HP, Range troop defense Range troop range bonus, siege attack, siege range bonus. I personally use Joseph E Johnson with Range attack, HP and Ranged troop range increase. To decide what will work for yourself think if you want to be heavily defensive, a bit of both or mostly attack. Siege troops are great for attacking other players and especially defending yourself however training lots of them hurts your ability to consistently attack others. Ranged troops are excellent and can be used in both attack and defense to great effect and are less likely to die if you use them correctly (which is easier than siege). Taking that into account consider going all in on ranged troops like myself or diversify with a siege range or siege attack book, replacing the Ranged troop HP book i selected. Hello, I'm learning from you and watch all your videos. Please advice how i can be better in defense? I've K26, Troops power 8.2M, Tech 2.2M. I use Ly kiet as wall gen with king Bow skill book Range attack, Range range bonus, Siege range bonus. Now to be better in defense should i upgrade keeps first or should i train lots of troops? if i train lots of troops should it be range as my general is range or should it be ground or siege? do you support training lots of Tier 1 ground, Siege or ranged? Tier 1 siege is usually used for gathering resources with a lower upkeep than other troops might have, other than that i wouldn't recommend to most people to try and train many tier 1 troops until keep 32 (for layering purposes). You have two choices when it comes to this. First you can build keep level which is absolutely the ONLY option if you plan to be a big player to be reckoned with as keep level means a lot for what you can do, However it takes a very long time to get to that kind of keep level and even longer to become a strong keep 32. This is where you may decide to instead build troops for your current keep level but do keep in mind this will ultimately hinder your long term progress. I would suggest building ranged and a little of the other three for PvP purposes if you choose to stay where you are, although maybe you will want quite a lot of mounted also for killing bosses as well.

Your research level which we call tech is too low for your keep. To have powerful troops, tech is very important. Your tech should be at least 3.5M to 4M. Seige is the best to defend your city along with a good wall general like Johnston with dragon or Ares gears. You need all troops types but mounted troops are good for rallies and killing bosses. They are not so good for attacking other players or defending your city so make sure you train ground, seige and range troops too. At your level keep your layers should be 10K each teir until you are able to train teir 11 and higher troops. As your keep increases then you can add another 10K layer to each teir until you reach keep 35. At this point you should have 100K troops of each teir up to teir 11. Teir 12 and higher troops will be 500K to 1M of each. The players in myalliance who are keep 35 have an outrageous amount of troops with tech at 6M and higher

Ranged attack, HP and Ranged troops range bonus is what i use. However you can also switch out those for one or more of the following. Ranged defense, Siege attack, Siege Range bonus. I absolutely recommend at least one of the range bonus books and an attack book (ranged or siege)

You may ask questions about them here and I can do my best to reply, there are a lot of videos I plan on "redoing" in future but I would prefer to make videos that do not need updating substantially. I currently do not have access to enough dragons to show them off in a video and to be 100% accurate with my information. I do however know enough about them and have my sources to be able to answer specific questions that you have about the topic here!

@@soulripper4423 the first dragon in the pasture is very expensive for most players but if you can afford the 300k gems the dragon is pretty nice for PvP. There are of course better dragons available in the wonder however you need to be top 5 in SvS, be the king of the server 2 times etc to get those wonders. This does not include all the resources and special items it takes to build. If you are not a very large spender it takes time to get those wonder dragons, the only option ends up being Celtic and Fafnir from the pasture. Spiritual beasts are worse, but still definitely worth using and equipping them to generals for a little boost but you will notice a big difference with a dragon instead!

I like to know.... WHEN your General is captured, and get killed, will the General still return to you for healing or does that mean, you permanently lost the General ... This seem a bit harsh because some people would spend real money on building their general

When killed you may revive them in the shrine, this will take time like anything else or can be skipped with a revival stone

It depends what you have in troops or plan to have any time soon! If you have or plan to have siege troops you could do the following - Siege attack, ranged attack and siege range. If you wanted to try having more ranged stats you could do ranged attack, HP and ranged range bonus!

He is pretty good but does not buff ranged/siege a ton like others do, as well as i wanted to have more Tavern generals over ones not available in the tavern. His ground stats are useful and of course the troop attack is great to have but the mounted stats are kinda a waste just like on Kusunoki. I would also argue that Yi-Sun-sin has pretty lackluster specialties also

Noob here I keep watching all these general videos, but I have 15 generals and none of them are historic. Brittney, Emma, Linn, Charles, Buffalo Bill - I don’t have these elite level generals that you’re showing. How do I make do with what I have until I can get these epic legendary historical super awesome generals?

You should get some for "free" just by levelling up, one should be in your first subordinate city at keep level 11 and other events at the beginning of new servers offers legendary generals. You can most ignore most things to do with generals until you get the good ones, as the ones you mention aren't going to be used whatsoever by you in the future. Just simply use what you have to gather, attack bosses etc and just wait it out!
