yep, I had a lotus evora 400. beautiful car. I actually like the seats and pedal placement better in the series 1. and 2012 - 2014 lotus fixed a few items on the 1st gen

Thank you. It's made me think. The more I do on this car the more I want to keep it for a longer time. Make sure I get my investment back and also because it becomes more and more a part of me. I suppose one day if I sell it, someone will get a well sorted car. Good for them. But no plans at the moment. :)

That's why there is a 2nd series of Evora, the 400 and GT fixed many of the S1 issues. Engine bay cooling, shifter feel, egress/pedal box size, etc. Lotus still haven't figured out how to put a proper clutch master cylinder in the car though

Man, you have a lot of patience 😂. I was a bit confused when you had your wife push the shifter cables through while you were under the car, but then when you put the new shifter assembly in, the old cables reappeared. Can’t wait to see the finish product. Excellent video!

@@GoodmorningGoodnight That's awesome, I can't wait to see it. I did replace my shifter after the blue ball failed. Was very tempted to go your route, but was afraid of committing to all that work.

Wow, amazing effort, having to go through the same I can feel your pain! But also joy at the end when you get stuff done is so much bigger. BTW you could have loosened the centre tunnel and got P-clips out way easier, plus routing cables in and out is way easier that way.

On the other hand, I expected a bit more improvement to the shift quality. Yes the movement is more precise and smooth, less force required, but the underlying feeling is still the same, and I think it has to do more with worn shift fork pads or synchros. Keep in mind I replaced clutch master at the same time, so that is ruled out of equation

Aha. You learn something new everyday. I didn't realize that loosening the center tunnel was an option. I managed. It. Certainly slowed me down but I got it done.

@@stirkac My initial feedback for a few miles now is that it feels way way better than before. I agree that there 's still some mechanical quality that is retained from the original. It's not that it makes it a whole new car, it does really get rid of a lot of the slop and the feel issues that I was having though. Mine is a 2011. What year was your car?

@@GoodmorningGoodnight indeed, the slop and lazyness is gone. Mine is a 2009 LE, but they are all virtually the same cars until 2012 facelift. Sports ratio box and all, because it was a press car. I think gearbox rebuild is next one on the list with parts from MWR - probably when the clutch goes haha, I'm at 60k now.

@@stirkac I love hearing about those higher mileage Evoras. I got to keep working. My car has too few miles on it. I got to get those miles up. That car likes to be driven. It treats me better when I drive it more.

Do you think that only updating the cables and the bushings in the gear shift holder (if thats possible) would solve a fast amount of the issues?

Thank you sir. I think your solution also works. The issue is that it's difficult to get access to the underside of that center tray that you're bolting it to. So I'm told it is possible that there are other ways to release it and get to the bottom. So if you don't prefer riv nuts, you can do bolts.

i think i'd be too scared to do that, I'd pay a Lotus specialist. How many hours did it take?

I work slow on nights and weekends. But easily 12 hours for the work with the videoing. Then another couple hours of driving and adjusting it. I could probably go faster if I had to do it again. Worth every minute.
